Chapter 426 Disgust

He didn't know when the disaster would end, nor did he know whether he could survive it, but he knew that no matter how great the difficulties and challenges were, he had to persevere, for the sake of those living creatures and for himself.

Amidst the scorching 75-degree heat, Xiao Yi finally found a well-sheltered cave, where he could temporarily escape the relentless scorching sun. The cool and pleasant interior of the cave was a stark contrast to the scorching heat outside. Upon entering the cave, Xiao Yi immediately felt a refreshing breeze, as if he had entered another world.

He stood in the center of the cave and looked around. The walls of the cave were covered with a thick layer of moss, which looked vibrant. In a corner of the cave, a clear stream gurgled, making a pleasant sound. Xiao Yi walked to the stream and scooped up a handful of clear water. The cool water droplets immediately took away the fatigue and heat on his face.

After confirming the safety of the cave, Xiao Yi began to get busy. He took the backpack from the speedboat, which contained the ingredients and cooking tools he had prepared in advance. He first spread a clean cloth on the ground, and then took out the ingredients one by one. There were fresh fish, fresh vegetables and fruits, as well as some canned seasonings and cooked food.

Xiao Yi took out a small grill and fixed it to the ground with a few stones. He took some charcoal from his backpack and lit it with a match. As the flames leaped, a warm breath spread throughout the cave. Xiao Yi placed the fish on the grill, sprinkled some seasoning on it, and began to grill it.

While waiting for the fish to cook, Xiao Yi wasn't idle either. He took out a small chopping board and a knife from his backpack and began to process the vegetables and fruit. He first cut the fruit into chunks and set them aside. Then he washed the vegetables, cut them into thin strips, and placed them in a bowl.

The fish was finally grilled, emitting an enticing aroma. Xiao Yi placed the fish on a plate and took out some canned cooked food and seasonings and placed them aside. Finally, he placed the cut fruits and vegetables on another plate. Now, his gourmet feast was ready.

Xiao Yi sat down on the spread and began to enjoy his meal. He first picked up a piece of fish with a fork, dipped it in some seasoning, and put it in his mouth. The fish was tender and juicy, with an excellent taste. Then he picked up some vegetables and fruits and savored them carefully. These foods remained fresh and delicious even under the high temperature, which made Xiao Yi feel very satisfied.

While enjoying the food, Xiao Yi couldn't help but feel deeply moved. In such an extreme environment, being able to eat such delicious food is really a rare enjoyment. He knew that his survival was inseparable from the nourishment and support of these foods. He decided that in the days to come, he would cherish food and resources more and work hard to survive.

As the sky darkened, Xiao Yi lit a small lamp in the cave. Under the light, the cave seemed particularly warm and peaceful. Xiao Yi continued to enjoy his meal, savoring this rare moment of peace and tranquility. He knew how precious and unforgettable this moment of peace and contentment was in this challenging and scorching heat.

Yu Wei huddled in a dark, damp corner of the shelter, her former splendor long since eroded by time and the scorching heat of the apocalypse. Her long hair draped messily over her thin shoulders, her eyes revealing an indescribable exhaustion and despair.

This once proud and confident woman now relies on limited food relief to survive. The bowl in her hand is already worn, and the food inside is pitifully thin, yet it is her most important source of energy for the day. Yu Wei swallows each bite with difficulty, as if tasting the bitterness of life.

Deep within the shelter, temperatures soared past 30 degrees Celsius, like a giant steamer. Despite a weak ventilation system, the heat wave relentlessly permeated every corner. The air was thick with a suffocating stench, the product of sweat, rotting food, and prolonged periods of lack of ventilation.

Yu huddled on a tattered bed, sweat dripping down her cheeks and soaking the pillow. Her clothes were soaked through, sticking to her skin with an unbearable stickiness. She tried to fan herself, but the weak breeze was unable to dissipate the heat.

Food and water were extremely scarce, with daily rations being meager. Yu Wei had to calculate carefully, ensuring every morsel of food and water was used to its full potential. She was constantly hungry and thirsty, feelings that only made her more anxious and restless.

Besides material deprivation, Yu Wei also suffered from mental torture. She often recalled her past life and compared it to her current predicament, feeling a deep sense of sadness. She didn't know how long this would last, nor did she know if she could endure it.

In such an environment, people's emotions become extremely sensitive and fragile. Sometimes, trivial matters can trigger heated arguments and conflicts. Yu Wei tried to remain silent and avoid getting involved in these disputes. She just wanted to wait quietly for help to arrive.

However, hope seemed increasingly distant. As time passed, living conditions in the shelter grew increasingly harsh. Yu Wei knew she had to make a change, or face certain death. She began searching for alternative resources and connecting with other survivors, hoping to find a path to survival.

In this shelter, scorching hot, stinking, and lacking food and water, Yu Wei faces unprecedented survival challenges. She must rely on her own wisdom and courage to battle the harsh environment. Although the road ahead is filled with unknowns and dangers, she believes that as long as she persists, there will always be a glimmer of hope.
