Chapter 46: The Mantis Catches the Cicada, Waiting for the Yellow Bird Behind

The car stopped in a secluded place some distance away from the factory.

A group of people got off the car.

Lu Shiyan spread out a simple map: "There are several entrances and exits to the abandoned factory. The main entrance is too conspicuous. Ah Mo, you go to the side door. Xiao Han will go through the back door. Su Wan and I will take the path to the east. Let's scout the outside first and then meet up."

"Understood." A'mo nodded and patted his pocket. "I've brought the flares."

The abandoned factory was very close to the base. It was a mottled old building complex with overgrown weeds and mottled walls. Most of the surrounding walls had collapsed, and broken bricks and tiles were piled up like a mountain.

Su Wan followed Lu Shiyan and walked along a small path on the east side. She looked around, trying to find the sign mentioned in the book.

"Why did you have to come?" Lu Shiyan stared at her, "Did you really just hear your father talk about this place?"

"I... I accidentally heard one of my father's men mention something about the abandoned factory in the southern district... It seemed that there was something shady hidden there, and it was somewhat related to munitions. I didn't pay much attention to it at the time, but later when I saw the mission location and remembered what he said, I thought... It was too coincidental. I'm afraid that if I tell you, you will think I'm just imagining things, but I feel that I must come and take a look."

Lu Shiyan was silent for a few seconds.

"Follow me closely, don't wander around."

The factory was much larger than expected, with abandoned machinery and rusty iron frames everywhere. The air was filled with the smell of decay and dust, mixed with some indescribable stench.

"Be careful." Lu Shiyan stretched out his hand to stop Su Wan and pointed to the ground ahead.

A huge spider web almost occupied the entire passage, with several shriveled corpses of small animals stuck on the web.

"The mutant spider's nest sign." Lu Shiyan whispered, "We have to take a detour."

Just as they were about to turn to another passage, a muffled sound was heard in the distance, like something heavy hitting the ground.

Lu Shiyan immediately pulled Su Wan to hide behind a pile of abandoned machines and made a gesture to keep quiet.

Footsteps. There was more than one person. "Be gentle, idiot!" A familiar female voice came, the low voice full of malice, "Don't alarm 'those things', let others explore the way."

It was the colorful-haired woman from the "Hyena Squad"! Su Wan's heart tightened, and she involuntarily leaned towards Lu Shiyan.

"Don't worry, Lily." Another male voice echoed, "Wait until they have consumed most of their energy, then we can start to clean up the mess. Lord Scorpion likes things to be done neatly."

"Heh, the stuff this time is pretty good." Lily laughed sinisterly, "Especially that young man who is so reckless that he thinks he can show off here just because he has some skills? Send him to feed the spiders!"

The footsteps gradually faded away.

Only after he was sure that they were far away did Lu Shiyan let go of the hand that was protecting Su Wan.

"They are coming for us." Su Wan lowered his voice, his heart beating like a drum.

Lu Shiyan snorted coldly: "That's just right, so I don't have to go look for them again." His eyes were as cold as ice, and the murderous intent hidden in them made Su Wan shiver.

"land--"

"Shh!"

Lu Shiyan suddenly pulled Su Wan over and protected her tightly behind him.

Less than three meters in front of the two men, a huge spider slowly hung down from the ceiling, its eight red compound eyes flashing strangely.

Mutated spider!

The deformed body was as big as a car, with spikes all over its shiny black shell, and the barbs on its eight long legs glowing coldly in the sun. Its jaws slowly opened, revealing its sharp fangs, and the saliva dripping down made a hissing sound on the ground, corroding small pits.

Su Wan almost screamed, but Lu Shiyan covered her mouth in time. He slowly pulled out the dagger from his waist with his other hand and stared at the monster.

The spider seemed to have sensed something and slowly turned its huge head towards them.

At this critical moment, a loud noise suddenly came from the distance, followed by a series of gunshots.

The spider stopped moving, turned its head sharply in the direction of the sound, and then crawled away quickly.

"Xiao Han and the others!" Su Wan blurted out.

Lu Shiyan: "It's a fraud."

He quickly took out a dagger and handed it to Su Wan: "Take it and protect yourself. I'll go to support them, you stay here and don't move, understand?"

Just as Lu Shiyan was about to leave, Su Wan grabbed the corner of his clothes, her knuckles turning white: "Don't... don't leave me alone! Those people... the people from the 'Hyena Squad' must be nearby. What if they find me, or if that spider comes back... I only have a knife, I..."

Lu Shiyan was silent for a moment, then gritted his teeth and said, "Follow me closely, don't leave me alone. If there is any danger, hide immediately, don't try to be brave, remember?"

“Remember!”

The two of them moved quickly in the direction where the sound came from.

After passing through several corridors and turning a corner, they saw chaos in an empty workshop in front of them.

Xiao Han was fighting the giant spider, his wind ability formed air blades, slashing at the spider's legs. Ah Mo was besieged by two smaller spiders, and although he was extremely powerful, he seemed a little flustered.

What's worse is that not far behind them, three members of the "Hyena Squad" were holding guns and aiming at the defenseless Xiao Han and A'mo. The woman named Lily had a grim smile on her face, her finger on the trigger.

Lu Shiyan's body temperature dropped suddenly.

"Oh, bastard." His voice was cold.

Su Wan saw a ball of lightning appear in the palm of his hand.

The next second, he disappeared from the spot.

Su Wan only saw three black shadows flash by.

A shrill scream echoed throughout the workshop.

Lily's head tilted strangely to one side, her eyes wide open, full of shock. The gun in her hand fell to the ground with a crisp sound.

The man next to her who had tried to smooth things over suddenly turned around, raised his gun and started shooting.

However, there was no one where his gun was pointed.

A bloody streak appeared on the back of his neck. A second later, blood gushed out like a fountain.

The third burly man, Jimmy, reacted the fastest. He raised his gun and fired wildly in all directions, shouting angrily, "Come out! You coward! Come out!"

Lu Shiyan appeared again, right behind him.

Jimmy sensed something and turned back suddenly, with the muzzle of the gun almost touching Lu Shiyan's chest.

Before he could pull the trigger, a cold light flashed in Lu Shiyan's eyes, and his palm covered with dazzling lightning had already grabbed Jimmy's gun-holding wrist like a steel claw.

A violent electric current instantly ran through Jimmy's body, causing him to let out a short wail, his body twitching violently, and the gun fell to the ground with a clang.

Before Jimmy could react, Lu Shiyan's other hand turned into an afterimage wrapped in lightning and cut his throat heavily.

Jimmy's eyes widened, blood gushed out from between his fingers, and his body fell limply.

“You…you…” Jimmy’s eyes widened and blood gushed out of his mouth.

He pulled his hand away, and Jimmy fell to the ground with a thud.

The whole process takes less than ten seconds.

Su Wan stood there in a daze, her heart beating like a drum. Lu Shiyan's killing was clean and neat. She had almost forgotten that he had such a terrifying side.

Three bodies lay on the ground, blood pooling in a puddle. Lu Shiyan had a blank expression on his face, and he took out a handkerchief to wipe the blood off his fingertips.
