Chapter 223 We meet again!

Chapter 223 We meet again!

Upon seeing that it was Josie, the guard immediately felt reassured and quickly reported, "Miss Josie, it's great that you've arrived! There are five or six people outside, led by a man and a woman. They claim to be high-level ability users and are very insistent on joining our base. They demand that we open the gate immediately."

"A high-level ability user?" Josie's heart skipped a beat.

"Yes, and they specifically asked to see the person in charge. When we said we needed to verify their identities according to procedure, they became a bit impatient."

“Okay, I’ll go up and take a look,” Josie said, stepping onto the stairs leading to the top of the city wall.

She had just stepped onto the city wall and hadn't even had a chance to see the people below clearly when she heard a slightly familiar male voice, tinged with exaggerated surprise:

"Miss Qiao, what a coincidence! We meet again! I really appreciate it if you could give me directions last time outside the safe zone!"

Josie looked down following the sound, her pupils narrowing slightly.

Standing beneath the city wall is Qin Feng, who possesses the ability to seize supernatural powers!

And standing right next to him was Shen Qianqian, who drove a campervan and collected "handsome men".

What caught her attention even more was that the number of men around Shen Qianqian seemed to have decreased since the last time she saw her, leaving only five.

Alarm bells were ringing in Josie's mind!

She absolutely refused to believe it was a chance encounter.

These people were very likely following their migration group all the way here; their intentions are despicable!

She quickly suppressed her shock and disgust, her face remaining impassive, even revealing a perfectly measured look of bewilderment and aloofness. Her gaze swept over Qin Feng, and she spoke in a cold tone, "What do you mean, 'lead the way'? Have we met before?"

Qin Feng, standing below the city gate, clearly hadn't expected Qiao Xi to react this way. The surprised smile on his face froze instantly, and he was stunned.

His prepared remarks were suddenly stuck in his throat.

Why would Josie give him a chance to react or strike up a conversation?

She looked down at them with a cold, businesslike expression, as if she were looking at a group of insignificant strangers.

Ha, who says she has to remember someone just because she met them once?

Is Qin Feng some kind of unforgettable, super handsome guy?

Or does he think he's incredibly charming and that every woman would be impressed by him?

Josie's cold gaze swept over each of them, finally settling on Qin Feng. Her voice carried clearly through the city wall: "If you don't know him, leave now. We don't accept outsiders here."

Beneath the towering city walls, Qin Feng had already composed himself.

He looked up at Josie on the city wall, a gentle smile curving his lips.

"We have indeed met before, I'm just expressing my gratitude..."

Josie looked weary and didn't even look at Qin Feng directly. Her voice was filled with undisguised indifference: "Dozens, if not hundreds, of people come to ask me for directions every day. Do you expect me to remember them all?"

She finally looked up, her gaze lightly sweeping across Qin Feng's face.

"You look so ordinary, you're completely forgettable, why should I remember you?"

There was a momentary stagnation in the air.

Qin Feng's fingers tightened sharply at his side, his nails almost digging into his palm.

But the smile on his face remained unchanged, only a hint of scarlet killing intent flashed in the deepest part of his eyes.

That reckless woman... Once he acquires all the powerful superpowers, he'll make her pay for today's humiliation.

He would spare her life, making her the lowest of playthings.

"Miss Josie is joking." Qin Feng's voice remained gentle, as if he didn't care at all.

Josie had completely lost her patience. She turned to the fully armed guard captain beside her: "Martial law is currently in effect. All unfamiliar superhumans must undergo triple verification. As for these few below..."

She curled her red lips slightly and uttered cold words: "Permanently blacklisted, never allowed to be added."

The captain immediately accepted the order and began to drive away the superhumans below.

There were even guns pointed at them.

Shen Qianqian shrank back in fright when the gun barrels were pointed at her, but was then enraged by Qiao Xi's condescending attitude.

What gives her the right to be so arrogant?

Qin Feng secretly squeezed her arm, and Shen Qianqian immediately received the signal, tilting her head back and trying her best to make her voice sound pitiful:

"Miss Qiao, we've escaped all the way from the occupied zone and are exhausted. We just want to rest in a safe city for a few days and replenish our supplies... Please make an exception for us, we'll definitely leave in a few days!"

"Oh? You want to rest..." Josie drawled out, as if she was thinking seriously.

Shen Qianqian nodded quickly, squeezing out a few tears: "Yes, yes, yes! As long as there's a place for us to rest, that's fine!"

Josie suddenly laughed, a bright yet malicious laugh. She pointed to the dilapidated ruins outside the city wall: "There are plenty of empty houses outside, you can rest however you like. We have too little space here, and too many people, so we really can't fit everyone in."

"You!" Shen Qianqian's pretense crumbled instantly, her pretty face contorted with rage. "Who do you think you are? What gives you the right to make decisions all by yourself? Get your manager out here! I want to talk to him!"

She had already found out before she came that this base was originally a secret military laboratory, and now it was jointly controlled by several powerful teams of superhumans. How could a young woman be in charge?

Josie leaned forward slightly, the evening breeze ruffling her short, neat hair. She looked down at Shen Qianqian, her smile growing increasingly malicious and playful:

"But what can I do? I have the right to keep people from coming in if I don't like them."

She snapped her fingers lightly: "And I just can't stand the sight of you."

"Josie!" Shen Qianqian cried out shrilly, almost jumping up.

But Josie had already given up on paying attention to her.

She glanced one last time at the silent Qin Feng, then turned away without looking at the varied expressions on the faces of the people below the city wall, and her figure disappeared swiftly at the end of the steps shrouded in twilight.

Beneath the city wall, Shen Qianqian's chest heaved violently as she continued to curse Qiao Xi's arrogance and rudeness.

After cursing for a while, she suddenly noticed the unusual silence around her.

She turned her head sharply and saw Qin Feng staring intently in the direction Qiao Xi had left, his eyes deep and terrifying.

Shen Qianqian's heart skipped a beat, and a strong sense of crisis gripped her.

She knew all too well the allure of women like Josie to men: beautiful, powerful, and aloof, like a rose with thorns, easily arousing a man's desire to conquer.

"Qin Feng? What are you looking at?" Her voice carried a sharpness and panic that she herself was unaware of.

Qin Feng snapped out of his daze, the dark light in his eyes instantly vanishing, replaced by just the right amount of disgust and exhaustion.

He sighed, reached out and put his arm around Shen Qianqian's shoulder, his tone gentle yet tinged with reproach:

"It's nothing. I was just thinking that woman is so arrogant and domineering, she's not even worth a hair on your head. She's stopped us from entering the city time and time again, it's really annoying... I'm just worried that you're tired."
