Chapter 90

Chapter 90

"They are human, not zombies."

As for humans, there's nothing to worry about.

What they are worried about is evolving zombies.

"Okay, never mind, eat something and get a good night's sleep."

Many people don't actually have the courage to leave their own living area, so they end up sticking together here.

They lurked in every part of the city like rats in the gutter.

Those who hide well can even coexist with zombies, while those who hide poorly will be slowly found and eaten by evolving zombies.

After they finished eating, Qiao Xi and Xie Jue closed their eyes and quickly fell asleep.

Lu Yuyang leaned against the wall, listening to the faint breathing sounds coming from beside him, his gaze falling on Qiao Xi, who was less than a meter away from him.

The moonlight bathed my eyes, bringing out a soft hue.

When Josie woke up, sunlight was already streaming in through the window.

When her hazy vision fell on Lu Yuyang, who was sitting against the wall, she suddenly snapped back to reality.

She rubbed her messy hair and propped herself up on her arms to sit up. "Didn't we agree that you would keep watch for the first half of the night and I would keep watch for the second half? Why didn't you wake me up?"

"I wasn't sleepy, so I didn't wake you."

"Are you a machine? Aren't you sleepy..." She glanced at him. "We can leave a little later today. You go to sleep first, and I'll have Xie Jue practice at the door. We'll leave after you wake up."

Josie had already stood up, her slender fingers running through her hair, the taut fabric outlining the perfect curves of her body.

Bathed in the glow of dawn, it forms a breathtakingly beautiful scene.

Lu Yuyang felt his heart pounding. When Qiao Xi turned around, to avoid startling her, Lu Yuyang almost immediately closed his eyes, concealing the thick, dark light in them.

Xie Jue had also quietly woken up and quickly tidied himself up.

He had no objection to Josh's arrangements.

The two worked together seamlessly, pulling and killing monsters as before.

Because of Xie Jue's rapid growth, Josie now hardly needs to transform to deal with ordinary zombies.

You can successfully avoid zombie attacks simply by moving around.

After the two fought off wave after wave, Lu Yuyang appeared at the gate.

"I'm well rested."

He approached them carrying several bags, asking, "Should we continue training here, or move on?"

"We're almost done, let's continue."

Lu Yuyang left the safe zone to find more evolved zombies; he couldn't keep accommodating them.

They need to continuously increase the difficulty in order to grow.

Lu Yuyang noticed that they were becoming increasingly adept at dealing with ordinary zombies, so he simply stopped using his superpowers to help them and only dealt them the blows when they were in danger.

After a full day, Lu Yuyang had obtained two evolution zombie crystal cores.

Lu Yuyang was about to speak while holding the crystal core when he suddenly heard a timid cry for help.

"XiXi, can you hear me?"

"Um,"

As Josie responded to him, she glanced around warily.

"Please save us..."

After searching diligently for a while, the three of them finally spotted an elderly person and a child on the balcony above a bus.

Their eyes were full of pleading, fearing that Josie and the other two would turn and leave.

If he hadn't encountered it or was unable to help, Lu Yuyang might not have intervened.

"I'll go take a look."

"Can you get down by yourself?" he asked the old man and the child above.

The seemingly kind and honest old man nodded repeatedly with emotion, tears welling up in his eyes.

"Yes, yes! Thank you, young man."

Lu Yuyang didn't say anything, climbed onto the bus with one hand, and with the help of the old man, finally caught the child and put him on the ground.

At this moment, Qiao Xi and Xie Jue also arrived at the bus.

Neither of them uttered a word, but simply watched the timid child and the grateful old man.

The old man was still quite agile. He climbed over the balcony and slid down the bus. Lu Yuyang only needed to lend a hand, and the old man landed safely.

This delay meant that the last rays of the setting sun had completely dissipated, and darkness enveloped the surroundings.

"It's getting dark, we need to find a place to rest quickly."

The elderly man standing next to me immediately said, "If you don't have a place to stay, you can come with me. Our place is very safe."

Lu Yang turned to look at Qiao Xi, his questioning tone quite obvious.

Josie's gaze fell on the grandfather and grandson, and a smile appeared on her face. "Okay, thank you then."

"What are you thanking me for? If it weren't for you, my grandson and I wouldn't have survived tonight." The old man's wrinkles trembled slightly as he spoke, but his eyes were full of sincerity and honesty, which inexplicably inspired trust in people.

"This way." He gestured for us to proceed.

Qiao Xi and Lu Yuyang followed behind him, with Xie Jue walking between them.

"It's been more than four months since the apocalypse, old man. What do you and your grandson usually eat?" Josie's gaze remained fixed on the grandfather and grandson.

The old man stiffened slightly, then turned to look at them. "How could an old man like me support my grandson? It's all thanks to a group of kind people I met in this apocalypse. We live together and help each other, which is how I survived this chaotic world."

"Then you have indeed met a group of good people."

The old man didn't turn around to look at him, but nodded repeatedly. He didn't say anything more, just led the way.

After walking down a long street, he pushed open a manhole cover.

"The doors and windows of our place are all blocked. Zombies outside can't get in, and humans can only get in through this sewer."

After saying that, he went down the ladder himself.

Lu Yang turned to look at her, his expression clearly fluctuating. "Are you going?"

"We've come this far. Why not go?"

They came out specifically to hone their post-apocalyptic survival skills.

Interacting with humans is also an extremely important survival skill.

In her past life, she had heard about the tragic ends of some powerful superhumans.

They didn't die at the hands of zombies, but at the hands of ordinary people.

Although so far, the grandfather and grandson do not appear to be behaving abnormally.

But if they really have ulterior motives, this is only the early stage of the apocalypse, and ordinary people have limited means. Among them are two people with superpowers, one of whom is a mutated superpower.

Needless to say, Xie Jue was just a wolf cub who hadn't even reached adulthood yet.

When they get ruthless, they can be more brutal than many adults.

If it's a trap, then it'll be a good opportunity to teach them a lesson.

"We'll be there soon," the old man said, lifting the manhole cover from his head.

As the light streamed in, Josie heard the voices of many people.

"Uncle Hu, Xiaoming, you're back?"

Someone greeted them with a smile, but when they saw Qiao Xi and Lu Yuyang behind the grandfather and grandson, their faces clearly showed a wary expression.

"Uncle Hu, who are they?"

The old man immediately smiled and said, "I got stuck on the roof of the car when I was looking for medicine. They saved me, otherwise my grandson and I wouldn't have been able to come back."

The old man's words immediately changed everyone's attitude; their expressions went from wary to grateful.
