Chapter 120: Golden Cage

Su Wan slowly opened her eyes in a piece of silk as soft as clouds. The air was filled with a faint scent of sandalwood. The familiar aroma made her nerves relax inexplicably, as if something was quietly eroding her vigilance.

Su Wan moved her fingers gently. Her body was still a little weak, as if all her strength had been drained out, but her consciousness was much clearer than before.

"woke up?"

A voice as gentle as jade came from beside me, with a hint of suppressed joy.

Su Wan turned her head suddenly, and her pupils contracted instantly.

Yan Shaoyou was sitting upright on the carved sofa beside the bed, holding a beautifully bound ancient book in his hand. He was wearing beige home clothes of exquisite texture, and his whole body exuded a gentle homely atmosphere.

The iconic pair of gold-rimmed glasses reflected a soft glow in the morning light, but could not hide the flash of heat in the peach blossom eyes behind the lenses.

Su Wan sat up suddenly as if struck by lightning and looked around warily.

This is a luxurious bedroom, with thick Persian carpets covering the entire room. Outside the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, you can vaguely see the figures of patrolling soldiers.

Everything has a sense of exquisite cage.

"Where is this?"

Yan Shaoyou gently closed the book in his hand, slowly stood up and walked to the bed. He picked up the exquisite bone china cup on the bedside table, with delicate rose patterns carved on the wall.

"Dawn Base, your home." Yan Shaoyou's voice was still so gentle, "Drink some water to moisten your throat. You have slept for a whole day and night."

Su Wan stared at the water cup, not intending to take it. She lifted the silk quilt and tried to get out of bed, but Yan Shaoyou stretched out his hand and gently pressed her shoulder.

"Don't worry, Wanwan." Yan Shaoyou's voice was as gentle as a feather brushing against his heart, and his eyes revealed an almost pious concern. "The doctor just checked and said that you need to rest, especially now... you are pregnant with our child."

Su Wan shuddered, keenly sensing something wrong in his words. What did he mean by "our child"?

"Yan Shaoyou, what do you want to do?" Su Wan pushed Yan Shaoyou's hand away without any hesitation.

Yan Shaoyou's eyes trembled slightly, and then he pushed up the gold-rimmed glasses on his nose. A trace of hurt flashed across his peach blossom eyes, but was quickly covered up by gentleness.

"Wanwan, I'm taking you home." Yan Shaoyou's tone was still gentle, but it also revealed a sense of rightness.

"Father has always been worried about your safety. This place has the best medical facilities in the country and the safest protective environment. It is the best choice for you and your child."

Su Wan's eyes burst into even stronger anger, "When did I say I wouldn't come back? Why did you take the initiative to kidnap me back? Where's Lu Shiyan? Where's Xiao Han and the others? What did you do to them?"

When he heard Lu Shiyan's name, Yan Shaoyou's facial muscles visibly stiffened for a moment, but soon, he returned to his gentle expression, but a hint of gloom flashed in the depths of his eyes.

"They?" Yan Shaoyou chuckled, with a barely perceptible chill in his voice, "Wanwan, you shouldn't mention that man's name again. He will only bring you endless danger and pain. What's more, father will never allow you to have anything to do with Lu Shiyan again."

"Father? Yes, father, I want to see him! I want to see him now!"

The smile on Yan Shaoyou's face became more gentle, but it made Su Wan feel a chill to the bone.

"Of course. Father was so happy to know that you returned safely that he almost didn't sleep all night, but you were in a coma the whole time."

Yan Shaoyou stretched out his hand to touch Su Wan's hair, but she dodged it swiftly. "He specifically instructed that when you wake up and are in a better mental state, send someone to call him. Breakfast is ready, and it's all your favorite flavors. Eat something to fill your stomach first, and I'll accompany you to see your father."

Su Wan stared at the man in front of her. His gentle face always had a decent and perfect smile, but the paranoia and madness hidden behind that smile made her shudder.

Although Yan Shaoyou in the original book deeply loves Su Wan, he definitely does not have this kind of almost pathological possessiveness...

Could it be that my appearance changed the direction of the plot?

"Okay." Su Wan took a deep breath, suppressed the panic in his heart, and tried to make his voice sound calmer, "I'm hungry."

In the astonishingly luxurious restaurant, the three-meter-long solid wooden dining table is filled with exquisite and tempting food.

There are steaming dumplings fresh out of the oven, golden fried French toast, and fresh seasonal fruit platters... everything is as exquisite as a work of art.

This doesn't seem like the food that should be eaten in the end times.

But Su Wan had no appetite and her attention was not on the food at all.

Yan Shaoyou sat opposite her, picking up food for Su Wan from time to time, his movements gentle and considerate.

"Shaoyou, Wanwan."

A majestic voice with obvious joy came from outside the restaurant, and the footsteps were steady and powerful.

Su Wan raised her head and saw a dignified middle-aged man in a neat military uniform striding in.

Su Zhengyan.

This man was tall and straight, with sharp eyebrows and bright eyes. His face was 70% similar to "Su Wan", especially his eyes, which were exactly the same.

There was a fierce aura of someone who had been in a high position for a long time between his brows, and his whole body exuded a powerful aura that was intimidating without even being angry.

But at this moment, this majestic man was trembling slightly because of excitement, and even his eyes were a little red.

"dad!"

The moment this word came out of his mouth, Su Wan's heart sank.

There was a complex emotion in her voice that she herself was not aware of - strangeness, familiarity, and an inexplicable attachment.

The original body's memory told her that this man doted on "Su Wan" to the point of granting her every request, and it could even be said that he doted on her to the core.

"Hey, my dear daughter! You are finally back!"

Su Zhengyan almost trotted to Su Wan, and held Su Wan's hand with his rough hands tremblingly, looking her up and down. When he saw Su Wan's obviously thin face, a trace of heartache flashed in his eyes.

"You've lost weight, really lost weight... You must have suffered a lot!" Su Zhengyan's voice was a little choked, "Silly girl, the only time in your life that your father didn't do what you wanted was when you almost lost me forever..."

Su Wan's nose felt sore and tears instantly welled up in her eyes.

This emotion came too suddenly and was too strong, even Su Wan herself was shocked.

She knew clearly that this man was not her real father, and she knew clearly that she was just a soul from a foreign land who had traveled through time, but why... why did she have such a heart-wrenching attachment?

"Dad, I'm fine." Su Wan took the initiative to throw herself into Su Zhengyan's arms, feeling the long-lost warmth of fatherly love.

"You still say you're fine!" Su Zhengyan stroked Su Wan's hair, his tone showing obvious heartache. "Shaoyou has reported everything to me in detail. How much suffering have you endured along the way!"

He turned to Yan Shaoyou, his eyes full of praise and gratitude: "Shaoyou, this time it's really thanks to you that you brought Wanwan back safely. You have made a great contribution, and father will never forget it!"

Yan Shaoyou smiled modestly and pushed up his glasses: "Father, you are too kind. Taking care of Wanwan is my responsibility and obligation."

"Okay! Okay!" Su Zhengyan nodded with satisfaction and pulled Su Wan to sit down at the dining table. "Come on, eat more. I feel bad for your thin face. From now on, Dad will ask the kitchen to cook your favorite food for you every day. You must take good care of your body."

Su Wan looked at Su Zhengyan's loving face and spoke carefully: "Dad, I have something to tell you. About..."

"I know what you want to say." Su Zhengyan interrupted her. The smile on his face faded a little, and a complicated look flashed in his eyes. "It's about the man named Lu Shiyan, right?"

Su Wan's heart skipped a beat.
