Chapter 53 Stealing My Woman?
As the middle-aged woman's shrill voice rang out, the man outside began frantically banging on the door.
"Open the door! Open it for me right now!" The voice was rough and unpleasant, carrying a violent threat. "If you don't open it, I'll come in and kill you!"
Josie lightly tapped the dagger with her slender fingers; she hadn't expected the woman's son to return so quickly.
There was no panic in her beautiful eyes, but rather a hint of nonchalant ease.
These apartments are all equipped with sturdy security doors, which are almost impossible for a beginner-level ability user to break through unless they are a metal-type ability user.
Josie maintained her elegant posture, listening to the man's hysterical banging on the door outside without even frowning.
Her delicate fingers toyed with the sharp dagger without even turning her head.
The middle-aged woman's initial elation gradually turned into anxiety.
Her obese body writhed uneasily, her cloudy eyes darting around: "Did you hear me? Open the door now! My son might spare your life because you're pretty, but if you're too late, you're dead!"
“Since nothing I do will turn out well,” Josie’s red lips curled into a mocking smile, “why should I let you go?”
An incredulous expression appeared on the middle-aged woman's greasy face: "My son is a superhuman! Do you even know what a superhuman is?"
She thought Josie wasn't afraid because she was ignorant.
"I don't understand." Josie blinked in perfect agreement, her tone as innocent as a curious student.
The middle-aged woman immediately revealed a smug look, her fat cheeks bunching up.
“A superhuman is…” She suddenly stopped, her wrinkled forehead furrowing as she racked her brains for an explanation, “…someone who can breathe fire from their hands! Scared yet? Let me out right now!”
The sounds of banging on the door from outside and the middle-aged woman's clumsy attempts at popular science from inside were constant.
Josie yawned boredly and leaned back lazily in her chair: "You two are putting on a show here!"
As soon as he finished speaking, the area outside the door suddenly fell silent.
The middle-aged woman perked up her ears, her expression turning anxious: "Son? Are you still outside?"
There was no response from outside for a long time.
The middle-aged woman tried to walk out while Josh was distracted, but Josh quickly blocked her way with a dagger.
She kept her eyes on the security door while trying to stop the middle-aged woman.
The silence continued, but Josie keenly sensed that something was amiss.
Her heart suddenly skipped a beat without warning.
She immediately threatened the middle-aged woman with a dagger, "Back off!"
The middle-aged woman, fearing that she would go crazy and stab herself again, raised her hands and retreated in fear, pleading, "I'm retreating, I'm retreating right now, please don't kill me."
As soon as he finished speaking, a strange "clicking" sound came from the security door lock.
The middle-aged woman's cloudy eyes suddenly lit up, and the fat on her face trembled with excitement.
The moment the door was pried open, a short man appeared in the doorway.
His appearance was not just ordinary, it was downright ugly!
A ferocious light gleamed in those beady green eyes.
He was clearly stunned when he saw Josie standing next to his mother.
The girl in front of me was stunningly beautiful, yet she exuded a deadly aura.
Seizing the fleeting opportunity, Josie moved like a ghost behind the middle-aged woman, her sharp dagger pressed precisely against her thick neck.
"Ah! Don't kill me!" The middle-aged woman screamed like a pig being slaughtered, her fat body trembling uncontrollably, her legs as weak as noodles.
The short man at the door finally came to his senses and pointed a rough finger at Josie: "Let my mother go! I might spare your life."
Josie sneered, her laughter crisp yet icy: "Your mother broke into my house and robbed me, you broke my door lock, and now you're talking about sparing my life?"
The middle-aged woman hurriedly waved her hands, her thick double chin trembling incessantly: "Young lady, I'm here to exchange things with you, we had an agreement, didn't we?"
"Who said anything to you?" Josie's cold gaze pierced her like a knife. "Did you get my permission before you came in?"
The man at the door greedily scanned the supplies filling the room, already understanding what had happened.
But he didn't think his mother was wrong at all; in his distorted worldview, this building was his territory.
The apocalypse gave him the opportunity to act arrogantly and domineeringly, so how could he possibly let it go?
Those rat-like eyes lewdly scanned Josh's body.
Before the apocalypse, he was a complete loser, poor and ugly, who had never even touched a woman's hand.
But the apocalypse changed everything. Having awakened his superpowers in just three days, he has been living a life he never dreamed of before for the past two months, with countless women lining up for him to choose from.
However, none of those women were as beautiful as the one in front of me.
He licked his chapped lips, and a burst of flame shot out from his palm: "Release my mother, or I'll burn all your supplies!"
Josie knew that in the apocalypse, giving in one step would lead to giving in one step more, until there was no hope of redemption.
A mocking smile curved her red lips: "Then let's see if my knife is faster, or if your fire burns faster."
The middle-aged woman was so frightened that she waved her hands repeatedly, "Young lady, my son didn't mean that. Please move the dagger away first, and I'll let my son leave immediately. What do you say?"
She realized that this girl was completely unyielding!
The man hadn't expected his threat to be ineffective, and a hint of surprise flashed in his beady eyes.
Upon hearing his mother's words, he seemingly obediently extinguished the flames, a disgusting smile sneering across his ordinary face: "We're all neighbors, why make things so tense?"
He rubbed his rough hands together again. "This is the end of the world. You and I have made such a fuss. Have you thought about how to end this? Why don't you apologize to me and come with me? I'll protect you from now on, and no one will dare to mess with you."
"Isn't it you who's after me?"
The man didn't deny it, but he lost patience and immediately switched to a threatening tone.
"Think it over carefully! You can kill my mother, but you can't kill me. I have plenty of ways to make you wish you were dead!"
Josie suddenly looked up, her gaze passing over him and looking toward the doorway, her smile deepening.
The man was dazzled by her sudden smile, and his tone softened slightly, "I'll give you ten minutes to think about it. If you don't agree, don't blame me for being unkind."
"You want me to be with you?" Josie's voice suddenly became charming, completely different from her previous coldness.
The man rubbed his hands together excitedly: "Of course! Follow me and you'll live the high life!"
“That’s a question for my man,” Josie said with a light laugh.
"Your man? Tell him to come out!" The man grinned maliciously, plotting to kill the woman and take her away.
Josie gestured with her chin for him to turn around and look.
The moment the man turned around, he met a pair of extremely dangerous eyes.
A tall, imposing man leaned lazily against the doorframe, a dangerous smile playing on his handsome face: "You came to my house to steal my woman?"
The short man's hair stood on end, and he instinctively unleashed a fire attack...
