Chapter 569: Intelligent Zombies

The team leader looked at Xiao Yi with eyes full of respect and gratitude. He knew that without Xiao Yi's timely rescue and powerful strength, their team would have been wiped out long ago. Giving Xiao Yi the most crystal cores was not only a recognition of his strength, but also a reward for his selfless assistance.

Xiao Yi put away the crystal core and turned to leave. He knew that in the end times, every time he went out was an adventure, and he had to return to his RV fortress as soon as possible to ensure safety.

Before leaving, he looked back at the team members who were still busy collecting crystal cores, and silently prayed that they could survive in this cruel apocalypse. He knew that only through unity and mutual assistance could they face the challenges of the future together.

Xiao Yi's figure gradually disappeared in the dust in the distance, but his fame and legend spread throughout the base. He became a hero and guardian in the eyes of the people, and his story will continue to be passed down in this apocalypse.

On the way back, Xiao Yi's steps suddenly became heavy. He keenly sensed that something was amiss in the surrounding atmosphere. The zombies, which had been fleeing in all directions, had now formed a neat, encircling circle. Alarm bells rang in his heart. In the apocalypse, any abnormality could be a sign of danger.

He looked around and found that the other team members had already left. He couldn't help feeling uneasy. He took a deep breath and decided to go back and see what happened.

As he cautiously returned to the battlefield, the sight before him made him gasp. Beneath the corpses of all the other zombies, curled up, pretending to be dead. This zombie looked just like any other, with grayish-white skin and a sickening stench. But surprisingly, its eyes weren't dull and gray, but rather gleamed with a human glow.

Xiao Yi's heart moved. He realized that this zombie might not be a real zombie, but a human controlled by some power. He quietly approached the zombie pretending to be dead, ready to find out what was going on.

The moment he approached, the zombie suddenly opened its eyes, a sly glint in its eyes. It suddenly jumped up and attacked Xiao Yi. Xiao Yi was prepared, he quickly dodged the zombie's attack and knocked it to the ground with a backhand punch.

He grabbed the zombie's collar tightly and shouted angrily: "Who are you? Why did you pretend to be a zombie to attack us?"

The zombie didn't say anything, just stared at Xiao Yi with resentful eyes. Xiao Yi's mind moved, and he suddenly thought of a possibility. This zombie might be one of the missing members of the previous team. He was controlled by some force and turned into this appearance.

Thinking of this, Xiao Yi couldn't help but feel a chill. He knew that in this apocalypse, there were too many unknowns and dangers hidden. He had to remain vigilant at all times to protect himself and those around him.

He released his grip, letting the zombie fall to the ground. Then, he turned and left, his heart filled with wariness and unease. He knew that the appearance of this zombie might just be a microcosm of the countless crises in the apocalypse. He had to work even harder to survive in this cruel world.

Xiao Yi stared at the zombie on the ground with a frown. He could sense the unusual smell emanating from the zombie, a mixture of the stench of zombies and the faint breath of humans, which made him feel very confused.

The zombie lay there, motionless, as if truly dead. But Xiao Yi knew that this was just a disguise. He saw a hint of cunning and determination in the zombie's eyes, a stubborn refusal to succumb to fate.

"Why didn't you completely turn into a zombie?" Xiao Yi asked in a low voice, his voice full of inquiry and curiosity.

The zombie didn't answer, but stared at Xiao Yi with his eyes that still held a trace of human brilliance. His lips moved slightly, as if he wanted to say something, but in the end, he only let out a low growl.

Xiao Yi understood that although this zombie was infected with the zombie virus, he had not completely lost his mind. Perhaps he had retained a trace of clarity under the attack of the virus, becoming a special existence in this apocalypse.

He sighed, squatted down, and carefully observed the zombie. He found that although the zombie's body was stiff and cold, a determined light flickered in its eyes. It was a desire for survival and a resistance to fate.

Xiao Yi's mind moved, and he suddenly thought of a possibility. This zombie might become a powerful weapon for them to fight against the zombie army. He possessed the power of a zombie, but retained the wisdom and consciousness of a human. Such an existence was undoubtedly a valuable resource.

He stood up and decided to take the zombie back to the RV fortress. He believed that as long as they could make good use of the zombie's power, they might be able to find a glimmer of hope in the apocalypse.

On the way back, Xiao Yi had been thinking about how to tame and use this zombie. He knew that this would be a difficult task, but he also believed that as long as they worked together, they would be able to overcome the challenges of the apocalypse.

Xiao Yi named him Number One. Before becoming a zombie, Number One was actually a highly educated Feng Shui master with a degree in physics. When he saw Xiao Yi, he guessed he must have a hidden secret. Perhaps a storage space, or perhaps he awakened his superpowers earlier than others.

Xiao Yi brought this special zombie back to the RV fortress and named him "No. 1". Although No. 1 looked no different from a zombie, the human brilliance and remaining wisdom in his eyes made Xiao Yi very interested in him.
