Chapter Eighty-Eight: Kissing

Chapter Eighty-Eight: Kissing

"No, they didn't scare me or hurt me."

Although she was very disgusted by Lu Yuyang's father's attitude, he was still Lu Yuyang's father, and besides, she wouldn't have any contact with his parents in the future.

Considering how much he had helped her along the way, she didn't want him to quarrel with his parents because of her.

"I will go back and explain to them that they will not come looking for you again, so don't worry."

"Actually... I understand their thoughts. You can focus on your exam..."

Before he could finish speaking, Lu Yuyang suddenly turned to look at her, his eyes filled with stubbornness. "Qiao Xi, are you deliberately saying things like that to annoy me?"

"I just feel..."

Before she could finish speaking, the man's burning lips descended, silencing her completely.

“Hmm…” Josie stared at him with wide eyes.

But Lu Yuyang tightened his arms and kissed her more and more deeply.

After a long while, noticing that Josie's breathing was unsteady, he slowly released her. "If you still don't know who I like, I can tell you again."

Josie shoved him hard, her eyes blazing with anger.

Lu Yuyang looked at him and laughed, "I told you, I will always wait for you, you can't get rid of me."

Josie glared at him fiercely, then turned and walked home.

Lu Yuyang's voice came from behind, "I'll be waiting for you at the city gate tomorrow morning."

He watched the slender figure walk faster and faster, entering the stairwell in his sight.

Lu Yuyang then withdrew his gaze.

He wasn't actually afraid of the pressure from his father; he didn't want to be with Su Xuewei, and no one could force him to.

His only worry was Josie, that no matter what he did, he couldn't break through her heart of stone.

Josie's heart was not as calm as she appeared; the night obscured her face, which was tinged with rosy hues.

Standing in the dark stairwell, she touched her chest.

She felt as if a tiny person inside was swinging a hammer and pounding hard on the shell outside her heart.

And fine cracks were spreading across that hard shell.

I took a deep breath, forced myself to calm down, and then walked up the stairs.

When I pushed the door open and entered, I heard people talking in the living room.

"Xixi, you're back? Are you hungry? Grandma will heat up some food for you right away."

Chen Qiurong was folding clothes when she saw her return and immediately got up.

"Mother-in-law, you go about your business. I'll just grab something to eat."

Chen Qiurong shook her head disapprovingly, "You can just eat whatever you want outside, but what about when you come home? Wenjing and I don't have to face those monsters at home, and we don't have to worry about where to stay when it's windy or rainy. All of this is what you and Xiaoye have earned. Go wash up, and your mother-in-law will make it for you right away."

Wenjing quickly helped her pour hot water and get her clothes.

"Sister Xixi, you've been gone for so many days, haven't you run into Brother Fengye?"

"No, he's been gone for so long, he should be back by now."

As Qiao Xi said this, she thought to herself that she could probably count the number of times she had seen Feng Ye in the past few months on two hands.

Each time I come back, I stay for a maximum of two days to see if they are living well before leaving again.

But Josie sensed that his superpowers had become incredibly strong, creating an invisible sense of psychological pressure on other superpowered individuals.

That was the power she desperately craved.

"Wenjing, I'm going out again tomorrow, and this time I'm going to a pretty far place. I won't be back for at least ten days. You and your mother-in-law need to take good care of yourselves."

Josie put her clothes on the clothes rack in the bathroom.

He then looked back at her and said, "If you encounter any difficult problems that you can't solve, go to Chen Peng, and he will help you solve them."

In her eyes, Chen Peng was a sucker, because he had initially provoked her with ill intentions.

As long as she or Chen Peng haven't moved out, if anything happens to Wenjing or her mother-in-law, she'll hold him responsible.

This is also why she and Feng Ye were able to leave with peace of mind.

Although Chen Peng was a superhuman, he was actually more interested in being a local gangster and spent all his time on the street, rarely leaving the safe zone except for necessary missions.

Zhao Wenjing stood at the door, somewhat puzzled. "Sister Xixi, aren't you afraid of all those zombies outside?"

Feng Ye is a mercenary; he's afraid of nothing.

But Sister Xixi is just a delicate girl; isn't she afraid of those zombies?

“How could I not be afraid?” Josie smiled and turned to look at her. “But you have to learn to overcome it.”

If you rely on a mountain, it will crumble; the only thing you can rely on is your own ability.

In dire straits, only you can save yourself.

Zhao Wenjing seemed to understand but not quite. Seeing that she was about to take off her clothes, she reached out and closed the door.

Josie took a nice, relaxing shower, and when she came out, she could already smell the aroma of fried egg noodles.

Having not eaten cooked food for several days, the smell of this dish immediately whetted her appetite.

My mouth waters without my noticing.

"Xixi, come and eat."

There are farms in the safe zone, so eggs are not a rare commodity, but they are not something that ordinary people or people with superpowers can eat often.

It's estimated that they kept all the eggs they had for themselves and Feng Ye.

Slurp... slurp...

Josie was really hungry, and she finished most of the bowl in just a few bites.

"Grandma, it's getting late. You and Wenjing should go to sleep. Don't wait for me..."

Grandma Chen is getting old, and she gets sleepy as soon as it gets dark. Right now, her eyelids are almost too heavy to keep open.

"Okay, then I'll go to sleep. You can leave the dishes in the kitchen, and I'll wash them together tomorrow morning."

Wenjing helped her grandmother into the house, while Qiaoxi, having eaten and drunk her fill, relaxed in the living room.

Having a safe place to completely relax in the apocalypse is truly a blessing.

After finishing her meal and washing the dishes, Josie felt sleepy.

Having not had a proper rest for several days, she immediately fell asleep, clutching her blanket.

*********

As the sun rises, if you only look at the clouds on the horizon, no one would imagine that the world is already riddled with holes.

When Qiao Xi and Xie Jue arrived at the gate of the safe zone, Lu Yuyang was already waiting outside.

He was tall and slender, dressed in combat gear.

Xie Jue glanced at his physique, then couldn't help but look down at himself.

Somewhat discouraged: He has been trying to eat more lately, but he still isn't growing taller.

Hearing footsteps, Lu Yuyang turned around, and when he saw them, his gaze only fell on Qiao Xi's face.

In the morning sunlight, every detail of Josie's exquisite face was clearly visible, her skin snow-white and flawless.

It's like a perfect sculpture.

He strode over and, seeing her heavy backpack, reached out to take it.

"I can do it myself..."

But Lu Yuyang was faster, taking the backpack off her and putting it on his shoulder.

"Let's go."

If you're going to memorize it, then memorize it...

Josie didn't try to snatch it, but followed his steps forward.

"XiXi, have you noticed how nice the weather has been lately?"

Not only was the weather nice, but the sunlight also had a golden-red hue.

When this golden-red color reaches a certain intensity, the entire world will be shrouded in a catastrophic downpour...
