Chapter 185 Stinging Him
Qiao Xi had already informed Shen Han two days in advance.
She went straight to his room and knocked on the door: "Chen Han, it's time to leave."
Shen Han was changing clothes, wearing a tactical vest that revealed his well-defined abs and V-line.
The man was tall with particularly well-defined muscles.
Josie smiled, looked him up and down, and exclaimed with satisfaction, "Hmm, nice abs."
Shen Han felt his Adam's apple bob as she stared at him like that. "If you keep looking, I'm not leaving today."
Josie chuckled, "I'll go out and wait for you. Hurry up and come out."
As soon as Qiao Xi left, a slight smile appeared on his lips. He quickly walked to a corner, picked up his already packed backpack, which contained a box of catalysts that Fu Jinxing had sent over.
He slung the huge backpack over his shoulder and put it on easily.
I walked to the main gate and met up with Josie, who was talking to someone.
"Auntie, I'll be going now. I'll leave this land to you."
"What's the trouble? Isn't this what we should do?" the middle-aged woman said with a smile.
The two walked side by side out of the core area of the base and through the outer area that was under construction.
The survivors and laborers they encountered along the way greeted them warmly.
"Sister Xixi, Brother Chenhan, are you going on a long trip?"
“Yes,” Josie replied with a smile, “The base is short of some essential supplies, let’s go out and think of a solution.”
Be very careful on the road! It's too dangerous outside.
"Okay, thank you everyone! Keep up the good work, and I hope that when we come back, we will see a more beautiful and stronger home!"
Don't worry! We'll definitely do our best!
Sunlight shines on the busy and hopeful land, and people wear hopeful smiles on their faces.
In this harmonious and warm atmosphere, Qiao Xi and Shen Han bid farewell to everyone, their figures gradually disappearing at the end of the path leading from the mountain valley to the outside world.
The chill of early spring is still biting, with extreme temperature differences between day and night, and breath turns to frost.
Shen Han protected Qiao Xi closely, always choosing a sheltered spot for camping, lighting a campfire, and wrapping her tightly in a thick blanket. They would only set off when the sun was high in the sky and would find a place to rest early when the sun was setting.
That evening, Josie looked at the map, her brows furrowed slightly: "We're moving too slowly. At this rate, even if we successfully acquire the crystal core, it will probably take two months for a round trip. I'm a little worried about not being able to go back for so long."
This is the foundation upon which they can live well in the apocalypse; it cannot afford to have even the slightest mishap.
The catalyst must be in their hands; it cannot be taken away by other forces.
Shen Han added a piece of firewood to the fire, and sparks crackled and popped.
"We'll set off at dawn starting tomorrow." We can always wear a few more layers of clothing.
"No need to rush." Shen Han turned around and took her slightly cool hand. "You should rest well tonight. I'll go look around the neighborhood to see if there are any bicycles that are still usable. Having a means of transportation will make things much faster."
Bicycles are the best mode of transportation in the apocalypse. They don't require energy, and they make it easy to avoid zombies and get stuck on the road.
But it's estimated that many people have realized the benefits of bicycles, and now it's hard to find a bicycle that isn't broken.
"Okay, then hurry back. Be careful, and if you really can't find it, don't force it. We'll keep an eye out on the road tomorrow."
"Okay." Shen Han stood up, carefully checked the surroundings, and placed a dagger within Qiao Xi's reach. "I'll be back as soon as possible. In case... anything happens, remember to transform to protect yourself immediately and wait for me."
"Don't worry, I'll be fine." Josie smiled at him, reassuring him.
Shen Han's figure quickly disappeared into the ruins shrouded in twilight.
After waiting idly for a while, Josie decided to cook a pot of porridge so that Shen Han could eat it when he returned.
She sat by the fire, took out a small gas stove, and prepared to boil some water first.
Silence reigned all around, broken only by the faint sound of burning flames and the occasional strange noises made by zombies in the distance.
Just then, a series of unhurried footsteps came from behind, making a clear sound as they stepped on the gravel.
Josie paused.
With such a commotion, it must be that Shen Han has returned.
She subconsciously relaxed and asked without turning her head, "You're back? Did you find the car?"
There was no response from behind, only the sound of footsteps stopping not far away.
Josie turned around in confusion, but in the flickering firelight, she didn't see Shen Han's cold and stern face. Instead, she saw another face with a wild and untamed air and deep, dark eyes.
Seal the wild!
Upon seeing him, Josie immediately recalled his actions during their last parting, and a lump formed in her throat. She turned her head away, not wanting to acknowledge him.
This "ignoring" actually hides a sense of unquestionable trust.
She knew that no matter how angry he was, he wouldn't really hurt her.
Feng Ye strode over to her, looking down at her with a mocking smile: "Did they feed you?"
Josie looked up, meeting his complicated gaze, and deliberately said in a relaxed, even slightly provocative tone, "Since you already know, why are you asking?"
A cold, sharp glint flashed in Feng Ye's eyes. As if stung by those words, his voice deepened, "Qiao Xi, I have never seen a more cruel woman than you."
These words were like a fine needle, gently pricking Josie's heart.
She did feel guilty towards him. She was the one who took the initiative to approach him first, but after he fell into depravity, she chose to leave and avoid him for various reasons.
She pursed her lips, her tone softening with sincere apology: "I'm sorry, Feng Ye. I admit I was wrong in some ways, and I apologize. But..."
“But you’ve already chosen to abandon me, haven’t you?” He interrupted her before she could finish, his voice filled with intense anger.
Josie choked on her words.
What she originally intended to say might not have been so direct, but the meaning was essentially the same.
He suddenly lunged closer, leaning in, his powerful aura instantly enveloping Josie: "Don't even think about it! You provoked me first, Josie. This game won't end until I say it's over!"
Before he could finish speaking, he leaned down and kissed those lips that he had longed for day and night, lips that he both loved and hated.
It wasn't like the tenderness between lovers, but more like the tearing and biting of a wild beast, carrying a sense of punishment, gnawing and devouring, as if it wanted to tear her apart and eat her whole, to completely merge with her.
Josie hissed softly, feeling a slight pain on her lips.
The cry of pain seemed to bring him back to his senses for a moment. He stopped his slightly rough biting and instead began to explore more deeply, seizing her breath and warmth.
The kiss was long and suffocating, filled with endless longing and unvented anger.
After a long while, his lips finally moved down her slender neck, leaving a warm, moist trail.
Josie raised her hand and placed it on his firm shoulder, her fingertips applying slight pressure, wanting to push him away yet unable to resist indulging.
