Chapter Fifty-Two: Full of Aggression
"Then it's settled. I'll come pick you up in a couple of days."
He didn't stay long, and Josie guessed that he had squeezed in the time.
Qiao Xi escorted him to the door, intending to watch him leave, but Fu Jinxing suddenly stopped at the door.
"Xixi, the conditions here are tough. Are you really not going to come with Brother Jinxing?"
"Well, in the apocalypse, these conditions are already quite good, Brother Jinxing, don't worry about me."
After saying that, I thought Fu Jinxing should leave.
To everyone's surprise, he suddenly took two steps forward and, to Josie's astonishment, brushed aside her loose strands of hair with his fingertips.
In that instant, behind the thin lenses, a dark, aggressive light seemed to flash in his eyes.
Before Josh could examine it closely, he had already smiled and withdrawn his hand, saying, "There's something dirty on your hair."
Josie raised her hand and touched her hair.
Fu Jinxing watched her movements, a smile spreading across his lips. "Xixi, I'm leaving now. See you another day."
"Okay, see you another day."
Fu Jin, with his exceptionally noble bearing, looked quite out of place walking through the cramped and dirty corridor.
After he disappeared from sight, she thought for a moment and decided to go out for a walk.
Just as they were about to close the door, a middle-aged woman came down from upstairs.
She spotted the supplies piled up in the room and a glint of light flashed in her eyes.
When Josie noticed her peeking in, she immediately pushed the door back.
I didn't plan to maintain relationships with anyone. In the apocalypse, I only care about my own business and don't need too many social niceties.
But the other party seemed very "enthusiastic".
"Young ladies, you must have just arrived?" she said, glancing intently into the room.
Josie's lips curled up, but her smile was very distant. "Yes."
"We're all neighbors, so we should help each other out. I happen to be free today, so I'll help you tidy up your place."
After saying that, he pried open the door and made a move to squeeze inside.
Josie remained motionless, her arm across the doorframe, her smile unchanged, but her eyes turned cold: "Really, it's not necessary."
"Don't be so polite. It's such a coincidence that we all survived and ended up living in the same building, don't you think?"
She was all smiles, but her hands were surprisingly strong.
Although Josie could kill zombies, she was no match for the strength of this middle-aged woman.
She actually managed to squeeze in by using one leg to brace herself against the door.
The woman's eyes lit up when she saw the room full of supplies. "Oh my, young lady, how come you have so many supplies? That's great! How about I trade with you?"
Without waiting for Josie's reply, she reached out and picked out what she wanted.
In the blink of an eye, he was carrying two boxes of canned goods and chocolates.
She would have liked to keep carrying more if she hadn't been too full to wrap them all in her hands.
Seeing that Josie didn't stop her, she smiled so hard her eyes curved into slits.
"Look, Auntie didn't bring anything with her when she came down. I'll take these home first, and then I'll bring your things down from home for you in a bit."
"Really? What do you have at home?"
Josie simply closed the door.
“My family…my family has lots of good stuff,” she said with a fawning smile. “Come on, make way for me, let me carry my things home.”
"If you like moving, then move. Why go back home?"
Josie crossed her arms and glared at her coldly.
She had seen countless oddballs in the apocalypse, and this was nothing compared to the most bizarre one.
The woman forced a smile and said, "Auntie knows you're kind, so wait for me to go upstairs, put my things down, and then I'll bring them back for you to exchange."
Josie didn't respond, just looked at her with a half-smile.
She was too greedy, holding too many things, and after a short while, she could no longer hold them all.
She had no choice but to squeeze towards the door, pleading, "Please open the door and let your aunt out."
"Put your things down and you can leave."
"What are you going to do with? Your aunt has something good to trade with you."
She forced a smile and greedily hugged the supplies in her arms even tighter.
Chen Qiurong and Zhao Wenjing, who were inside, heard the commotion outside and felt something was wrong. When they opened the door, they saw a strange middle-aged woman struggling with Sister Xixi.
Zhao Wenjing's expression changed, and she immediately stepped forward, "Sister Xixi, are you alright?"
The middle-aged woman realized she had helpers and immediately shoved Zhao Wenjing aside.
"Ouch!"
Zhao Wenjing was slammed against the wall by the force of the impact.
She resorted to her old trick again, carrying a bunch of things and crashing into Josie.
Without moving an inch, Josie simply pulled the dagger from her lower back and placed it in front of her.
The middle-aged woman was so frightened by the gleaming blade that she quickly twisted her waist.
As a result, she twisted her waist and hurt herself, wincing in pain as she dropped the supplies she was carrying.
"Oh dear, my canned goods, my cookies."
Zhao Wenjing forgot her pain and stared in astonishment at the middle-aged woman on the ground.
Who is she? Why is she coming to my house to move things? And why did Sister Xixi pull out a dagger?
Josie slowly squatted down, deliberately holding the dagger in front of her and waving it back and forth a couple of times.
The middle-aged woman shrank back in fright. "What...what are you doing? Do you know who my son is?"
Josie asked cooperatively, "Who is it?"
"Hmph, my son is a superhuman!" She raised her chin, looking smug.
"I was originally planning to exchange supplies with you, but since you injured me, these things can only be considered compensation. Please open the door and send me back!"
Josie's eyes flickered. A superhuman... no wonder he's so arrogant.
They went straight to people's homes and robbed them.
If she were alone, she might have had to swallow this bitter pill, but she has powerful family backers!
Josie teased her on purpose, "I'll compensate you for the things and take you home..."
The middle-aged woman nodded repeatedly, "Yes, if you get along well with me, no one will dare to make things difficult for you when you live in this building."
"You're ugly, but you have beautiful dreams."
The middle-aged woman's eyes widened. "What did you say?"
Normally, no one in this building dares to mess with her; she's used to bullying others because her son is a superhuman.
Enraged, she sat up abruptly and raised her hand to strangle her.
Josie was faster, slashing across with her knife.
Fresh, wet blood immediately gushed from the wound.
The middle-aged woman didn't even realize what was happening until she touched the wetness on her hand, looked down, and then screamed "Ah!"
Qiao Xi stood up, holding the dagger, and said to Zhao Wenjing beside her, "You help your mother-in-law inside first."
Zhao Wenjing obediently responded and, without asking any further questions, immediately helped Chen Qiurong into the house.
The middle-aged woman's voice was as pitiful as a pig being slaughtered, her cries rising and falling in a rhythmic pattern.
After a long, long time, the bleeding stopped, but she was still howling with her hoarse voice.
During this time, she tried to get up and rush towards the door several times, but Josie forced her back with a dagger.
"When my son comes back, I'll make sure he kills you!"
Josie paced back and forth in the doorway, nodding in agreement, "Sure! You can go out through this door first."
As soon as Josie finished speaking, a rough male voice came from outside the door, "Mom, are you in there? I can hear your voice."
A look of surprise suddenly appeared on the woman's face. "Son, please save your mother! This little bitch in the family is trying to kill me!"
