Chapter 7 Unsent Text Message

"If you don't believe it..." Su Wan bit her lower lip, as if she was making a difficult decision, "Wait... wait for a while, and you'll know."

Lu Shiyan was silent.

He just stared at her, his deep eyes filled with complex and indistinguishable emotions.

There was suspicion, hatred, rage, and seemingly... confusion that even he himself was not aware of.

The memory of that night also tormented him like a maggot in his bones.

He hated this woman to the core and wished he could break free from the damn chains immediately and strangle her slender neck with his own hands.

But she said she was pregnant...

if……

What if what she said was true?

Lu Shiyan suddenly suppressed this thought.

impossible!

This woman, the woman who imprisoned him here, tortured him, and made him suffer humiliation!

How could there be his...bad child in her belly?

But that damn night... chaos, loss of control, no precautions at all...

No!

This must be her new trick!

To bind him with a child of nothingness? To defile him?

Lu Shiyan's chest heaved violently, and the iron chains made a rattling sound with his movements, which was particularly harsh in the dead silence.

Lu Shiyan suddenly felt an indescribable irritation.

This emotion came out of nowhere, but it was like a fire that burned his heart and made him feel stuffy.

"Get out."

His voice was even hoarser than before, like worn sandpaper, with a suppressed brutality and a barely perceptible hint of... fatigue?

Su Wan's tense body relaxed ever so slightly for a moment.

He still didn't believe it.

But at least he didn't go crazy right away.

This crazy lie temporarily separated her from death.

She can't leave.

He left. Tonight, his superpowers were awakened, and the first person he wanted to kill was her.

Su Wan calmed himself down and tried to make his voice sound steady, even though his heart was still beating wildly.

"I can't let you go just yet."

She met his cold gaze without flinching.

"You hate me too much now."

The murderous intent in Lu Shiyan's eyes almost solidified into substance.

Su Wan seemed not to notice and continued talking to herself.

"Calm down for a moment."

"I'll ask someone to bring food over later."

"I can't let you go hungry...right?"

Lu Shiyan almost doubted his ears.

This woman is really crazy.

Or was she certain that he couldn't do anything to her now?

He stopped talking, just closed his eyes, the veins on his forehead throbbing slightly.

Su Wan didn't dare to stay any longer.

If she continued, she was afraid that she would collapse first.

Su Wan leaned against the cold wall, his chest heaving violently like a dying fish.

Pregnant.

Did he believe it?

No, he didn't.

The ridicule and contempt in his eyes pierced her heart like needles.

But he didn't go crazy again for the time being.

That's enough.

At least, she bought a little time.

Su Wan held onto the wall and forced herself to stand straight.

Her legs were still weak, but her instinct for survival forced her to move.

She couldn't stay here forever.

After turning a corner, I ran into Aunt Zhang who was carrying an empty tray.

Aunt Zhang obviously didn't expect to meet her here and paused.

Her eyes quickly swept across Su Wan's pale face and the white skirt that was obviously stained with blood and looked a little disheveled.

"Miss?" Aunt Zhang lowered her head and spoke respectfully, but that brief glance did not escape Su Wan's eyes.

"Yeah." Su Wan raised her chin, trying to imitate the original owner's arrogant attitude, but her voice was slightly weak and hoarse because of the shock just now. "Go prepare a light meal, suitable for people who haven't eaten for a long time."

Aunt Zhang was stunned for a moment and seemed not to react.

"……to whom?"

"Basement." Su Wan spat out three words coldly without further explanation.

She walked past Zhang Ma without even glancing at her and headed straight for the stairs.

basement?

Send food to that man? The young lady was... so strange today. She suddenly cared about the man who was tortured by her to the point of being unrecognizable.

And the way she looked just now...like she was frightened?

Aunt Zhang didn't ask any more questions, she just lowered her head and said, "Yes, Miss."

Su Wan returned to the bedroom on the second floor and locked the door almost immediately.

A soft "bang" sound isolated the outside world.

Su Wan walked to the cloakroom.

The original owner's luxurious dressing room was filled with all kinds of beautiful clothes and high heels that were not suitable for escaping in the apocalypse.

She searched patiently and finally found a few relatively simple and comfortable sportswear and a few pairs of flat sneakers in a corner.

She changed out of her obstructive white dress and put on a dark sportswear and sneakers, which made it easier to move around and less noticeable.

Then she began to purposefully search the room for anything that might be useful.

The first aid kit on the dresser, the few bottles of water and chocolates left in the small refrigerator, the lighter in the drawer, the Swiss Army knife...

Everything was collected into the space by her mind.

She walked to the door, put her ear against it, and listened carefully to the noise outside.

The corridor was very quiet.

Aunt Zhang should have gone to prepare the food.

Su Wan hesitated. Should she go to the basement again? Maybe sending food there could further reduce Lu Shiyan's vigilance?

She had to make the lie seem more "real".

At least, before Lu Shiyan awakens his supernatural powers and is able to verify the truth, he should be skeptical.

Su Wan's eyes fell on the bedside table, where the original owner's mobile phone was placed. The apocalypse had broken out, and the signal had been cut off, so communication was impossible. But perhaps there was still some... useful information left in the phone?

She tried to turn it on.

Unexpectedly, the phone still had power.

The screen lit up, reflecting the original owner's beautiful yet arrogant face as the screensaver.

Su Wan unlocked the phone and began to look through the contents.

The album is full of the original owner’s selfies and photos of various luxury goods.

Most of the call records and text messages are about contacts with bad friends.

Su Wan browsed quickly, hoping to find some information about Lu Shiyan.

Suddenly, her fingers stopped.

In the SMS draft box, there is an unsent message.

The recipient is... Lu Shiyan.

The message was very short, just one sentence, but it made Su Wan's pupils shrink suddenly.

"I think... I have it."

It was followed by an indecisive emoji.

This text message was edited just half a month after the apocalypse broke out!

So, the original owner really suspected that she was pregnant at that time?

The outrageous lie she made up in desperation to save her life actually... worked?

No, not sure.

This might just be another attempt by the original owner to attract Lu Shiyan's attention, or in other words, a means to further control him.

After all, given the original owner's twisted possessiveness, it's not surprising that he would do such a thing.

But what if?

What if the original owner had doubted at that time...

Su Wan clenched her phone tightly.
