Chapter 10: A Narrow Escape
I passed by a convenience store.
There are zombies in that luxurious two-person dormitory.
There are four in total.
Ji Zai glanced back and, sure enough, the zombies were heading their way.
Ouyang Yi said, "We're still 500 meters from the warehouse. Hang in there."
But before she could finish speaking, a zombie suddenly appeared from the left.
Ouyang Yi was startled. Startled, her legs went weak, she lost her footing, stumbled, tumbled over, and rolled away like a ball.
She looked up and saw a zombie lunging at her.
"ah!"
Ouyang Yi was so frightened that his soul almost left his body.
Ji Zai grabbed a baseball bat and hit him.
"roar!!"
The zombie let out two furious roars.
Immediately afterwards, the zombies that had been chasing them also came toward them.
It's right on a downhill road.
Liang Qiyue helped Ouyang Yi up and looked around in a panic.
She looked at Ouyang Yi, "Can you still run?"
Ouyang Yi stood up. "Let's go. We can't stay here any longer. This is the most dangerous stretch of road. Once the zombies surround us, we're doomed."
The houses along this stretch of road are all single-story buildings.
And they are all locked bungalows.
As the end of the semester approached, they were all locked up, and we couldn't get in at all.
Staying here will surely mean certain death.
Ji Zai's expression changed. "Hurry up, the school clinic is right next to this slope. I remember there were two zombies there."
The zombies behind him kept chasing.
Ji Zai kept running with them.
It's only 500 meters, a distance of 500 meters.
I never thought 500 meters was so far before, but now it feels so far that it makes me despair.
Ji Zai glanced back; the number of zombies behind her had increased without her noticing. As she ran, she looked at Ouyang Yi and asked, "How are you? Can you still run?"
Ouyang Yi's face turned pale. "No, my leg is broken."
Ouyang Yi just rolled down that slope.
My whole body was scraped and bruised, but the worst part was when I slipped and fell. I was walking too fast and I forgot where I slipped.
"A fracture?" Nan Yao's face turned pale. She looked back and her face turned even paler. "That's it. Ouyang Yi definitely won't make it to the warehouse. We need to find a place to hide, otherwise she won't be able to hold on."
She looked around and thought, "There's nowhere to hide nearby."
Ji Zai looked around and said, "I remember there's a campus lake ahead. We can divert them into the lake."
"Then let's go straight now."
Ji Zai pulled Ouyang Yi along, while Liang Qiyue tugged at him from the side.
The lotus flowers are located in front of the second canteen on campus. Because there are many people on weekdays, there is a fence. However, even with the fence, it cannot stop the students' eagerness to get up close and admire the lotus flowers.
So I don't know which senior made a small path for passage.
The school leaders were unaware of this matter.
You can reach the center of the campus lake by simply following the path.
Because that path was basically just a rope tied to a big tree, allowing people to swing across.
Ji Zai stopped, looked at the stone table in the center of the lake, and panted, "Quick, swing over there. Ouyang Yi, hold on to me, hold on tight."
Ouyang Yi nodded.
Then Ji Zai pushed off with his feet and swung across.
Ji Zai stepped onto the central stone platform, turned around, and her expression changed drastically. She saw that the group of zombies had already reached the campus lake.
"In July, you and Nan Yao will be together, and they will be right behind you."
Liang Qiyue was so frightened that she hugged Nan Yao, "Nan Yao, run!"
Nan Yao stepped back, pushed off with his foot, and the zombies behind him pounced, but it was too late; the two of them had already been pushed off.
Ji Zai was just about to breathe a sigh of relief.
Then they heard Liang Qiyue's voice, "Ahhh, it's water! Nan Yao, have you never walked this path before?!"
She turned around and saw the two people who hadn't mastered the tree-swinging technique and had fallen into the campus lake.
Ji Zai was so frightened that he rushed to rescue the person.
Fortunately, they weren't far from the stone table.
He jumped down and pushed the person onto the stone table.
When the three of them got up, they were already soaking wet.
The zombies, driven only by instinct, kept thrashing about in the water, unable to go up or down, and their thrashing only made them happier.
Upon seeing this, Ji Zai finally breathed a sigh of relief, completely exhausted.
She stared at the zombies. "Why did I think I could get the food back from the zombies? I was too confident."
They survived being chased by zombies.
Ji Zai felt that she had overestimated herself.
His physical strength was terrible, and his combat ability was even worse; he almost got eaten by zombies.
Ji Zai turned around and saw three people huddled together.
How are you feeling?
Liang Qiyue was terrified. She gasped for breath, "This is bad. I know zombies are scary, but I never imagined they would be this scary. If we hadn't found a place to rest along the way, I don't know if I could have made it."
really.
When I actually faced zombies, my legs went weak.
There was none of the composure I had imagined.
Ji Zai glanced around. "It seems like it's getting dark. We need to hurry. Ouyang Yi, where exactly is the warehouse located?"
"You can actually see it right here."
Ouyang Yi's leg was broken, and she was in a lot of pain. She pointed to the grove of trees next to her and said, "Walk through the cobblestones here, and you'll see the warehouse and the duty room at the very end."
"The warehouse key is in the duty room, and so is the truck key."
Ji Zai looked at the grove of trees, which was lush and green, and looked quite secluded.
Especially at a time like this.
The woods are a dangerous place because there are too many trees, so they don't know where the zombies will come from, making it even harder to defend themselves.
Ji Zao felt a chill run through his body.
Liang Qiyue looked at that place, feeling a chill run down her spine. "Ji Zai, should we still go?"
"Go! Why wouldn't we go!" Ji Zai gritted his teeth. "If we don't go, what will we eat? Do you guys want to keep running all over the school for food like this?"
"For the sake of our future lazy lifestyle, we have to get our hands on this food!"
Hearing this, everyone was filled with respect.
Liang Qiyue was shocked. "That makes sense! We're in the food business just to make do. If we can't get any food, we'll have to work hard every day. That's terrifying."
Looking at the warehouse over there.
Everyone fell silent again.
That's what we say, but what should we do now?
Nan Yao glanced at the warehouse, then at the campus lake, and narrowed his eyes. "I have an idea. Since we've already lured the zombies to the campus lake, and the warehouse isn't far from here, can we lure the zombies from the warehouse to this lake as well?"
Upon hearing this idea, Ji Zai looked at the others.
Ouyang Yi nodded. "I think it's a good idea."
There is actually a pavilion by the campus lake where you can admire the lotus flowers.
They are in this pavilion now.
There used to be a row of stone bridges across this place.
However, college students prefer to take a different approach, enjoying the feeling of gliding down from the side and taking in all the lotus flowers.
That's why a rope was tied to the other side.
As the student council president, Ouyang Yi had no idea there was a rope there. Staring at the rope, she thought, "This is outrageous! There's such a dangerous path on campus. This is a major hidden danger during my term."
"One day, I will cut this rope."
Several people stared at the chairman, their eyes wide.
This escape had exposed their hidden path.
Even the rope is in danger of being lost.
Upon seeing this, Ji Zai said with self-reproach, "It is I who have broken the tradition of appreciating flowers that has been passed down from generation to generation! This heritage has ultimately been broken in my hands."
But now is not the time to feel sorry for the legacy.
The most important thing is food.
