He had been fighting for more than ten hours straight, his strength gradually reaching the brink of exhaustion. Sweat soaked his clothes, and every muscle ached. But he didn't retreat. He knew that if he fell, it would mean failure and death.
Xiao Yi gritted his teeth and swung the weapon in his hand, repelling the zombies' attacks again and again. His movements were not as swift as before, but each swing was full of determination and perseverance.
The number of zombies seemed endless. They rushed towards Xiao Yi one after another, trying to tear him to pieces. Xiao Yi kept retreating, looking for obstacles to lean on. His heart was filled with anxiety and helplessness, but he knew that he could not give up, he had to persevere.
Suddenly, Xiao Yi stumbled and nearly fell to the ground. He quickly steadied himself, but several zombies had already pounced on him. He struggled hard, pushing the zombies away with all his might. But more zombies rushed forward, their bloody mouths wide open, biting Xiao Yi.
Xiao Yi's heart tightened. He knew that he had reached a critical moment of life and death. He took a deep breath and used all his strength to smash the weapon in his hand at the nearest zombie. The zombie's head exploded instantly, and brain matter splattered everywhere.
This attack seemed to have unleashed Xiao Yi's potential, and he became incredibly ferocious. He was no longer just passively defending, but instead began to attack proactively. He brandished his weapon, carving a bloody path through the zombie horde.
The zombies were frightened by his momentum and began to retreat. Xiao Yi took the opportunity to escape to a safe place. He knew he couldn't stop, otherwise he might be caught up by the zombies.
Finally, after a thrilling escape, Xiao Yi escaped the encirclement of the zombie army. He collapsed on the ground, gasping for breath. His physical strength was exhausted, but he managed to survive.
This battle strengthened Xiao Yi's faith and determination. He knew that in the end times, survival was a brutal struggle. But he would not give up. He would continue to persevere until the dawn of hope came.
Just when Xiao Yi was about to be exhausted and almost gave up struggling, a familiar figure suddenly broke through the circle of zombies and rushed to his side. It was his teammate, a half-human, half-zombie existence. He was once human, but was infected by a virus in the apocalypse and became what he is now.
His face had become hideous, his skin grayish-white, and his eyes flickered with a green light, the hallmarks of a zombie. But his eyes still retained a human spirit, a desire for survival and trust in his companions.
"Xiao Yi!" He roared, his voice filled with anxiety and worry. He didn't say anything extra, but simply supported Xiao Yi up with all his strength and let him lean against him.
When Xiao Yi saw him coming, a hint of surprise flashed in his eyes, but more of it was relief and gratitude. He knew that with the help of this teammate, he might be able to get through this.
"Thank you..." Xiao Yi spoke with difficulty, his voice hoarse and weak.
"Don't talk, save your energy." The teammate said in a low voice. His movements were quick and powerful, helping Xiao Yi resist the attacks of the surrounding zombies.
The two of them cooperated seamlessly. Although Xiao Yi was exhausted, with the help of his teammates, they were still able to barely withstand the zombies' attack.
The zombies seemed to be intimidated by the existence of this half-human, half-zombie, and their attacks became hesitant and slow. This gave Xiao Yi a chance to breathe, and he began to gradually recover some physical strength.
"We have to find a place to rest." Xiao Yi said breathlessly.
"I know a place." The teammate nodded, helped Xiao Yi up, and walked towards a narrow alley.
With the help of his teammates, Xiao Yi moved his feet with difficulty. Behind them, the roar of the zombies continued, but they had been left far behind.
Finally, they arrived at an abandoned building. Although it was dilapidated, it could at least temporarily hide from the zombies.
Xiao Yi leaned against the wall, breathing heavily. His strength had recovered somewhat, but the fatigue and pain in his body were still unbearable.
His teammates stood beside him silently, his eyes revealing concern and worry. But he didn't say much, just quietly guarding Xiao Yi so that he could rest in peace.
In the darkness of the apocalypse, the trust and support between companions became Xiao Yi's motivation to persevere. He knew that as long as they united as one, they would be able to defeat the invasion of the apocalypse and usher in a new dawn.
They had temporarily escaped the zombie blockade, but Xiao Yi knew that this was not a long-term solution. The zombie army was swarming like locusts, and their number seemed endless. If they were surrounded again, the consequences would be disastrous.
Taking advantage of the night, Xiao Yi and his half-human, half-zombie teammates hid in an abandoned building. Although dilapidated, it at least provided them with temporary shelter. Xiao Yi pulled a bottle of precious spiritual spring water from his backpack. This was a magical water source he had accidentally discovered during his pre-apocalyptic expedition. It was said to restore physical strength and enhance immunity.
He carefully unscrewed the cap and gulped down the spiritual spring water. The cool water slid down his throat, instantly dispelling his fatigue and thirst. He could feel a warm current flowing slowly through his body, repairing damaged cells and restoring lost strength.
After drinking the spiritual spring water, Xiao Yi felt much better. He closed his eyes and quietly felt the changes in his body. He could hear his heartbeat and feel the warmth of blood flowing through his veins. He knew that he had regained his fighting strength.
