Chapter 256 A Fulfilling a Wish
Mu Yanzhou, accompanied by several close followers, hurried to the entrance.
His gaze swept across the crowd and precisely locked onto Josie, his face instantly blossoming with undisguised surprise and a radiant smile.
Under the watchful eyes of countless curious or surprised people around him, Mu Yanzhou walked straight to Qiao Xi and, without even waiting for her to speak, stretched out his long arm and picked her up in his arms.
"Mu Yanzhou! So many people are watching!" Qiao Xi laughed, but still whispered a reminder to him not to forget his identity.
Mu Yanzhou didn't care at all. His arm around her was firm and strong. He lowered his head and chuckled in her ear, his voice full of pleasure: "Let them watch if they want. It's a good opportunity for everyone to get to know you, my leader's wife."
After saying that, he picked up Josie and strode into the base in full view of everyone, leaving behind a chorus of whispers and envious glances.
Xie Jue followed behind them, watching Mu Yanzhou's tall and upright back and Qiao Xi nestled in his arms. The boy pursed his lips, his eyes surging with uncontrollable envy and a hint of sharp jealousy.
In the end, all these complex emotions turned into a deep sorrow falling on Josie's back: Sister, when will your gaze linger on me?
Mu Yanzhou's smile never faded the whole way. He instructed his men to settle Xie Jue and the other entourage, while he himself couldn't wait to carry Qiao Xi back to his residence.
Upon entering the room and closing the door, the usually stern and authoritative base leader carefully placed Josie on the bedside, his eyes overflowing with smiles and affection.
"Why didn't you tell me you were coming? I could have arranged for someone to pick you up. It's such a dangerous journey!"
Josie looked at him like a big boy who had just received a favorite toy, and her heart melted. She reached out and hugged his neck, asking with a smile, "If I told you in advance, would it still be a surprise? So, are you happy?"
"Yes!" Mu Yanzhou nodded emphatically, staring intently at her, his voice a little hoarse, "Happy... how could I not be happy? This is the happiest day I've had in the past six months."
The last time I was this happy was also because she was by my side.
Before Qiao Xi could say anything more, Mu Yanzhou's longing, which had been building up for months, erupted like a volcano.
His passionate kisses rained down on her, carrying an undeniable force and desire, as if he wanted to devour and melt her entire being.
Clothes were scattered all over the floor from the doorway to the bedside, telling of the eagerness of a long-awaited reunion.
As the sun dipped westward, moonlight quietly seeped into the room, casting hazy, intertwined, undulating shadows on the walls.
...
He took a deep breath, forcibly suppressing his restlessness, and held her tightly in his arms. He nuzzled the top of her head with his chin and coaxed her softly in a hoarse voice, "It's my fault... I won't bother you anymore. Go to sleep, sweetie."
But how could Josie possibly fall asleep so easily?
Although the man promised not to make any more forceful moves, his hands still roamed restlessly over her smooth back and waist, carrying a clear lingering affection and restrained pleasure.
Noticing the woman's glare—a gaze that, even with its weariness, remained beautiful and captivating—Mu Yanzhou chuckled softly, his voice husky and sexy, tinged with a hint of grievance: "Xixi...please understand me, I've waited almost a year for this day..."
Seeing his dignified demeanor in public, yet now acting like a pitiful dog begging for candy, Josie's heart softened completely. She could only sigh helplessly and let him be.
In the end, she succumbed to exhaustion under his gentle "harassment" and fell into a deep sleep.
In the days that followed, Mu Yanzhou was just like a "tyrant" who stopped holding court in the morning.
He delegated most of the base's daily affairs to his deputy, while he himself wished he could stick to Josie every minute of every day.
He would either accompany her on a tour of the base, explaining its layout and development, or take her for a walk in a relatively safe area outside the base to get some fresh air.
More often than not, the two of them would snuggle in their room, enjoying intimate moments undisturbed, with nighttime intimacy being an essential part of their time together.
Time flies like water, and more than half a month has passed in the blink of an eye.
Xie Jue tried to see Qiao Xi several times, but was told either that "the leader took his wife out on an inspection tour" or "the wife is still resting."
He finally lost his patience and stopped Mu Yanzhou when Mu Yanzhou appeared alone to handle an emergency.
The young man straightened his back and his eyes were sharp. "Chief Mu, we have been out for almost thirty days. As agreed, it is time to prepare to return to the Spring City base."
Upon hearing this, Mu Yanzhou immediately frowned. A month had passed just like that?
She was filled with reluctance: "It's only been a month, but she stayed at the Spring City base for a year."
Xie Jue remained expressionless, and his words precisely struck a nerve with Mu Yanzhou: "Chuncheng is my sister's home, and there are several other partners of hers waiting there."
Mu Yanzhou was taken aback. Looking into the boy's seemingly all-knowing eyes, he felt that the boy harbored a hidden hostility towards him.
He wanted to find another excuse to delay for a few more days, just then, Josie woke up from her afternoon nap and came out for a walk to get some fresh air, and happened to overhear their conversation.
“Xiao Jue is right,” Qiao Xi stepped forward and naturally took Mu Yanzhou’s arm, saying softly, “I’ve been here for a month now, it’s time to go back. Otherwise, those at home might really get restless.”
Mu Yanzhou was filled with reluctance. He took her hand in his own, his voice filled with deep affection: "It's only been a month... Now that you're gone, I don't know how long I'll have to wait to see you again."
Seeing the disappointment in his eyes, Josie felt a pang of sympathy and gently comforted him, "Don't be like this. You can come see me in two months. Then I'll find another opportunity to come see you in two or three months. That way, we can see each other at least four or five times a year."
But Mu Yanzhou greedily wanted to see her every day and hold her in his arms.
However, as the leader whose life and death depended on tens of thousands of people, the responsibility on his shoulders prevented him from acting recklessly.
He could only sigh deeply and compromise, "Okay... then, stay with me for another week, okay? Let me prepare more things for you to take back."
