Chapter Eight: Irresistible to Men

Chapter Eight: Irresistible to Men

"Senior, it's not even dawn yet, do you want to rest a little longer?"

As Lu Yuyang passed by, he patted the junior student on the shoulder, "No need, go to sleep."

The boy was indeed so sleepy he could barely keep his eyes open, and yawned as he mumbled, "Then I'll go take a nap..."

"Um."

As we walked out of the gas station, the first light of dawn was just beginning to appear in the east.

The waning moon still hung in the sky, making the desolate highway appear even more bleak.

Lu Yuyang stood beside the rusty oil pump, his gaze calmly sweeping over the scattered zombies wandering in the distance.

Suddenly, a figure appeared beside him.

Josie's skin was as white as snow, and her sleepy appearance gave her a lazy look. Her slightly messy long hair added to her fresh and lively appearance.

Lu Yuyang glanced at her briefly before looking away, but his wariness of her had lessened considerably overnight.

If she really wanted to do something, last night was when they were most exhausted, making it very easy for her to use her powers.

But she didn't do that.

So whatever her purpose may be, as long as it doesn't endanger their lives, he can let it go uninvestigated.

Lu Yuyang tacitly accepted her existence, remembering the things he hadn't had time to ask last night.

"Are you sure there's a safe zone?"

Josie smiled slightly.

Sure enough, everyone took the bait.

But she wasn't exactly lying to him; the safe zone actually existed.

He gives her energy, and she gives him directions; it's a win-win situation.

"Of course. I'm with you guys; if I weren't, I'd be wasting my own time."

Lu Yuyang remained silent, seemingly trying to figure out if she was trustworthy.

Josie maintained a smile throughout. "I've said what I needed to say. If you refuse, I can simply wait for the next team to join us. But if you want to find a safe zone, it will probably take at least half a year. Are you sure your juniors can survive that long in the apocalypse?"

After saying that, she stared at Lu Yuyang's handsome face with a leisurely air.

She wasn't in a hurry; they wouldn't lose out on this deal, so Lu Yuyang had no reason to refuse.

But suddenly, Lu Yuyang's expression changed, and his usually calm eyes were filled with murderous intent.

Josie's heart skipped a beat. Had she been too confident and misjudged people's hearts?

Just as she was about to activate her supernatural ability to transform, Lu Yuyang grabbed her arm with one hand and pulled her towards himself.

The next instant, two zombies pounced.

"Pfft," "Pfft"

Two icicles pierced through the zombie's head and landed straight in front of Josie.

Lu Yuyang turned to look at her, "Are you alright?"

Josie's smile vanished; she had indeed been somewhat careless.

"Thankfully, they didn't catch me."

It seems she needs to be even more careful in the wild.

She took a collapsible bowl out of her bag. "Could you give me some ice?"

Lu Yuyang didn't say much, but directly released his supernatural power and threw a lot of ice crystals into her basin.

Josh gave him a bright smile, "Thank you, senior!"

Lu Yuyang was visibly taken aback, and a barely perceptible smile appeared on his lips.

As Qiao Xi turned to leave with the basin in her hands, Lu Yuyang whispered behind her, "There are wandering zombies nearby. Be careful of your surroundings while you're cleaning."

Josie turned around and gave him an OK sign. "Remember, I won't make the same mistake twice."

She happily carried the folding basin to a corner where she could hide her view.

Although the weather wasn't very hot yet, she was used to life in the survivor camp and felt uncomfortable if she didn't wash for a day.

This Lu Yuyang is quite useful; it can not only charge her batteries but also provide her with ice packs for easy washing.

Excellent! Excellent!

She rubbed the ice, and water slid down her palms.

Although the ice water stung her warm skin, she found it sweet.

Half an hour later, as dawn broke, the gas station gradually became noisy.

Some people went to the nearby woods to relieve themselves, while others began patrolling the area to check for safety.

Josie had been lying on the ground like a stone for half a day, not knowing when the group would set off.

After a while, footsteps approached.

Then she heard Lu Yuyang's voice, "Are you still there?"

Josie quickly looked around, and only after making sure no one was around did she transform into human form.

"I'm here."

Lu Yuyang turned around and walked towards her.

He was holding half a raw sweet potato that he had scavenged from Yangjia Village.

He walked up to her, stopped, and handed her the half-eaten sweet potato. "Eat it."

Josie glanced at the sweet potato, but didn't immediately reach out to take it. Her smiling gaze returned to his face. "Give it to me. What will you eat?"

"have eaten."

After saying that, he shoved the half-eaten sweet potato into her hand and said, "Eat this and get ready. We'll be leaving soon."

After watching Lu Yuyang turn and leave, Qiao Xi raised her hand and examined the half-eaten sweet potato.

A slight smile played on his lips. "There are still people in this world willing to share?"

The supplies in her backpack were enough to last her for half a month, so she wasn't actually short of food.

She slowly sat down, leaned against the wall, and took a bite of the sweet potato in her hand.

With a crisp snap, the sweet potato broke apart, releasing a sweet and delicious flavor into my mouth.

She chewed slowly until she finished eating.

Not long after, Lu Yuyang brought his men to her location. "Everyone, take a headcount of the number of people and items. If everything is in order, we'll set off immediately."

While everyone was checking their own things, Josie turned into a piece of paper and floated into Lu Yuyang's pocket.

"Senior, we're ready, we can set off now."

Lu Yuyang raised his hand and touched the pocket on his chest. After confirming the existence of the piece of paper, he nodded. "Okay, let's go."

They were heading in the direction Josie pointed out; ahead lay a large city.

There are at least a million zombies inside.

"Senior, are we going to Ningcheng?"

"Yes," Lu Yuyang said without hiding it from everyone.

"But that city is densely populated, there must be a lot of zombies. Should we take a detour?"

"Okay, let's go to Ningcheng first. If it's impassable, we'll take a detour."

They exited the highway. There weren't many zombies for the first two days, but on the third day, as they reached the edge of the city, the number of zombies increased dramatically.

But whenever they were about to give up, the zombies blocking their way would suddenly disperse.

While the other students were still feeling lucky, Lu Yuyang touched the empty bag in his chest.

He immediately looked up and frowned.

That night, after everyone had fallen asleep, Lu Yuyang walked into the corridor and whispered, "Qiao Xi, come out."

Josie stretched out and transformed into human form, took out a folding basin, and waved it at him with a smile.

Lu Yuyang tacitly condensed ice crystals and put them into her basin.

"Lu Yuyang, you are such a good person." She didn't hold back her praise.

With him around, she always manages to stay fresh.

Watching the girl happily slip into the empty room to wash up, Lu Yuyang silently stood guard outside the door.

The sound of soft water and humming could be heard from inside the house.

Are you that happy?

Even though he was mentally exhausted, perhaps influenced by his mindset, a smile appeared on Lu Yuyang's lips.

After washing up, Qiao Xi pushed open the door and saw Lu Yuyang's tall figure leaning against the wall.

"It's still there?"

"These past few days... have you been helping out?" His words were firm.
