Chapter 211 A Breath Missed a Beat
"What? He is..." Shen Qianqian was startled, her expression changed slightly, and she immediately shouted to her men, "Stop! Let go!"
The entangled vines and icicles vanished instantly.
Mr. Lu gave a heavy "humph," straightened his clothes, and his face remained unpleasant.
"Yes...he insulted me first, so it's not my fault..."
Shen Qianqian mumbled an explanation, but in her heart she felt a wave of fear and relief. Fortunately, she hadn't actually done it. Otherwise, if she had hurt Lu Yuyang's father, it would have been even more difficult for her to win over Lu Yuyang.
"Leave now! Our safe zone doesn't welcome troublemakers like you!" Enraged, Mr. Lu issued an expulsion order.
"Uncle, I'm sorry, I really didn't mean it, I didn't know it was you..." Shen Qianqian still wanted to salvage her image.
But Mr. Lu was furious and didn't want to listen. He interrupted her directly: "I don't care if you did it on purpose! A woman like you should stay away from my son! My son will never like someone like you... someone who is fickle and doesn't know anything!" He was so angry that he spoke without thinking.
Shen Qianqian's face turned pale and red after being publicly reprimanded, looking extremely unsightly.
She gritted her teeth, thinking there was no need to argue with this old fogey; as long as she could win over Lu Yuyang, that would be enough.
If all else fails... she'll accumulate points and use the system items directly on Lu Yuyang!
Finally, she glared at Josie and slunk away with her men.
Watching them walk away, Mr. Lu finally breathed a sigh of relief. His gaze then fell on Qiao Xi, and he felt a mix of emotions as he recalled her earlier words, "Lu Yuyang's father."
He gave a soft hum, offering a slightly awkward reminder like an elder: "Be more mindful! Have some sense of crisis! Don't be unable to even keep your own man in check!"
Josie looked puzzled and pointed to herself: "Are you talking to me?"
"If it's not you, then who is it?" Mr. Lu said irritably.
Josie found it even funnier and deliberately asked, "My man? Which one are you referring to?"
Mr. Lu's eyes widened instantly, as if he had heard something shocking: "You... what did you say? Didn't you just hear that woman openly coveting Yu Yang? If you don't keep a close eye on him, what if Yu Yang is tricked away by that kind of shameless woman?"
Upon hearing this, Josie simply smiled indifferently, her tone relaxed and even somewhat nonchalant: "If they've been tricked, then there's no point in keeping them. There's no point in forcing them."
After saying that, she very naturally reached out and took Feng Ye's arm next to her, and said to Lu's father, "If there's nothing else, we'll be leaving now."
Upon seeing this, Mr. Lu was first stunned, then suddenly realized what was happening. He was so angry that he immediately stepped forward to stop the two of them, his fingers trembling as he pointed at their intertwined arms: "You... what is your relationship with him?"
Josie looked up at him, her face showing no sign of guilt, her composure was outrageous: "It's the kind of relationship you're thinking of."
Mr. Lu was so angry he almost fainted, his voice rising: "You...aren't you Yu Yang's girlfriend? How come you're flirting with another man again?"
Instead, Josie gave him an even brighter smile, her tone even a little deliberate: "Didn't you always disagree before? So now's the perfect time to formally introduce you. Feng Ye is also my man."
After saying that, she stopped looking at Lu's father's face, which was ashen with anger and looked like he was about to faint at any moment.
Mr. Lu stood there, unable to utter a complete sentence for a long time: "You...you...this is outrageous! Outrageous!"
Mr. Lu was so angry that his beard bristled and his eyes widened. His chest heaved violently, and his blood pressure was estimated to have soared to a dangerous level.
He had just begun to change his opinion of Josie because of his wife's persuasion and his changed understanding of the apocalypse, but he never expected her to be so "shameless" as to admit to having relationships with other men to his face and to talk back to him like that!
But Josie didn't care what he thought at all.
She took a step to leave, but then remembered that the other person was, after all, Lu Yuyang's father.
He turned and glanced at the elder who was quite angry, his tone calm but with a hint of cold warning: "Mr. Lu, in the apocalypse, no one will stay by anyone's side as a bodyguard forever. So I advise you to be careful with your words and actions, speak less and offend people less, for your own safety."
After saying that, she didn't give Lu's father's interesting expression another glance, took Feng Ye's arm, and turned to leave decisively.
"How...how outrageous!" Father Lu pointed at their departing figures, his fingers trembling, feeling a wave of dizziness wash over him.
He originally thought that apart from her family background, this girl was quite good in terms of personal qualities, and that it was fine if his son liked her. He never expected... never expected that she would be so fickle!
Don't even think about him agreeing to her being with his son!
After walking a short distance, Feng Ye turned to look at the composed girl beside him and said in a low voice, "He is Lu Yuyang's father. Aren't you afraid of upsetting him and making it even harder to get along with him in the future?"
He could tell that Qiao Xi wasn't completely indifferent to Lu Yuyang.
Josie shrugged, her tone nonchalant: "There's nothing to be afraid of. I'm just telling him the truth. I can't keep it a secret forever, or pretend to be someone I'm not to please him."
She paused, then added, "Besides, whether he agrees or not isn't that important to me."
Feng Ye's eyes were filled with complex and unreadable emotions. He remained silent for a few seconds before slowly asking, "What about Lu Yuyang? Does he also know that you... have me and other men by your side?" He asked the question that had been lingering in his heart for a long time.
“Yes,” Josie nodded, without any intention of hiding anything, “I don’t intend to hide it from him. Likewise, he has the right to leave at any time.” Her attitude was so frank as to be almost cruel, as if she were stating something that had nothing to do with her.
As soon as Josie finished speaking, she keenly noticed that the large hand holding her palm suddenly tightened, so much so that it even caused her a slight pain.
She looked up, meeting Feng Ye's deep eyes, raised an eyebrow, and said in a tone that was both provocative and clear: "You are the same, Feng Ye. You have the same freedom of choice."
Feng Ye was taken aback by her words, then chuckled softly as if he had heard the funniest joke in the world. His laughter carried a hint of helplessness and resigned self-mockery: "The right to choose freely? Qiao Xi, after meeting you, what other choice do I have?"
They are already deeply mired in the quagmire, unable and unwilling to extricate themselves.
Just as Josie was about to say something, her gaze inadvertently swept across the crowd not far away, and out of the corner of her eye, she caught a seemingly ordinary face that made her blood almost freeze instantly!
Her heart skipped a beat, and she gasped for breath.
The man, as if sensing her gaze, turned his head toward her, revealing a seemingly friendly and even somewhat naive smile.
