Chapter Five: Ambiguous Flow

Chapter Five: Ambiguous Flow

Josie watched the survivors disappear into the distance, silently praying: Please, please don't let them find this place...

Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned.

Amidst the chaotic footsteps and the howls of zombies, a dozen or so young people rushed into the building in a panic.

The three leaders continuously unleashed their supernatural abilities, with blazing flames, sharp ice shards, and heavy falling rocks appearing one after another to kill the zombies that followed behind.

"Three superhumans?" Josie frowned; this was not good news for her.

"Senior, I've exhausted my powers!"

"You should leave first."

"Then be careful, senior."

The boy in the black leather jacket dodged to the side with near-perfect tactical skill, his long legs drawing sharp arcs in the air before kicking the zombie to the ground.

He then flicked his wrist, and three icicles shot out in a triangular pattern, accurately piercing the heads of three zombies.

With a bang, he quickly slammed the rusty iron gate shut, keeping the remaining zombies outside.

Josie withdrew her gaze and silently stepped inside to listen to the sounds downstairs.

"Senior, it's been months since the apocalypse, and we've only traveled this far... Is there really still a safe zone?"

Lu Yuyang was silent for a moment, his sharply defined profile resembling a cold sculpture in the dim light. "It will happen."

The tense atmosphere eased slightly, and some people began to distribute the little food left.

When he pulled out the last bag of cookies from his backpack, the boy's voice betrayed his frustration: "Senior, the food... is all gone too..."

A heavy atmosphere permeated the air.

While zombies are indeed terrifying, the lack of food and water is also a deadly threat that can choke humanity at any moment.

Lu Yuyang simply gave a soft "hmm," and his calm demeanor miraculously quieted the restless crowd.

"We were attacked by zombies last night, and none of us got a good rest. Let's get some sleep first, and then go back to the village to find supplies."

Because the room was too crowded, Lu Yuyang got up and left with half a piece of dry bread.

After walking a few steps, a girl caught up with him: "Senior..."

"Is there something you need?" Lu Yuyang's attitude was distant yet polite.

Kang Ya bit her lip. "Senior, I'm a little scared. Can I come with you?"

"If you're scared, it's safer to be with others."

After saying that, Lu Yuyang turned and walked upstairs.

Kang Ya was somewhat disappointed, as her senior came from a wealthy family and was also outstanding himself.

He is the perfect male god in the hearts of many girls.

She longed to be closer to him.

Hearing the footsteps approaching from downstairs, Josie had no choice but to curse and use her newly recovered supernatural power to turn herself back into a stone.

She lay quietly on the dusty windowsill.

Lu Yuyang stepped onto the top floor, his sharp gaze sweeping over the unfinished, bare-bones house.

Downstairs, there were at least some signs of life, but here, apart from a thick layer of dust, there was nothing at all.

He walked slowly to the window, his sneakers leaving clear footprints on the floor.

Standing by the window, Lu Yuyang observed the village through the window frame, which had no glass.

There aren't many zombies; perhaps we can find some supplies.

After observing for a while, he was about to sit down and rest when a stone on the windowsill caught his attention.

The whole room was covered in dust, but this stone was unusually clean.

Lu Yuyang frowned and examined the stone carefully in his hand.

His well-defined fingers repeatedly rubbed the stone, a habitual gesture that made him look like he was handling some precious collectible, exuding an air of ascetic focus.

"strangeness......"

This is just an ordinary pebble, how come it is so spotless?

Having witnessed many strange things in the apocalypse, he habitually wanted to get to the bottom of things.

The forearms exposed by the rolled-up sleeves had smooth, powerful lines, with veins appearing and disappearing with the rubbing motion.

He didn't notice the pebble tremble slightly, and continued to gently run his fingertip across every inch of its surface.

Josie felt her whole body burning up; the disguise she had created with her superpowers was on the verge of collapse.

Worse still, his touch made her tremble all over, as if she were being physically touched.

"Have you touched enough?"

With a sharp cry, the stone suddenly deformed in his palm.

The next second, a bright and beautiful young girl appeared in front of him. The two looked at each other and were so close that they could feel each other's breath.

"A superhuman?" Lu Yuyang raised an eyebrow in surprise.

Josie wanted to push him away, but unexpectedly discovered that her depleted superpowers were rapidly recovering.

Um?

Another "power bank"?

She couldn't help but take a closer look at the man in front of her. In this filthy apocalypse, he didn't have a single unpleasant odor, and his features were clean and refreshing.

His handsome face, with its well-defined features, carried a hint of wariness, yet it unexpectedly appealed to her.

Just as she was about to speak, footsteps and a voice suddenly came from the stairwell: "Don't... someone will see us..."

"They're all asleep..." the man's impatient voice trailed off with the rustling of clothes. "We haven't had a chance all this way..."

Soon, the commotion next door grew louder and louder.

The ambiguous sounds were particularly clear in the empty room.

Lu Yuyang unconsciously tightened his grip on Qiao Xi's waist.

She smiled and ran her fingers along his chest: "How long are you going to keep hugging me?"

"Sorry." Lu Yuyang snapped out of his daze and took two steps back to create some distance.

The panting sounds and the woman's deliberately suppressed moans coming from next door penetrated into my ears.

Both of them could imagine what kind of drama was unfolding next door.

Although Lu Yuyang's expression remained normal, the reddened tips of his ears betrayed his inner thoughts.

In this strange and ambiguous atmosphere, Josie maintained a smile throughout, showing no sign of embarrassment.

She looked Lu Yuyang up and down with an open and amused gaze.

Lu Yuyang noticed her gaze and turned to meet her eyes.

She didn't flinch, her eyes sparkling with laughter.

The two stared at each other silently until the noise from next door gradually subsided.

After hearing the two people rustling as they dressed and came downstairs, Lu Yuyang secretly breathed a sigh of relief.

He realized that the girl in front of him might have arrived here earlier and was using her superpowers to disguise herself in order to avoid conflict.

If he hadn't touched the stone out of curiosity, she probably wouldn't have shown herself at all.

Suppressing the strange feeling surging within him, he said apologetically, "I'm sorry, we were being chased by zombies and ended up here by mistake. Everyone is exhausted, and we'll leave once we've rested. We won't bother or harm you."

After speaking, Lu Yuyang nodded in acknowledgment and turned to leave. Qiao Xi was somewhat surprised; this was the first man who had remained unmoved by her beauty, much better than Zhou Ye and his group.

"etc......"

Lu Yuyang stopped, turned his head to look at her, and waited for her to continue.

Josie stepped forward, getting closer to him step by step.

She wants to become stronger and survive in this apocalypse, so she won't miss any opportunity to acquire energy.

Can I join you?

Josie blinked and gave a charming smile. "You know, it's too dangerous to go it alone in this world. You have three people with superpowers, and my abilities are well-suited for reconnaissance. What do you think?"
