Chapter 83 Don't Panic

Chapter 83 Don't Panic

For the next ten days, Xie Jue absorbed all the survival skills like a greedy sponge.

His growth rate is astonishing. Xie Jue is now like a wolf cub, and even an ordinary adult would probably have a hard time hurting him.

Josie would bring fresh vegetables from the safe zone every day, while the boy always covered his face with soot.

Such a beautiful face, surviving in a place like a tent area, would be extremely dangerous even for a boy.

But Josie didn't stop him from returning to the tent area. Only the weak are picky about their environment, while the strong can survive in any environment.

She believed that Xie Jue could do it!

When the eleventh morning arrived, Josie stood at the entrance to the safe zone as usual.

Josie frowned as she stared at the sun high in the sky.

Aside from the hesitation on the first day, Xie Jue was always the one who waited in advance.

A sense of unease rose from the bottom of my heart.

After only a slight hesitation, Josie stepped inside.

That child has most likely encountered some difficult situation.

With hurried steps, at the corner, he bumped into Lu Yuyang and other superhumans who were fully prepared to go.

They were clearly leaving the safe zone to carry out a mission.

"Xixi, why are you in such a hurry? Did something happen?"

Lu Yuyang has been busy with missions lately and hasn't seen her even once.

"I have something to do, I'm going to the tent area."

She didn't have time for pleasantries; after saying a few words, she only paused briefly before continuing on her way.

The superhumans around Lu Yuyang stared at her curiously as she walked away.

"Captain Lu, is this also a superhuman? She's so beautiful."

Lu Yuyang did not answer directly, "Today's task is not difficult. Wen Shan, you lead everyone to complete the task."

Qiao Xi had only walked two blocks when Lu Yuyang caught up with her.

What brings you here?

"The tent area is not safe, I'll stay with you."

The two walked together and soon arrived at the tent area.

Lu Yuyang knew of the existence of the tent area, but had never set foot there.

The cramped tent area was filled with an atmosphere of decay and despair, and the winding passageways were lined with filthy shacks.

Some filthy men squatted on the ground, staring at Josie with blatant eyes.

If Lu Yuyang hadn't been so tall and imposing, clearly someone not to be trifled with, they probably would have already caught up.

Lu Yuyang kept a stern face, his gaze sharp and intimidating as he looked at the people in the tent area. He subtly shielded Qiao Xi behind him, blocking their harassing stares.

The tent area is neither very large nor very small.

It's not easy to find someone easily.

After wandering around the area for a while, Josie spotted a makeshift tent that had been overturned in a corner.

The makeshift tent, made of tarpaulin and wooden sticks, was overturned on the ground, its contents scattered everywhere, and a few drops of dark red blood stood out starkly against the dust.

She crouched down, looking at the bloodstains on the ground that were not yet completely dry, and a cold anger welled up in her chest.

"Lu Yuyang, I'm looking for a boy whose face has been blackened. Let's split up and look for him."

"Okay, Xixi, don't panic, he should be nearby."

"Um,"

The two searched quickly through the chaotic tent area, Josie's eyes scanning every dark corner.

Until she heard a familiar sound coming from where the two tents met,

It sounded like a groan of pain.

Josie immediately quickened her pace and arrived at the location where the voice was coming from.

Xie Jue squeezed into the gap in the middle of the tent and moved out step by step.

His left arm hung limply, blood dripping down his arm and leaving a shocking trail on the ground.

"Thank you!"

Hearing the sound, Xie Jue turned around.

His face was clean, but deathly pale, and his lips were bluish from blood loss.

But those eyes remained fierce, like those of a wounded wolf cub, refusing to fall even when it could no longer stand.

The boy's eyes glazed over for a moment when he saw him, as if he hadn't quite caught on.

Only when he saw Josh's face clearly did he seem to finally relax, and his body uncontrollably lurched forward.

Just as Qiao Xi was about to step forward to help him, Lu Yuyang appeared out of nowhere and said, "I'll do it."

After saying that, she walked past her to Xie Jue, bent down and picked him up from the ground.

"The injury is quite serious and needs immediate treatment."

Lu Yuyang frowned and looked down at the boy in his arms.

Xie Jue was lighter than he had imagined; his thin body weighed almost nothing.

Are there any hospitals in the safe zone?

"Yes, don't worry, it's not a fatal injury, it shouldn't be a big problem."

“Okay, let’s go quickly.” Qiao Xi said decisively, and followed closely behind Lu Yuyang.

*******

Medical resources in the safe zone are limited, but fortunately Xie Jue's injuries are not fatal.

The doctor cleaned his wound and bandaged it to stop the bleeding.

Lu Yuyang stood aside, looking at Xie Jue, who was unconscious on the hospital bed.

She was even considered pretty, with thick eyelashes and delicate features, but she still had a childish look and appeared non-threatening.

He's just a child...

Does he live alone in the tent area?

"Yes, he had an older sister, but she passed away a while ago, and now he lives alone."

Looking at Xie Jue, who was sleeping soundly with his eyes closed and showing no aggression, he realized that he was still too young. The tent area was a mixed bag, and some people had already lost their human form.

Moreover, she felt that if it weren't for those ten days of fighting the zombies, he might not have been found alive.

“I have a spare small apartment in the safe zone where he can stay temporarily.”

Josie looked at him with some surprise.

"He can't survive in the tent area like this."

He's right. Xie Jue needs time to grow; it can't be achieved overnight.

Lion cubs also need time to grow before they can become kings.

"I'll ask him when he wakes up."

When Xie Jue woke up, he found himself lying on a clean and soft bed.

Sunlight streamed in through the gaps in the curtains; there was no stench of decay or blood in the air, only a faint smell of disinfectant.

He sat up abruptly, aggravating the wound on his arm and gasping in pain.

Looking around, it was a simple but tidy little room with a water glass and pills on the table.

The door was gently pushed open, and Josie walked in, carrying a bowl of steaming hot porridge.

"Awake?" She walked to the bedside and handed him some porridge. "Eat something to tide you over, and you'll recover faster."

Xie Jue didn't answer, he just stared at her.

Josie raised an eyebrow: "What, don't you recognize me?"

Xie Jue pursed his lips and shook his head. "You saved me again, sister. I owe you my life again."

"Yes, you owe me another life, so you should take good care of yourself, grow stronger, and help me eliminate all those who try to harm me in the future."

Josie smiled and teased him, but Xie Jue heard it all.

"Um."

After saying that, he reached out and took the porridge that Josie handed him.

He raised his hand, but then it fell back down in pain.

Seeing this, Josie simply sat down on the edge of the bed and started feeding him.

"Open your mouth..."

The porridge had already been fed to him, but he was still in a daze.

He wasn't just spacing out; he felt embarrassed.

Aside from being fed by his mother and sister during his childhood, he hadn't been treated like this for many years.

"Sister, please let go..."
