Chapter 171 Never Push Me Away

Chapter 171 Never Push Me Away

Shen Han's gaze suddenly deepened. He was all too familiar with Qiao Xi's expression; it was the look she would have when he aroused her during intimate moments.

After his throat bobbed involuntarily, he slowly stepped forward, his tall figure bringing an invisible sense of oppression. He walked to Josie's side and pulled her into his arms.

"You've been washing for so long?" His deep voice sounded in her ear.

His hand naturally slid down to her slender waist, gently caressing her sensitive waist dimples through her not-so-thick clothes.

The fire that had just been forcibly suppressed reignited almost instantly when Shen Han deliberately touched it.

She used almost all her strength to raise her hand and stop Shen Han's hands that were messing around her waist. "Shen Han! No... I'm a little tired. I've been traveling all day and I just want to rest."

Shen Han paused, a clear look of surprise and confusion flashing in his eyes.

He had just become certain that she had fallen in love, thinking that he had neglected her these past few days because he was busy traveling...

He lowered his head, his voice low but with a hint of coaxing, "Xixi, really don't want it?"

"don't want!"

Upon hearing that word, Josh shook his head almost reflexively, his mind instantly flashing to Feng Ye's mocking face and the cold look in his eyes as he turned to leave.

A strong sense of shame and anger made her instinctively resist Shen Han's advances.

"Xiao Jue and the others are still sleeping outside. You...you should go out now."

She pushed hard against his firm chest, her tone decisive.

Shen Han stared at her for a few seconds, but ultimately decided to prioritize her wishes.

He chuckled softly, his voice tinged with affection, "Okay, I'm tired today, I won't bother you."

After saying that, he turned and walked out of the washroom, his tall figure disappearing into the shadows cast by the doorway.

Josie washed her face again, trying to completely extinguish the annoying heat and chaotic emotions in her body.

When she finished adjusting and came out of the washroom, Shen Han was still quietly waiting in the shadows of the corridor.

"Let's go." Josie had recovered and went over to take his arm.

The two returned to the temporary treatment room where they had taken refuge.

Inside the room, the embers of the fire glowed faintly red, barely dispelling a small patch of darkness.

Xie Jue and the other two injured young men, wrapped in all the warm clothing they could find, had long since fallen into a deep sleep, snoring softly from exhaustion and pain.

Shen Han had already laid out a thick sleeping bag in a relatively sheltered corner.

He patted the prepared spot and said softly, "Come and sleep here. I'll keep watch tonight, so you can get some rest."

Josie didn't refuse and obediently lay down in the comfortable sleeping bag.

Warmth instantly enveloped her cold limbs, and a wave of exhaustion washed over her.

But she didn't close her eyes immediately. Instead, she reached out and groped for Chen Han's hand, which was resting on the edge of the sleeping bag.

His fingers had distinct knuckles and were slightly cool to the touch.

“You’re not made of iron,” her voice sounded especially soft in the darkness. “I’ll sleep for the first half of the night. For the second half, you have to wake me up so I can take over. If you don’t sleep…”

She paused, then added a touch of coquettish threat in her tone, "Then we don't need to travel tomorrow morning. You have to catch up on your sleep before we leave."

In the darkness, a gentle and satisfied smile silently curved Shen Han's lips.

The care in her words was like a warm current washing over his chilled body.

He took her hand in his and squeezed it gently: "Okay, whatever you say. Go to sleep."

He bent down and carefully tucked the edges of her sleeping bag in to make sure no cold wind could get in.

Watching her finally close her eyes in peace, her long eyelashes cast a faint shadow under her eyelids.

The gentle smile deep in his eyes gradually faded, replaced by a layer of deep contemplation.

Just now, while waiting for Josie in the hallway outside the washroom, he saw a series of footprints in the faint moonlight coming through the window.

The footprint pattern is unique, with a rugged characteristic reminiscent of military combat boots.

Then, recalling the "Fengye Brother" that Xie Jue mentioned earlier who saved them and then disappeared...

He was almost certain that the man named Feng Ye hadn't gone far at all.

Just now, while Josh was washing up, this man... appeared beside Josh.

Shen Han's gaze involuntarily fell back to Josh's sleeping face in the sleeping bag. Her arousal in the washroom just now... suddenly made sense.

He stroked her beautiful face with his fingertips: Xixi, just how many men have you messed with?

As expected, Josie did not get to wake up from Shen Han's call.

When she woke up naturally, the outside world was still pitch black, and the howling wind seemed even louder than before she fell asleep.

The only sounds in the treatment room were the faint red glow of the embers of the fire and the sound of his sleeping companions' breathing.

She sat up quietly, trying not to make a sound so as not to disturb the injured people sleeping nearby. She saw Shen Han leaning against the cold wall, like a silent statue, his gaze fixed on the window and the doorway, seemingly tireless.

A wave of heartache mixed with a touch of helplessness washed over me.

She carefully climbed out of her sleeping bag, walked to his side, and said in a very low voice, her voice hoarse from just waking up and with a hint of reproach, "Didn't we agree to wake you up? Why didn't you wake me?"

Shen Han turned his head at the sound of her voice. When he saw her, his cold and stern features softened instantly, revealing a gentle outline in the dim light.

He shook his head gently, his voice equally low: "I'm not sleepy. I didn't want to wake you because you were sleeping so soundly."

He raised his hand, as if to brush away a stray strand of hair from her cheek.

Josie gave him a push on the shoulder without saying a word, the force not strong, but with an unyielding insistence: "You have to sleep, even if you're not sleepy! Go now."

She pointed to the sleeping bag that still held her body heat.

Shen Han was pushed back slightly by her. Looking into her eyes, which were still bright in the darkness and filled with concern and persistence, the discomfort that had lingered all night seemed to melt away quietly.

Instead of getting up immediately, he suddenly reached out and forcefully pulled her into his arms.

Caught off guard, Josie let out a soft gasp as she crashed into his firm, warm chest, her nostrils instantly filled with his clean, crisp scent.

"What's wrong?" She quickly turned around to look at the sleeping people, afraid of waking them. "There are still people next to us!"

"Hmm," Shen Han's deep voice sounded above her head. He tightened his arms around her, as if he wanted to meld her into his very bones.

His chin rested gently on the top of her head, his voice extremely low, almost a whisper in her ear.

"Xixi..." His breath brushed against her earlobe, "No matter what happens in the future, no matter who else... is by your side..." He paused, as if choosing his words carefully, "Never... push me away. Okay?"
