At night, the roar of planes overhead continued one after another.
Fang Huaizhi pinched his brows. He hadn't slept well the previous night, so he got up early.
Chen Yu didn't sleep well either. He was dozing off in front of the stove, where ginger tea was still boiling.
Fang Huaizhi made some simple arrangements, explained everything that needed to be said, and sat in the living room with his eyes closed to rest.
Jiang Wenxi slept until noon, and only remembered to contact Fang Huaizhi after she had eaten and drunk her fill.
"You still remember me. If it had been any later, I would have asked for help."
Jiang Wenxi chuckled twice. She couldn't say that her life was too comfortable and she forgot about them.
"Brother Fang, I'll pick you up."
"Come on, just land directly at the military's helipad. I'll be waiting for you there."
"good."
"Brother Chuan, I'm going to pick up Brother Fang and the others."
Shen Yunchuan nodded, and Jiang Wenxi climbed to the roof and took out the helicopter.
The fact that she was allowed to pick them up meant that the base had no plans to return the helicopter. When Jiang Minxi landed, she saw the two people who had been waiting for a long time, and there were other people behind them.
Jiang Wenxi did not go down. Fang Huaizhi turned around and said something to the people behind him.
The two boarded the plane. Jiang Wenxi looked at the two who looked haggard and joked, "Fortunately, I can run fast."
Fang Huaizhi's eyebrows curved slightly and the corners of his mouth raised: "You are so smart."
The first thing they did when they got home was to take a bath. Fang Huaizhi sighed that home was still the best. When he went downstairs and saw the delicious meal, he regretted not coming back earlier.
Shen Yunchuan rarely refrained from ridiculing the two of them. Seeing Yang Haochen's starving appearance, he turned his head away in disgust.
"Xixi, I exchanged the helicopter for other supplies. The base has no plans to return the helicopter for the time being."
When they return it, it will probably be a damaged second-hand product, so it’s better to exchange it for something else.
"Okay, we don't lack either."
Shen Yunchuan asked, "What's the current situation at the base?"
"We currently know of five major bases. There are three central bases, and two major bases in the northwest and southwest. As for the other locations, we haven't contacted them yet."
"We're at Central Base 2. The granary at Central Base 1 was severely damaged in the blizzard, and the Southwest Base is blocked by mutants. We're requesting support everywhere, and most of the helicopters are being sent there."
The blizzard temporarily stopped the mutant beasts' attack and also blocked their way, so food could not be transported in and people could not get out.
"What else did the base say?" Jiang Wenxi put a fresh meat wonton into her mouth.
"They also predicted a pause in the snowstorm, with various mutant creatures and zombies appearing everywhere. Some villages and settlements were severely damaged by the storm."
"The base means that after the snowstorm passes, they will organize rescue personnel to hunt zombies and related mutant creatures. They are still in the discussion stage."
Jiang Wenxi was not surprised. It was only a matter of time.
“How’s the store?”
"Most of the stores on the base are closed temporarily. The base is providing daily relief. It's so cold, so stay at home if you can. I heard that over 4,000 people froze to death in this snowstorm."
Luo Chuwan snorted and wiped her mouth with a tissue: "I'm afraid there are more. How do you deal with the bodies?"
"Directly incinerate."
It's not safe to leave them outside or bury them underground, so the relief center at the base is sending people out in truckloads every day.
On the second night after Fang Huaizhi returned, a blizzard suddenly hit, and the wind speed instantly reached level eight. Everyone hid in the villa and took the opportunity to train.
During this period, the system would occasionally tell them about the situation outside, where some creatures or mutated zombies had appeared.
"System, I won't leave even if there are mountains of gold and silver."
"Host, I'm not planning on letting you out. I'm just telling you that the world outside has changed. It's now full of creatures from that time and space."
This time the snowstorm was severe, but it did not last long and stopped on the sixth day.
"Host, it won't snow any more in the near future, but you seem to be in trouble."
"System, are you kidding me?"
"No, there's something under the snow at the bottom of the mountain, and it's alive."
Jiang Wenxi gritted her teeth angrily: "Why didn't you tell me such an important thing earlier?"
"I reminded you subtly, but the host didn't hear it. Don't worry, they haven't gone up the mountain yet."
Jiang Wenxi really wanted to dismantle the system and see what was happening. Who would have the time to think about it when it was reporting about mutant animals coming all day long?
"Thank you so much for your thoughtfulness. Now that the snow has stopped, are they planning to come up?"
"I don't know, I haven't moved yet."
The system brought up a picture, and Jiang Wenxi saw something under the snow, which could not be seen without careful observation.
They are all white, crowded together, and there are quite a few of them.
"System, what is that? How much is the damage worth?"
"Host, this is the first time I've seen this thing. Its genes are somewhat similar to those of mice. It slowly moved here from dozens of kilometers away."
It moved 5-20 kilometers under the snow every day. It also detected for several days and confirmed that it was heading in their direction.
"I don't count on you."
Jiang Wenxi brought Ah Qi out of the space and pointed at the image projected on the monitor: "Do you know him?"
"Food."
"What's your name? What are your specialties?"
"Food," he said, and was about to stretch his claws into the surveillance screen. Jiang Wenxi turned around and threw him into space.
One second later, the surveillance screen would have been shattered. With their IQs low, communication was difficult. Jiang Minxi climbed to the top floor and brought all five lizardmen out of the space.
"Clean up the food."
Ah Qi sniffed the air, jumped into the snow pile and disappeared, and the rest jumped down as well.
Only Xiaoliu was left. Jiang Wenxi asked, "Why don't you leave?"
"Tools, bags."
Jiang Wenxi threw out more than a dozen bags from the space, and finally found one with a brain.
"Wait outside after you catch them. You are not allowed to go up to the roof."
Xiaoliu jumped into the snow pile holding the bag. Jiang Wenxi stood on the roof for a while, felt a little cold, and turned around to go down.
Fang Huaizhi and Qi Ning were watching in front of the monitor. Occasionally, the bird would pop up, but most of the time it was under the snow.
"Xixi, what are you catching?"
"I don't know. The system said it might be a kind of rodent. Besides digging holes, there aren't any viruses on them."
Fang Huaizhi: “…” Isn’t drilling a hole the biggest danger?
Jiang Wenxi looked at Ah Qi and the others on the surveillance camera: "System, how much time is left for the next space fusion?"
"Host, I guess I'll only be home for a few days~"
"Look, there's someone."
Fang Huaizhi immediately switched to the surveillance footage, which was captured by the aircraft released by Qi Ning.
Anyone who came out during this period of time is no ordinary person, no matter how you look at it. How could the base send people out so quickly?
Jiang Wenxi was not worried about meeting people, but about them coming over. Ah Qi and the others were still outside, and she seemed to be able to imagine that scene if they ran into them.
The surveillance footage shows a group of people riding on a sled. Judging from the traces left by the sled, they should be coming from the south, and there is a group of black figures chasing them from behind.
"Host, there is a wolf behind."
The surveillance footage shook, and Qi Ning cursed softly, "I've been discovered."
