Chapter 33 Building a Post-Apocalyptic Safe Zone

He first tried to understand Yuewu's needs. Yuewu certainly wouldn't say that she wanted to build a post-apocalyptic safe house; she only said that she wanted to grow mushrooms here and was attracted by the constant temperature characteristics of the tunnel.

We also hope to have some functional areas, such as bedrooms, bathrooms, and kitchens.

After all, 50 meters is a lot of space, so designing such a functional area is not a problem.

After thinking for a moment, Feng Xuanlang briefly explained his plan: "First of all, a week is definitely not enough to build a house. I suggest we choose 'modular housing,' which is simple to construct, has good insulation, is moisture-proof and alkali-proof, and has flame-retardant, safety, and environmental protection functions. It can be completed in a week, and the labor cost is also low."

Yue Wu stared directly at Feng Xuanlang, her eyes sparkling.

In fact, Lewu's initial idea was to have so many highly rated renovation teams come and take a look, to see if they had any good suggestions on how to divide the tunnel into different areas and complete it quickly.

Unexpectedly, they all left without saying anything useful, leaving only the one I had the least faith in, who turned out to be a pleasant surprise.

Feng Xuanlang continued, "It has two floors. The upper floor is mainly a planting area, and the lower floor is a residential area. What do you think?"

He asked this because he had a feeling that the tunnel's main function was for living. Don't ask why, I just don't know, it's a feeling!

Yuewu nodded in agreement.

Upon seeing this, Feng Xuanlang knew that his idea was correct. "I know a manufacturer that makes modular houses. I can help you contact them. Let's take some measurements today, and then we can buy their ready-made ones so that we can start building faster."

Yue Wu nodded again. Feng Xuanlang didn't know why he wanted to laugh, but he managed to hold it in.

After all, we couldn't afford to lose this hard-won opportunity.

“I’ve checked this tunnel and it definitely needs moisture-proofing. I’ll call my people over in a bit and have them start working today. Once we’ve booked the modular units and the moisture-proofing is done, it won’t cause any delays during the later construction phase.”

Feng Xuanlang waited for Yue Wu to nod. Clearly, Yue Wu was very satisfied and felt that letting Feng Xuanlang come today was the best decision she had ever made.

Feng Xuanlang was very happy to receive Yue Wu's absolute approval.

Because he went out on his own, he experienced too many rejections, coupled with the obstruction from his former company, so he has been having a lot of bad luck lately.

Fortunately, I met Yuewu today, and my luck has finally turned around.

Next, Feng Xuanlang started making phone calls to call for more people. When Yue Wu heard that forty or fifty people were coming, she was stunned.

Good heavens, how much will that cost in wages? Yue Wu started to get anxious.

Feng Xuanlang noticed the change in Le Wu's expression and immediately came to her side after hanging up the phone to explain, "Don't worry, our wages won't be three times the normal rate, nor will they be higher than the wages of those other companies."

“The people I’m calling out to are those who have terminated their contracts with their original companies, as well as their friends. Because they trust me, they are all willing to work for me, which is why I’m so eager to see you and hope you can give us the opportunity to work.”

The music and dance enthusiast noticed something unusual, and after inquiring, they learned the whole story.

For the sake of the bricklayers and for their own sake, these people all left that company.

It's like everyone is now pinning their hopes on Feng Xuanlang. It has to be said that Feng Xuanlang is a real man!

As for when Feng Xuanlang asked which moisture-proof material to choose, Yuewu simply told him to decide for himself and choose the most suitable one.

Yue Wu also emphasized that her budget wasn't that much, and Feng Xuanlang immediately understood.

He started to get busy, calling the manufacturer to deliver the moisture-proof materials today, and taking out his tape measure to start taking measurements and recording the results.

After watching for a while, Yue Wu wanted to run away, since she still had things to prepare.

So she said goodbye to Feng Xuanlang and was about to leave when Feng Xuanlang quickly told her that he would go to see the modular houses in the afternoon. Le Wu waved her hand and said, "You decide," without turning her head back, carefree and unrestrained.

Feng Xuanlang almost laughed; he'd never seen anyone so carefree in all his years of work.

Le Wu, who had just gotten into the car, intended to leave immediately, but suddenly turned the steering wheel and headed towards the unfinished villa complex. She wanted to see how far along the construction was.

To Le Wu's surprise, the villa complex was already basically completed, and even the doors and windows had been installed.

Seeing that the doors of some houses on the outskirts had been pried open, Yuewu went inside.

It truly lives up to its name as a villa; it's very grandly built, with a three-story structure and a spacious interior. Although it's a bare shell, it would be quite nice to live in if it were renovated.

Suddenly, Yuewu had a bold idea: she decided to bring this place under her protection.

This villa complex is only three or four hundred meters away from the tunnel, so there is no way to completely avoid it.

Rather than waiting to be discovered here and have some unknown strangers move in, leaving themselves with such a huge threat.

It would be better to help some acquaintances who are of good character, so that they can form a group and jointly resist the apocalyptic crisis.

Don't talk about going it alone. In the apocalypse, don't trust anyone unless you're prepared to live alone until you die.

Music and dance cannot do it, because there are people she needs to protect. She needs to get involved to find those people.

For her, staying vigilant is necessary, nipping threats in the bud is necessary, and revenge is even more necessary, so she cannot live alone.

Besides, such buildings are considered resources in the apocalypse, so why not take advantage of them?

With this in mind, Yuewu had a plan: she would buy iron fences, enclose the entire area, and then turn on the electricity to see who would dare to come.

Suddenly, Yuewu realized a very important question: Where does the electricity come from?

Solar energy is one option, but there's no sun at all during long periods of rain, so a generator is also necessary.

But generators burn oil. Every time Yue Wu sees the protagonists in post-apocalyptic novels easily getting oil from gas stations, she gets a headache. She really doesn't know how to do it!

I did a quick online search and found out that the methods involved either stealing oil from other people's cars, digging up underground oil storage tanks, or intercepting tanker trucks transporting fuel.

Neither of them is easy to operate before the apocalypse.

Le Wu didn't want to be imprisoned in the current apocalypse; that would make her a pure vengeful spirit. So, she put the fuel reserves aside for now.
