Chapter 161 His Obsession

Chapter 161 His Obsession

Fu Jinxing wore a well-tailored dark gray overcoat, and the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose reflected a slightly cold light in the dim light.

He seemed to have been waiting for a long time, exuding a calm and detached aura that seemed out of place in this dilapidated environment.

“XiXi,” he said, his gaze softening immediately behind his glasses as he saw Josh, his voice gentle yet undeniably penetrating, “Let’s talk.”

Shen Han's brows furrowed into a knot almost instantly.

Just a few days ago, Xixi told him in person that Fu Jinxing was her first love.

Before meeting Josie, he had absolutely no interest in matters of love and sex.

Josie was her first love, and also his obsession.

Therefore, he was all too aware of the special magic of this word, enough to stir up the deepest, most secret jealousy and unease in any man's heart.

He instinctively took half a step forward, half his body blocking Josie's path, his eyes sharp, filled with undisguised vigilance and hostility.

Josie raised her hand and gently pressed on Chen Han's tense arm, signaling him to calm down.

She nodded to Fu Jinxing, then turned to Shen Han and said in a reassuring tone, "You go back first, I'll be done soon."

Shen Han's chest was churning with emotions, but he eventually suppressed them all.

Fu Jinxing was her first love, and he couldn't afford to lose his composure in front of Xixi and let her gain the upper hand.

He took a deep breath and forced a smile that could be described as gentle.

He reached out and very naturally smoothed Josie's wind-blown hair, the gesture intimate yet subtly assertive, his fingertips brushing against her slightly cool earlobe. "Okay,"

He deliberately lowered his voice and said, "I'll go back and wait for you. I'll boil some water and wait for you to come back and wash up."

After saying that, he turned around, took steady steps past Fu Jinxing toward the door, opened it and went in, closing the door with a subtle force.

Fu Jinxing took in Shen Han's possessive actions. His eyes behind his glasses darkened almost imperceptibly for a moment, and his jawline tightened slightly, but he still maintained a gentle and calm demeanor.

Once there were no other people around, he walked step by step toward Josh, his leather shoes making a soft sound as they stepped on the ground.

"Have you been out these past two days?" Fu Jinxing's voice remained gentle, his gaze falling on Qiao Xi's dirty and tired face, filled with undisguised heartache.

"Hmm." Josie said succinctly, her breath condensing into a cloud of white mist in the cold air. "You've seen the situation outside. If we don't improve, we're doomed."

“There’s no rush,” Fu Jinxing said gently, raising his hand to take her hand in his.

"How did you get so cold?" He tenderly took her hands in his, gently breathing on them to try and warm them up.

As he moved, a faint, pleasant scent of cedar wafted from him.

"That day...it was my fault, I didn't control myself." His voice was even lower, carrying an ambiguity and apology that only the two of them could understand. "Are you feeling better now?"

His long, slender fingers kneaded her knuckles.

Josie's body stiffened almost imperceptibly.

What's done is done, and there's no going back, so let's accept it calmly.

She didn't pull her hand away, but looked up at him and said, "It's alright."

Fu Jinxing keenly noticed the change in her attitude. Seeing that she did not reject or dodge him, his heart, which had been hanging in suspense, finally settled down, and a trace of relief flashed in his eyes.

He stepped forward and, without saying a word, pulled her into his arms.

His embrace was different from Chen Han's scorching heat; it carried a cool gentleness and an irresistible strength.

One of his hands was around her waist, while the other hand gently caressed her back, his fingertips pressing slowly on her acupoints through her clothes, his movements practiced and tender.

“You kept complaining about your back aching that day… let me massage it for you.” His deep voice sounded above her head.

This sentence was like a key, instantly unlocking the floodgates of memory.

In the darkness, their breaths were rapid, their burning skin pressed together; he relentlessly demanded more, while she pleaded with tears in her eyes…

Those deliberately suppressed, yet highly impactful images suddenly became clear.

Josie's cheeks flushed uncontrollably, and she twisted slightly in his arms, trying to avoid the caresses that brought a strange itch and more associations.

"No..." Her voice became soft and seductive.

Fu Jinxing immediately stopped moving, and an extremely subtle awkwardness and lingering ambiguity filled the air.

His Adam's apple bobbed, and he coughed lightly, trying to conceal the emotions that had also been stirred within him.

Josie took the opportunity to push him away, creating some distance to cool herself down.

I fought against the cold wind all day, and I'm exhausted both mentally and physically. All I want to do right now is lie down on the bed and get a good night's sleep. I don't want to think about anything else.

"Brother Jinxing, is there anything else you wanted to see me about?"

The man, who had just lost his virginity, was initially somewhat aroused, but upon seeing her tired and weary expression, all the romance vanished, leaving only heartache.

“I was worried about your health the other day when you weren’t here. There’s also something else I need to tell you. You mentioned before that you wanted to find a relatively warm place suitable for long-term living, and we’ve made some progress.”

The gaze behind the gold-rimmed glasses regained its usual calm and rationality.

Josie's fatigue was instantly dispelled by the news, and her eyes lit up: "Oh? Where?"

“Near Chuncheng.” Fu Jinxing clearly pronounced the place name. “Among the people who recently came to us, there is a researcher who claims to have escaped from there. He mentioned that in the mountains on the outskirts of Chuncheng, there is a sizable underground experimental base. It is said that the facilities are relatively well preserved, and most importantly, there is an independent geothermal energy system there.”

He looked into Josie's eyes. "If what he said is true, that place not only has a relatively stable temperature and strong defenses, but also possesses the most precious stable energy and potential scientific research resources in the apocalypse. It is our ideal shelter at present."

Spring City, a city famous for its spring-like climate all year round!

Even in an apocalyptic world where extreme weather sweeps the globe, its geographical advantages are undeniable.

Add to that a potentially well-preserved underground base... there really isn't a better place to survive in the apocalypse.

“Okay!” Qiao Xi nodded decisively almost without hesitation. “Spring City has obvious geographical advantages and existing infrastructure. I also think it’s the best choice right now. Brother Jinxing, when do you plan to set off?”

“If you also think it’s feasible,” Fu Jinxing said, a smile curving his lips as he saw her reaction, “I will immediately notify all core members and survivors who are willing to follow, organize supplies, and set off at dawn tomorrow morning.”
