Chapter 50 Four Dishes and One Soup

The soldier unlocked the heavy lock, the jailer pulled open the iron gate, and went inside.

"Your Highness, Your Highness, the meal is here."

Ouyang Yuqing watched as the jailer walked in carrying a food box, still calling him "Your Highness".

He reminded the jailer.

"Warden, I've already warned you, I'm no longer a prince. You'd better watch your words from now on."

Yes, yes, I understand.

The jailer thought to himself: Now that you've said that, do you think I'd dare to do anything casually?

With your status, who knows, the emperor might miss your brother one day and reinstate you to your original position. Wouldn't that be courting death for me?

To be honest, the jailer actually had some truth to it.

When the dog emperor was beset by internal and external troubles, he remembered his good younger brother and prepared to recall Ouyang Yuqing.

Ouyang Yuqing, however, was living a carefree life in the northern desert, with his wife as the eldest and him as the second eldest.

These are all things to be discussed later, so let's not get into them now.

"Your Highness, Your Highness, I've brought the food. Shall I put it here for you...?"

Let's go to the usual place.

"Okay..."

The jailer placed the food box next to Ouyang Yuqing.

While opening the food box, he said to Shen Yingying, "Your Highness, the ginseng soup I made for the Prince has been simmering for an hour and a half."

It was served as soon as it was cooked. Do you guys like it and see if it's flavorful?

Shen Yingying glanced at the food and thought to herself: We still need to make a fuss, otherwise how can we get such good food?

Look at this: two bowls of glistening, oily rice, a roast duck, a steamed fish, two vegetable dishes, and a clay pot of ginseng chicken soup.

It's basically a working lunch.

"Hmm, I'll try it."

Upon hearing that the princess wanted to try it, the jailer quickly picked up an empty bowl from the side, scooped out a bowl of chicken soup with a spoon, and served it to Shen Yingying.

Shen Yingying took the chicken soup and took a small sip.

"Hmm, the taste is not bad. Give our boss a bowl, and also put the ginseng in it for him."

Okay, sure.

The jailer treated the two of them like royalty, serving them their meals.

Su Degui, who was in the cell next door, saw the food arrive and his eyes lit up with hunger.

It's still thin porridge that you can see your reflection in, and it's still hard, dry cornbread.

But Su Degui was no longer picky and picked up the cornbread to start eating.

The cornbread was crumbly and difficult to chew, and it even made Hu Degui's throat feel rough when he swallowed it. Helpless, he drank a few more mouthfuls of thin porridge that was so thin you could see your reflection in it.

He only realized what was happening after he had eaten something and was no longer so hungry.

He actually ate the food he himself had cursed at lunchtime, food that even a dog wouldn't eat.

This made him feel as uncomfortable as if he had swallowed a dead fly when he ate cornbread.

The relatives from the second branch of the family, who had also been hungry all day, began to fight over the cornbread and porridge.

Su Degui looked at the chaotic family in the prison, then at the couple next to him enjoying a delicious meal.

He was seething with hatred.

He thought to himself, "Damn that Ouyang Yuqing, she not only got us all thrown in jail."

They were eating and drinking well, but they didn't take care of him at all.

The old man shouldn't have saved that old geezer back then.

At this moment, Shen Yingying was persuading Ouyang Yuqing to eat the ginseng that had been there for decades.

This way, the injuries will heal faster.

However, Ouyang Yuqing believed that his injuries were only superficially frightening, and that his internal injuries had actually healed to a great extent.

He doesn't need this kind of supplementation...

However, Shen Yingying believed that after losing so much blood from the injury, at the very least, it would be good to replenish the blood.

There was nothing Ouyang Yuqing could do; she couldn't resist her little princess's stubbornness, so she had no choice but to bite the bullet and eat the ginseng.

Who could resist thoughtfulness beneath a stubborn exterior?

(Anyone who has eaten ginseng knows that it doesn't taste very good. I personally dislike that taste.)
