Chapter 147 Infected Riot

Jiang Wenxi asked: "What did he talk to you about?"

"They asked for supplies, but they didn't find the supplies seized at sea and suspected I had diverted them."

I have to say that Liang Runwen is very smart and knows how to trace the source, but unfortunately there is no evidence.

Jiang Wenxi let out a light sigh. She was still being stared at.

"Is the base short of supplies?"

"Probably, the investment in the place where the infected are detained must be huge, and that cannot be solved by food alone."

Jiang Wenxi understood. This was the reason why they were targeting Brother Fang. Many of the materials purchased at the time could be used in heavy industry.

Fang Huaizhi changed the subject: "Let's go to the main road."

Jiang Wenxi followed Fang Huaizhi without asking any questions, and Gu Ran didn't ask any questions either, just followed him.

The streets were under martial law due to the infection, and most shops were closed. Only two official shops were open, providing some basic necessities.

"Brother Fang, what are you looking at?"

"These five shops will belong to us from now on."

Jiang Wenxi looked at the row of shops and was stunned for a moment: "That old man is so easy to talk to."

Fang Huaizhi smiled and said, "It's hard to say, but with you here, they are short of supplies, so we will provide them. Each store will have to hand over 10% of their harvest."

“It’s dark enough.”

"It was originally even darker, at 30 percent. I said we could share our research results later, so it was reduced to 10 percent."

Jiang Wenxi looked at the shop and said, "I was just about to say that you should come to the base less often in the future. Now that we have a shop, you will come more often."

Fang Huaizhi looked at the shop, then looked at other shops: "There's no rush for now, wait a minute."

After determining their location, the three of them walked back slowly, looking out of place compared to the rest of the street.

There were people on the road, most of them were in a hurry. Those with supplies in their hands walked faster with their heads down.

There were more patrolmen, who were already wearing the most low-key clothes, but they were clean and tidy, and the contrast was too stark compared to the unkempt people in the base.

When they arrived at the parking lot, they didn't see Yang Haochen. The three of them glanced around and found that the gatekeeper in the parking lot was not there either. He had suddenly disappeared.

"Where did this idiot go to wander off instead of checking the car?"

Jiang Wenxi knew Yang Haochen's personality and knew he wouldn't be so unreliable: "Look for him."

It is not easy to find someone in the entire base, so the three of them started looking directly from where they were watching the car.

There were six or seven cigarette butts scattered on the ground. The person must not have been gone for too long. Following the footprints, when I reached the door, the trace became difficult to find.

Jiang Wenxi speculated: "They should have left this gate."

There are two roads at the door, one is the main road they came from, and the other leads to the inside of the base.

"You guys wait here, I'll go check it out."

Jiang Wenxi carefully observed the ground and finally found a complete footprint at the corner. She determined the direction and waved to the two people.

"They should have entered the base and taken this path."

"Go and have a look?"

Fang Huaizhi looked at Jiang Wenxi with shining eyes and nodded, "Let's go and see what can make this idiot not even want the car."

They had not walked for long when they heard some noise. Jiang Wenxi could not wait any longer and directly climbed over the wall and stood on a high place to look for someone.

The people inside the wall were startled and looked up to see someone. Before they could call for help, Jiang Wenxi jumped down.

"Found it."

The three of them turned two more intersections and saw Yang Haochen and the people watching the cars, each holding a cigarette, squatting on a rock to watch the fun.

Jiang Wenxi came forward: "Brother Chen, what are you looking at?"

His hand was shaking as he was driving and he almost dropped the cigarette. Yang Haochen turned his head and said, "You're here. Did the house in front see you?"

Jiang Wenxi: “I see.”

"The family hid the infected person at home, and today he couldn't control himself and came out to bite someone. It took a team of inspectors to catch him. Now everyone in the family is isolated at home."

Jiang Wenxi could still see people wearing protective clothing coming in and out.

Fang Huaizhi asked condescendingly, "So, what did you figure out?"

"No, I just watched the excitement. Everyone else was watching."

"Get back to driving."

When the car was mentioned, the young man slapped his forehead and said, "I have to go back quickly."

They ran so fast that Yang Haochen stood up angrily and said, "Let's go back too."

Fang Huaizhi said, "I'm not going back. I'll leave you here to continue watching the fun."

Yang Haochen stood up, using his height advantage to increase his confidence: "It's not enough to just look at it. I'm just curious about what the infected people look like."

Fang Huaizhi snorted and laughed. There were infected people all along the way. He didn't know what they looked like, and he didn't know how to find a better excuse.

Jiang Wenxi asked: "Brother Chen, have you seen the infected come out and hurt people?"

"No, we heard the screams and ran over. The man was apprehended. We heard that two of his family members were bitten to death and a body was just carried out."

There were so many people guarding the door that it was impossible to get close. Jiang Wenxi guessed that this was not an isolated case. There must be many people who were infected and did not go to the hospital but hid at home.

The base will only become more chaotic in the future. Right now, the base hasn't made it clear that people are required to bring self-defense equipment, but they're just increasing patrols. They don't plan to come again until the situation becomes clear.

The four of them went back together and happened to meet a patrol team that came to support them, fully armed.

Fang Huaizhi raised his eyebrows slightly: "I'm afraid it's more serious than we thought."

Jiang Wenxi nodded: "Judging from the layout, there are quite a few people living in that house. Perhaps everyone inside has been infected."

No matter what happens to the base, they will not interfere. According to the current situation, the sooner they leave, the better it will be for them.

Before he could finish his words, he saw a team of special forces with four or five medical personnel coming over.

Fang Huaizhi and Jiang Wenxi locked eyes and urged, "Hurry up and leave."

Yang Haochen also felt that the atmosphere was not right. If only two or three people had died, there wouldn't be so many people coming.

The four of them jogged all the way, sat down, and sped all the way. When they arrived at the gate, they found that the inspection had become stricter.

Jiang Wenxi showed her pass: "We have a mission, let us go out first."

The guard checked the pass and made sure it was genuine before letting him pass.

After the car left the base, Fang Huaizhi asked, "You idiot, you've been looking there for a long time, but you haven't found anything useful."

Yang Haochen hadn't recovered yet: "Many people have seen it, but few have figured it out. Do you think everyone is as cunning as you, a fox?"

"Recall carefully what you saw and tell us bit by bit."

It’s better to analyze it yourself than to rely on Yang Haochen’s brain.

Jiang Minxi was driving when she saw a car from the base coming towards her. Seeing them honking their horns and someone leaning out of the car window and waving at them, Jiang Minxi could only slow down.

Yang Haochen opened the car window and shouted, "Brother, what's the matter?"

"Don't go any further, hurry back to base! The infected outside are suddenly rioting, and we can't get through the city. They bite anyone they see, and they're incredibly strong."

"Thank you~"

The thing they were worried about finally happened. Jiang Wenxi immediately changed direction. Since there were too many people in the city and they didn't want to go there, they decided to take a detour back.

Jiang Wenxi held the steering wheel with one hand and pulled out a weapon from the space with the other: "The road around the outer ring road may not be easy to drive on, so everyone should be alert."
