Chapter 43 Who dares to grab the mission?

Xiao Han described the grand occasion of the mission hall vividly. It was simply like the apocalyptic version of people scrambling for cabbages in the vegetable market, and it was a limited-time special offer.

Lu Shiyan tapped his fingertips on the table and thought for a few seconds.

"It seems that if you want to survive here, you have to accept missions."

"Let's go check it out tomorrow." He made the decision.

Su Wan raised her hand suddenly.

"I'm going too!"

The calculations in her head were clacking. The book said that there was a mission in the Central Base with an absurdly high mortality rate, known as the "special dissuasion package for the protagonist".

Although Lu Shiyan has the halo of being the chosen one, what if?

She didn't want to find a thick thigh and then have to go to the grave of the thigh.

We must follow closely and never let Lu Shiyan slip and tear off those colorful death warrants, especially the red and black ones.

The next day, mission hall.

The crowd density was comparable to that of rush hour, and the air was a mixture of sweat, dust, and the strange, sweet smell of cheap energy bars.

People crowded and pushed each other, and the sounds of shouting, cursing, and bargaining merged into a boiling pot.

Su Wan followed Lu Shiyan closely like a little tail, standing on tiptoe with her neck stretched out.

Her eyes swept back and forth across the huge metal plate covered with paper strips, focusing on the brightly colored areas, bold red and outlined in black, for fear that Lu Shiyan would take another look.

Lu Shiyan was calm, his eyes moving steadily between the notes, as if he was calculating the cost-effectiveness.

Xiao Han stood aside with his arms folded, watching the show with great interest.

He looked at Su Wan, who was nervous and ready to cover Lu Shiyan's eyes at any time, and grinned.

"How about the yellow one?" Lu Shiyan suddenly raised his hand and pointed at a yellow note in a good position.

"Clean up the mutant spiders in the abandoned factory in the South District and recycle the factory materials. I recommend a three-person team. The reward is okay."

Su Wan quickly glanced around.

The white task lists have been basically cleared out, and there are only a few gray ones left.

The yellow one is indeed the safest option at the moment, and it can also make some money.

It's better than those things that are purple red or shiny black.

Moreover, she remembered that there seemed to be a batch of arms hidden in the abandoned factory in the South District.

She nodded immediately.

"This is great! Safety is the most important thing. Only by staying alive can you win!"

Lu Shiyan said no more. Taking advantage of his height, he stretched out his arm, pushed away the person in front of him who was trying in vain to reach the paper, and tore off the yellow note accurately.

The note just arrived and isn’t even warm yet.

"Wait a moment!"

A sharp female voice pierced through the noisy crowd.

Before he could finish his words, a team of three people squeezed in front of them.

Two men and one woman.

The one who spoke was the woman, her hair dyed in all sorts of colors and her face heavily made-up, like someone who had just come off the stage.

She glared at Lu Shiyan with her eyebrows raised.

"This mission is ours!" She suddenly raised her voice and did not allow for discussion.

Many eyes around were immediately attracted.

"We have already told the publisher!" she repeated loudly.

Lu Shiyan turned around and looked at the three people calmly.

The yellow slip of paper in his hand was gently folded in half and held between his fingers.

He didn't say anything.

Xiao Han stepped forward first, blocked Su Wan behind him, and sneered.

"Hey, big sister, this thing is posted on the wall with a clear price tag. Whoever gets it first gets it."

"When did the reservation system become popular? Is this the Internet celebrity milk tea shop before the end of the world where people have to queue up to get a number?"

The sarcasm in his words was so thick that it could not be dispelled.

The man next to the colorful-haired woman immediately responded.

His facial muscles twitched and he forced a smile.

"Brother, I'm so sorry. Our team did discuss this mission with the publisher, and they reserved it for us."

He deliberately slowed down his speech, but his eyes were fixed on Lu Shiyan's hand holding the note.

"Look, how about you pick something else?"

This sounds polite, but everyone can hear the "you must agree" spirit in it.

More and more people gathered around to watch the fun, and their whispers were like the buzzing of flies.

Su Wan half leaned out from behind Xiao Han.

"No."

"According to the rules of the mission hall, whoever tears it first owns it."

Her eyes swept across the three people opposite her one by one, finally stopping on the woman's provocative face.

“That’s our mission.”

"What are you going to do?"

This was something she had chosen with great care and she couldn't let it go.

The woman with colored hair was stunned at first, as if she had heard a huge joke.

Then, the thick makeup on her face almost cracked from anger.

"What did you say?"

"Little girl, is it your turn to interrupt here?"

The man next to her who had been trying to act like a good guy suddenly lost his expression.

He took a step forward, his gloomy eyes falling on Su Wan's face, his threat undisguised.

"Little sister, if you don't understand the rules here, don't get involved."

"Hand over the task list, and this matter will be over."

The other man, who remained silent but was stronger in build, silently clenched his fists.

The joints rubbed against each other, making a slight "click" sound.

The sound was not loud in the noisy hall, but it was loud enough for people nearby to hear.

The crowd watching the excitement around became more excited and their discussions became louder.

"This little girl is really good. She's really tough."

"Those three are from the 'Hyena Squad', right? They are notoriously unruly, greedy, and cruel."

The mocking arc on Xiao Han's face became even bigger.

He moved forward, almost protecting Su Wan behind him.

"What? You can't convince me with reason, so you're going to use your fists instead?"

Lu Shiyan raised his head, shifted his gaze away from Su Wan, and looked indifferently at the approaching man.

Lu Shiyan's gaze suddenly turned cold, and the air around him seemed to stagnate.

He gently grasped the yellow task sheet, and the words he uttered were not loud, but they carried an unshakable weight.

"Rules are rules. The mission is at hand, no need to say more."

"Good boy, you are so arrogant!" The burly man took a step forward, his fists clenched until the knuckles turned blue, "Do you know who we are?"

The crowd of onlookers moved back tacitly, leaving a circular space between them, apparently not surprised by this.

"No need to know." Lu Shiyan's expression was as calm as deep water, but beneath the surface there was a turbulent current. "The task list is in my hand. If you have the ability, come and get it yourself."

The woman with colored hair snorted coldly, took out a small dagger from her waist, and tossed it in her hand.

"You're a new guy, right? You don't know how high the sky is or how deep the earth is! We, the Hyena Squad, have never failed to get what we set our sights on!"

Ah Mo moved silently to Lu Shiyan's side, his tall body like a solid wall.

Xiao Han was still protecting Su Wan, with the corner of his mouth curled up with obvious contempt.

"Oh, three against three? That's great, it's just fair." Xiao Han even shook his wrist in an exaggerated manner.

Just when the atmosphere was tense enough to spark, a deep voice suddenly interrupted, breaking the momentary silence.

"Stop it!"
