Chapter 30 Uninvited Guests

Soon, four modified off-road vehicles and trucks appeared at the edge of the field of vision and stopped not far away.

The car door opened and many people got out one after another.

A quick look revealed that there were more than twenty of them, including grey-haired elderly people and children who were held hands by adults and looking at this side timidly.

A team. A large, seemingly bloated team of survivors.

Xiao Han put down the instant noodle bucket in his hand and put his hands on his waist.

Lu Shiyan also stopped what he was doing, slightly adjusted his sitting position, and faced the direction of the person coming.

A middle-aged man walked out of the opposing team. He was tall and strong, wearing oily work clothes, with a frosted face. He had no weapon in his hands, but his steps were steady.

The man stopped a few meters away and said in a loud voice: "Hey, buddy, are you taking a break?"

His eyes moved between Lu Shiyan and Xiao Han, and finally landed on their car, which was obviously of superior performance, as well as the scattered food packaging and the conspicuous pile of egg shells nearby.

"I see there aren't many of you," the man rubbed his hands, "We're also going to the central base, and the road is not safe, do you want to find a companion and go together?"

Su Wan paused while holding the fifth half-peeled egg.

The man continued: "There is strength in numbers, and we can take care of each other."

Xiao Han sneered, and his voice was particularly harsh in the woods.

He leaned lazily against the car body, his hands still on his waist, without even changing his posture.

"You want to team up with someone without even telling them who you are?"

"In this world, if you don't have some basic common sense, you won't survive long."

The middle-aged man's smile froze for a moment, and he rubbed his hands with larger movements, seeming a little embarrassed.

Su Wan was still holding the half-peeled egg, and the yolk crumbs on her fingertips seemed to have solidified.

"Ahem," the man cleared his throat. His voice was no longer as loud as before, but rather a bit flattering. "Look at my memory. My name is Wang Jianguo, and they all call me Lao Wang. We are a group of people who escaped from the west of the city. There are more than 20 of us, old and young."

He pointed to the crowd behind him who were either silent or looking at this side curiously.

"We were going to the central base. We met you on the way and saw that you were small and well-equipped, so we thought we could go together so we could look after each other."

He paused, his eyes sweeping over the leftovers and the pile of eggshells on the ground. "There's a water-based mutant in our team who can make clean water. I see... your consumption of drinking water should be quite high, right?"

He counted the egg shells in his mind, there were at least five or six.

Looking at these people again, they were dressed neatly, clean, and looked better than most of the people in his team.

In the end times, food and cleanliness are luxuries.

These people obviously have both.

Seeing that there are only a few people, I am afraid that their strength is not simple.

Xiao Han naturally noticed that Wang Jianguo's eyes were wandering between the food and the eggshells.

He put down the lunch box in his hand and wiped his mouth, but his smile did not reach his eyes. "Old Wang, right?"

"We are used to being alone."

Xiao Han pointed at their off-road vehicle, and glanced at the huge and obviously slow-moving team behind Wang Jianguo.

"You have more than 20 people, and you are too big a target and make too much noise."

"If something happens, we won't be able to run away." He said it in a relaxed tone, but his words were blunt. "We won't join in the fun."

The smile on Wang Jianguo's face disappeared completely, his eyes flickered, and he obviously didn't expect to be rejected so straightforwardly.

He forced a smile and rubbed his hands: "Brother, that's not what I meant. With more water-type ability users, it would be convenient to use water on the road, right?"

"We can use water in exchange for some of your food. What do you think?"

He felt it was a fair deal, and even that they were getting a good deal.

After all, clean water is as precious as food in the apocalypse.

Xiao Han sneered as if he had heard a joke.

"water?"

He stood up and walked to the car door, opened it, took out a shiny metal kettle from inside and shook it.

The dull sound of water ripples in the pot.

“We don’t lack.”

"We have no shortage of food."

These words were like a silent slap in Wang Jianguo's face.

The people on his team were able to get clean water, but the other side didn't care?

Who are these people?

Wang Jianguo's face turned pale and blue as he looked at Xiao Han's stubborn expression. He then looked at Lu Shiyan, who was silent but had an aura that could not be ignored, and that woman who was still slowly peeling the sixth egg.

He gritted his teeth, and the little hope in his heart was completely extinguished.

"Okay, everyone has their own aspirations."

Wang Jianguo said this dryly with an unpleasant look on his face.

"Then I won't bother you anymore."

He turned around, and with a feeling of being rejected and faintly resentful, he greeted his people.

Su Wan finally peeled the sixth egg, and the egg white was stained with some yolk crumbs.

She put the egg in her mouth and chewed it slowly.

The forest returned to its previous tranquility, with only the four of them left and a mess of leftovers on the ground.

Wang Jianguo led his men away angrily, but did not leave immediately. The team slowly stopped by a forest not far away, as if they were still watching.

Su Wan had just swallowed the last bite of egg and was about to clean up the garbage on the ground.

A little boy who looked about seven or eight years old, with a pale face and thin body, walked out timidly from the group led by Wang Jianguo and slowly approached them.

His eyes were fixed on the conspicuous pile of egg shells at Su Wan's feet, as well as the eggs that had not yet been peeled.

The child didn't say anything, he just stretched out his dirty little hand, pointed at the pile of garbage, then pointed at his own mouth, and made a slight swallowing sound in his throat.

This scene is obviously not the first time it has happened.

Su Wan paused and looked at the child.

Her heart moved slightly, and a trace of pity arose, but was suppressed by the cruelty of the end of the world.

The little life in her belly made her unable to take risks easily.

Xiao Han, who was wiping a dagger nearby, raised his eyelids, with a hint of sarcasm at the corner of his mouth. He looked past the child and at the adults behind him who were either numb or instigating.

Lu Shiyan leaned against the car door, his eyes calm and his emotions undetectable, but the air pressure around him seemed to be a little lower.

Su Wan was about to say something when the child saw that she didn't respond. He looked anxious and suddenly pounced towards her, seemingly aiming at the boiled egg at her feet.

This was quick and sudden.

Su Wan was startled, and almost subconsciously, she covered her lower abdomen with both hands and shrank back.

"Don't move!"

The low shout did not come from Xiao Han, but from Lu Shiyan.

His voice was not loud, but it was as cold as ice. His eyes instantly became sharp as a knife, and an invisible sense of oppression suddenly spread out, shooting straight at the child who pounced on him.

The child was frightened by the look and the voice, and stopped abruptly one step away from Su Wan. His little face turned pale and his eyes were full of fear.

Xiao Han clicked his tongue, stood up straight, took a step forward, and spun the dagger flexibly between his fingers, with the tip pointing directly at the tip of the child's nose.

"One more step forward, the hands don't have eyes."
