Su Wan ate well, slept well, and was very energetic.
Rather than worrying about this, she was more worried about whether to braise some chicken feet or fry some fish tonight.
Forget it, if you can't figure it out, don't think about it. As long as she and the little one are healthy, it doesn't matter if she loses some weight. In the end times, being able to move easily is also an advantage.
She clapped her hands, picked up the potatoes next to her, and began to peel them. When the bosses come back tonight, she has to make them some beef stew with potatoes to keep them full.
The peace was broken that night.
“Bang!”
Not just one sound, but a series of collisions and a dull roar.
Su Wan's heartbeat suddenly quickened. Zombies are coming! She stood up from her chair suddenly. Zhang Ma, who was standing next to her, had already rushed to the door, her face pale.
There were chaotic footsteps outside the corridor, as well as Agui and Afu's terrified shouts.
"Miss! Hurry! Hide under the bed!" Aunt Zhang's voice trembled as she pushed her towards the only bed in the room.
A strong fishy smell poured in through the door that was violently kicked open, almost making people nauseous.
There are shadows at the door. More than one!
Su Wan's pupils contracted violently. With the dim light from the emergency lights in the corridor, she could clearly see the outline of the intruder.
The twisted limbs and disproportionate head were exactly the same as the monster seen during the day, only even more hideous.
One, two, three, four... at least four! They blocked the door, making low growling noises, saliva dripping from the corners of their cracked mouths, corroding the ground with a hissing sound.
Zhang Ma tightly protected Su Wan behind her, holding a fruit knife that she had taken out from somewhere tightly in her hand. The tip of the knife was facing outwards, but the tiny blade looked ridiculously small in front of the huge monster.
"Roar!" One of the mutants pounced over at an astonishing speed.
At this moment, a black shadow rushed over, accompanied by the sharp sound of metal breaking through the air.
Lu Shiyan!
He held a military dagger in his hand, and the blade accurately blocked the mutant's claws. The huge impact made him step back half a step, and the muscles in his arm bulged. The blade rubbed against the bones, making a teeth-grinding squeak.
"Xiao Han! On the right!" Lu Shiyan shouted.
Xiao Han's figure appeared on the other side. His face was pale and his left arm was obviously powerless, but the weapon held in his right hand still fiercely chopped at another mutant that tried to approach.
The foul-smelling wind was mixed with the teeth-grinding sound of bones cracking and the muffled sound of flesh being torn apart.
Ah Gui waved a mop handle that he had picked up from somewhere, roared, and smashed the mop head hard at the monster's head. But the thing just shook its ugly head and swung its slimy claws violently!
Phew!
The warm liquid splashed onto the wall next to Su Wan, leaving shocking marks.
Ah Gui was thrown out like a broken sack and hit the wall. He coughed up blood and screamed at Su Wan with all his might: "Miss, hurry...run..."
Before he could finish his words, a mutant pounced on him and tore him in half in an instant.
"Agui!" Ah Fu let out a shrill cry and tried to rush forward.
The next second, he was lifted up, his feet kicking in the air in vain, the iron rod in his hand fell to the ground with a clang, and then he was thrown to the ground hard. The sound of bones breaking could be heard clearly, and then he was pounced on by another mutant and eaten.
Almost at the same time, a short muffled groan was heard from deep in the corridor. It was Monkey, one of Xiao Han's only three remaining men. He tried to provide support from the flank, but two gunshots were fired, and then he was instantly knocked down by a lurking mutant.
The clanging of metal weapons falling to the ground was completely drowned out by the horrific sounds of chewing and tearing.
Blood and flesh were smeared all over the ground and walls. In an instant, the four people over there were reduced to a pool of blurred flesh and blood.
A mutant stepped over the broken body, making a sickening crunching sound.
A'Mo stood behind Xiao Han, forming a fragile line of defense with his body and weapons, but he seemed overwhelmed by the approach of the other two monsters.
The sounds of fighting, roaring, metal colliding, and walls breaking mixed together and were deafening.
The corridors of the research institute became a hell.
Su Wan was pinned to the corner by Zhang Ma, her heart almost jumping out of her chest. She could clearly see that every time Lu Shiyan dodged, it was extremely dangerous. His movements were swift and fierce, and every knife hit the vital points of the mutants, but there were too many monsters.
Lu Shiyan's attack seemed to be aimed only at the enemy in front of him, but Su Wan noticed that every time he moved and blocked, he intentionally or unintentionally controlled the battlefield within a certain range, separating her and the seriously injured Xiao Han on a relatively safe side.
He is protecting them silently!
This realization made Su Wan feel like she was falling into an icy cave. She hated her own powerlessness, and could only hide here and become a hindrance to him.
The situation on Xiao Han's side was even worse. He was already injured, and every swing seemed to use up all his strength. His breathing was rapid, his forehead was covered with cold sweat, and his movements were noticeably slower.
“Puff!”
Xiao Han was unable to dodge and was hit on the back by a mutant's claw, leaving a wound deep enough to see the bone. He groaned and nearly fell down.
A'mo roared and rushed forward to block the pursuit, but was slapped away by another mutant. He hit the wall heavily and slid to the ground, his life or death unknown.
Only Lu Shiyan and the seriously injured Xiao Han were left. Although the four mutants were also injured, they were still fierce and pressed forward step by step.
Lu Shiyan's breathing also became heavier, sweat oozed from his forehead, and his cold eyes finally showed a hint of anxiety. He was restrained.
Su Wan watched him being entangled by two mutants, and had to keep an eye on Xiao Han and her movements. His movements were no longer as smooth as at the beginning.
It's over. It's completely over.
Lu Shiyan...he can't die...why is this happening?
She clenched her fists, her nails digging deep into her palms. She didn't want to die here, and she didn't want to die here with her child.
On the contrary, the mutant closest to her smelled the scent of fresh flesh and blood, suddenly turned around and rushed towards her! The fishy wind blew in her face, and the distorted shadow of that thing instantly enlarged!
"Miss!" Aunt Zhang's hoarse voice exploded.
Then, a huge force hit her back. Su Wan was pushed uncontrollably against the wall.
There was a dull thud as his forehead hit the hard, cold wall.
Her vision went dark in an instant, and she saw stars everywhere. She even tasted a little blood from the inside of her mouth being scratched by her teeth.
Almost at the same time, she heard a muffled cry of pain and the horrible sound of sharp claws tearing flesh.
Su Wan turned around suddenly and saw that Aunt Zhang had been pierced in the shoulder by the mutant's claw. Blood was gushing out, but she was still holding on to one of the mutant's legs tightly, buying her a moment of respite.
"Auntie Zhang!" Su Wan's eyes were bloodshot.
