Chapter Nineteen: What she needs is a man who can recharge.

Chapter Nineteen: What she needs is a man who can recharge.

His deep voice was exceptionally clear in the quiet room: "Public hospitals are now zombie nests, with at least a thousand ordinary zombies, but the outpatient building you're going to probably has several hundred zombies there too..."

He paused, looking directly at Josie: "There are more than one evolved zombie inside. Apart from special ability users like you, anyone else going in is just throwing their lives away."

Josie leaned back lazily in her chair, twirling a strand of her hair with her slender fingers. "I can help with this. But shouldn't you tell me the truth? Counting zombies is such a boring thing for you."

The room fell silent for a moment, so quiet that only their breathing could be heard.

Josie remained calm, a faint smile still playing on her lips.

A glint of light flickered deep in Feng Ye's eyes, and he finally said in a deep voice, "I'm looking for something."

"What is that?" Josie leaned forward slightly, her mind filled with curiosity.

"I can't tell you what it is, but I can tell you another important piece of information."

He paused for a moment, then said directly, "The crystal cores inside evolved zombies can enhance the strength of superhumans."

Josie was speechless; this information was no secret to her, a reborn person.

But outwardly, she still feigned surprise, "Are you serious?"

In the early stages of this apocalypse, whoever obtains this information first will gain the upper hand.

From this perspective, Fengye's future strength will definitely not be weak!

"If you don't believe me, you can try it. Consider these two crystal cores as your reward for helping me."

As he spoke, he opened his palm, revealing two crystal cores gleaming with a faint green light.

Crystal cores are indeed priceless treasures for ordinary superhumans.

Unfortunately, it was useless to Josie. No amount of crystal cores could compare to a man who could "recharge" her.

Her eyes sparkled, and she suddenly smiled: "More than the crystal core, I want a promise from you."

Feng Ye paused, about to put down the crystal core. "What promise?"

“Help me once in the future, within your means,” Josie said, staring into his eyes.

Feng Ye nodded without hesitation, "Okay."

Josie was very happy to receive his promise.

She smiled radiantly and extended her hand to him, saying, "Then I wish us a pleasant collaboration!"

Feng Ye looked down at the outstretched hand and slowly raised his hand to clasp it.

The girl's hand was soft and warm, with an incredibly delicate touch, yet it withdrew in an instant.

Josie stood up gracefully. "Then I'll be going now. I'll be waiting for you at the door at the agreed time tomorrow morning."

As Josie turned and left, he remained seated in his chair, his tall figure unmoved.

The light of the setting sun fell on his deep-set eyes, illuminating the undercurrents in his gaze.

Josie pushed open the door and walked out down the corridor, intending to find Zhao Wenjing.

She was usually doing laundry at this time, but after walking a few steps out of the corridor, she saw Xing Jiao and Lu Yuyang standing face to face.

Suddenly intrigued, Josie leaned lazily against the wall, crossed her arms, and smiled playfully.

"Are you new here?"

Xing Jiao's voice was sickeningly sweet, and she casually tugged at her clothes with her fingers, revealing a patch of snow-white shoulder.

The dim light shone precisely on her deliberately exposed skin, giving it an ambiguous sheen.

Lu Yuyang didn't even lift his eyelids, his gaze fixed straight ahead, as if there was only a wisp of air in front of him.

“I’ll tell you,”

Xing Jiao took another half step forward, her strong perfume pungent and causing Lu Yuyang to frown and step aside.

Xing Jiao seemed oblivious, smiling smugly, "I'm the only sister of the person in charge of this shelter. If you're nice to me, I can guarantee you'll live a life of luxury here."

She lightly traced her collarbone with her fingers, which were painted with bright red nail polish, and gave him a flirtatious wink.

Qiao Xi observed Xing Jiao's expression with great interest. Her eyes, heavily lined with eyeliner, gleamed with a greedy light, like a hungry wolf eyeing fresh meat.

Indeed, Lu Yuyang's clean and aloof temperament is a rare sight in this apocalyptic world.

"Please move aside."

Lu Yuyang choked and felt uncomfortable. For the first time, he lost his composure and frowned, coldly rebuking him.

Xing Jiao, however, was not giving up. Suddenly, she cried out "Ouch!" and pretended to fall into Lu Yuyang's arms.

Unexpectedly, Lu Yuyang dodged, and she missed her target, her high heels tipped, and she almost fell flat on her face.

"puff!"

Josie finally couldn't help but laugh out loud. "Miss Xing, is life in the apocalypse too boring, so you came here specifically to put on a comedy for me?"

Xing Jiao steadied herself, and upon hearing that familiar voice, her face instantly turned extremely pale.

"Josie! It's you again!" She gritted her teeth as she straightened her disheveled clothes.

Josie strolled forward slowly. "I'm curious, Miss Xing, every time you take a fancy to a man, do you resort to coercion, enticement, or deception?"

"you!"

Xing Jiao's chest heaved violently. Suddenly, she pointed at her, her bright red nails almost digging into her face. "Qiao Xi, you're acting arrogant now because Feng Ye is backing you up, aren't you? But can Feng Ye protect you forever?"

She lowered her voice menacingly, "The day you fall into my hands, I'll make you wish you were dead!"

Lu Yuyang darted forward and subtly shielded Qiao Xi behind him.

Xing Jiao looked up and met the coldness seeping into his eyes.

He has an unblemished face, but his eyes are extremely aggressive.

As he turned around, Xing Jiao clearly saw the chill surging in his eyes.

"I'm afraid I'll have to disappoint you; you won't have that chance."

Lu Yuyang's voice wasn't loud, but it seemed to make the temperature in the vicinity drop several degrees.

Taking advantage of the opportunity, Qiao Xi peeked out from behind Lu Yuyang and deliberately said in a high-pitched voice, "She's so scary! I'm terrified!"

After saying that, he even patted his chest dramatically.

Xing Jiao was so angry that she trembled all over, and several strands of her carefully styled curly hair popped out.

"What...what's your relationship?" she demanded sharply. "Why is even he protecting you?"

Josie replied with a smile, "Guess!"

"Josie, you're a vixen!"

She couldn't have Feng Ye, and finally she saw another man who pleased her, but he also had a relationship with Qiao Xi.

"A vixen? Thank you, I'll take that as a compliment on my beauty."

Unable to bear it any longer, Xing Jiao raised her hand and slapped Qiao Xi.

But her wrist was intercepted halfway, and Xing Jiao became fierce, "Are you really going to offend me for her sake?"

Lu Yuyang did not respond, but simply shook her hand away.

Xing Jiao stumbled and fell two steps backward.

Josie whispered to Lu Yuyang, "She really is the shelter boss's sister. We've gone a bit too far this time."

Just then, a shout came from not far away: "What are you doing?"
