Chapter 135 Confusion and Passion
Josie pointed to one of the women and said, "You go first."
The woman was startled and shrank back, but still stammered, "We...we were rescued by them. The food...we shared it equally. Whenever someone asked for help, we would help if we could."
The female lead didn't dare to look up when answering the question, while the people next to her all looked relieved.
Josie saw this and said, "Alright, you, you, and you, the three of you stay. The other four can leave."
The men, young and old, who hadn't been called on, widened their eyes. "Why? We haven't even answered the question yet."
Why should she? Did she waste those three years in the apocalypse in her previous life?
She asked questions not so much to hear their answers, but to confirm her own judgment.
Now that she has the answer, she naturally doesn't need them to answer anymore.
"You're not convinced?"
Josie shut them up with a single sentence; they had no right to complain.
The man immediately put on a fawning smile. "She said it herself, we are a group of people who help each other. You saved them, why didn't you save us?"
Josie chuckled lightly, "I'm happy to, get lost!"
They wanted to say more, but were silenced by Xie Jue's cold and fierce gaze, and were personally escorted out of the stronghold by Xie Jue.
Those who remained were free to choose for themselves; some underwent the supernatural catalysis experiment, while others chose to help out at the base.
Gradually, the number of people at the stronghold increased.
Because they had suffered so much hardship outside, they were incredibly grateful to have a family to rely on after becoming superhumans. They all rushed to do chores and tried to share more of the burden.
That day, Josie and Xie Jue returned home covered in blood after killing zombies all day.
After receiving a basin of clean water from the water-elemental ability user, she comfortably washed herself from head to toe in the bathroom.
As she stepped out the door, she hummed a little tune, feeling relaxed and happy.
He had only hummed a few lines when the tune abruptly stopped.
A man not far away leaned against the wall, looking travel-worn but still able to conceal his handsome and tall figure.
"Chen Han?" A look of surprise and confusion appeared in her eyes. "You... how did you get here?"
Shen Han looked up at the sound, and his tired eyes seemed to dispel the gloom of his long journey when he saw Qiao Xi.
He didn't answer, but strode over, still smelling of dust, and pulled Josie into a tight embrace.
"Why didn't you tell me you were leaving the safe zone? If I hadn't gone looking for you in the safe zone after not seeing you for so long... I wouldn't have known you had already left!"
He tightened his grip, his chin resting on the top of her head.
As Josie nestled in her arms, she felt her powers begin to surge.
She sighed. Her superpower had been stuck at level one for a long time. She had trained her movement techniques for so long, but without improving her superpower, her strength would stagnate.
Xie Jue and Fu Jinxing can both recharge her, but one is her adopted younger brother and the other is her childhood friend and older brother of more than ten years.
There's no way to harm them.
With almost no thought, the body acted before reason.
She stood on tiptoe and kissed his lips!
Shen Han already missed her, how could he resist such teasing?
The suppressed desires within my body were suddenly ignited, and the string of reason snapped instantly!
Almost instinctively, he took the initiative, pressing the back of Josie's head with one hand to deepen the kiss, while his other hand forcefully wrapped around her slender waist, flipping her over and pinning her against the wall beside him.
His hand deliberately shielded her from the rough wall.
Josie was pleased with his reaction, and tiptoed to wrap her arms around his neck, reciprocating Chen Han's advances.
Their breaths mingled, and the air grew increasingly hot.
Chen Han's cold hand caressed the delicate skin of her waist, sending shivers down her spine.
At this moment of confusion and impending conflict.
A figure moving at incredible speed, accompanied by a sharp whistling sound as it tore through the air, carrying a chilling killing intent, hurtled towards Shen Han like an arrow released from a bow!
Shen Han almost immediately sensed the killing intent emanating from the newcomer.
He shoved Qiao Xi away abruptly, twisting his body at an incredible angle to narrowly avoid Xie Jue's fatal blow, while simultaneously parrying with his backhand!
The two were about to unleash their supernatural abilities to continue their fight.
Josie immediately stopped Xie Jue, "Stop!"
Shen Han didn't take Xie Jue seriously at all. Everyone here was someone Qiao Xi knew, so when Qiao Xi told her to stop, she immediately stopped and didn't attack anymore.
Xie Jue, however, still stared at Shen Han like a wolf cub, "Sister, did he bully you?"
Josie coughed lightly. "No, he's my friend."
Are we friends?
Xie Jue lowered his eyes. When he first arrived, he only saw a man pressing his sister against the wall and kissing her. His sister seemed to have no power to resist.
My first thought was that my sister had been forced into something.
But now... my sister says this is her friend?
So, she did it voluntarily?
Xie Jue was not naive.
He grew up in the chaotic tent area and had seen too much ugliness.
Now that she had calmed down, she looked at Josie's slightly swollen lips and somewhat disheveled clothes, and then at Shen Han's displeased expression after their good time had been interrupted...
A clear realization struck me like a bucket of ice water: the sister's relationship with this man was also voluntary.
"Xiao Jue, I'm fine. You should go and rest." Qiao Xi's voice carried a hint of barely perceptible fatigue.
He opened his mouth as if to say something, but ultimately, reassured by the words "It's okay," he swallowed back all his emotions.
He gave Josie a deep look, then swept his cold, warning gaze over Shen Han, before turning and leaving without a word, like a silent, wounded lone wolf.
As Shen Han watched Xie Jue disappear around the corner, the lingering passion from the interruption still burning, he turned his gaze back to Qiao Xi, the flame in his eyes reigniting.
He reached out, wanting to pull her back into his arms and continue the beautiful moment that had just been disrupted.
“XiXi…” His voice was low and husky, full of allure.
However, Josie turned her face slightly to the side, raised one hand, and gently placed her soft palm on his lips that were about to fall.
Her fingertips were slightly cool, and a weary expression appeared on her face.
"Let's call it a day for now, I'm a bit tired."
Shen Han paused, carefully examining the face so close to his.
In the dim light, there were indeed faint bluish shadows under her eyes, her cheeks seemed thinner than I remembered, and the lines of her jaw appeared more defined.
The pity in my heart instantly overwhelmed the surging desire.
The flames in Shen Han's eyes gradually subsided. He took her hand that was covering his lips, without forcing her, and simply gently stroked the back of her cool hand with his fingertips.
“Okay,” he said in a very gentle voice, with a hint of compromise and indulgence, “then you should get some rest.”
