Chapter 609 Hope to Establish

When Xiao Yi woke up, sunlight shone through the cracks in the wooden house onto his face, bringing a hint of warmth. He rubbed his sleepy eyes and vaguely heard soft voices coming from outside. He quickly sat up and looked towards the door alertly.

The door was gently pushed open, and a girl appeared in the doorway. She looked about sixteen or seventeen years old, with a pretty face and a gleam of determination and courage in her eyes. She was wearing a clean dress, although it was a little worn, but it was obvious that she tried her best to keep it neat.

"You're awake," the girl said softly, a hint of concern in her voice.

"Well, thank you." Xiao Yi responded while looking at the girl.

The girl introduced herself as Lin Na, another survivor. She told Xiao Yi that there were other survivors on the mountain, and they had formed a small group to help each other and survive together. Lin Na said that she had discovered Xiao Yi's whereabouts and came to check on the situation.

"Really? That's great!" Xiao Yi was very happy after hearing this. He knew how important it was to have someone to rely on in this dangerous world.

"Yes, we welcome you to join us." Lin Na said with a smile. Her smile was as warm as the sun, which made Xiao Yi feel at ease.

Xiao Yi quickly packed up his things and prepared to follow Lin Na to where the survivors gathered. His heart was full of anticipation and gratitude, because he knew that he had finally found a group he could rely on, and they would face this challenging world together.

On the way to the survivor gathering place, Lin Na introduced the small group to Xiao Yi. She said that each of them had their own strengths and skills, and they learned from each other, helped each other, and jointly resisted the threat of zombies. Xiao Yi listened to Lin Na's introduction with admiration and gratitude.

Soon after, Xiao Yi arrived at the place where the survivors had gathered. He saw a group of people who were as strong and brave as him, busy preparing food and water. When they saw Xiao Yi coming, they greeted him warmly and invited him to join them.

Xiao Yi felt as warm and at ease as if he had returned home. He knew he was no longer alone in this dangerous world. He would work together with these survivors to survive and find hope in rebuilding their home.

In the communication with other survivors, Xiao Yi's fatigue seemed to be dispelled by a new force. He sat around the fire, listening to everyone's stories and experiences, and in their words, a key word frequently appeared - base.

This base, located on the edge of the city, was reportedly a refuge quickly established by the military in the early days of the disaster. It boasted sturdy fortifications to withstand the zombie invasion, along with ample food and water to ensure the basic survival needs of the survivors. More importantly, it housed a large number of survivors, who supported each other and worked together to resist the zombie threat.

A strong desire surged in Xiao Yi's heart. He knew that only by going to the base could he find more survivors and face this disaster together; only there could he get better protection and accumulate more strength to rebuild his home.

He stood up, looked firmly at the other survivors by the fire, and said in a strong voice, "I've decided to go to the base. I believe there, we can find more partners and fight the zombie threat together. I also believe that only by uniting together can we rebuild our home."

The other survivors expressed their support. They were infected by Xiao Yi's determination and courage and were willing to follow him to the base. So they began to pack their bags, collect the necessary supplies, and make full preparations for the upcoming journey.

On the day of departure, the sun shone on the ruins, bringing a glimmer of life to this barren land. Xiao Yi and other survivors stood shoulder to shoulder, hand in hand, and embarked on the journey to the base. They knew that the road ahead was full of unknowns and dangers, but they also believed that as long as they united as one, nothing could stop them from moving forward.

Xiao Yi and the other survivors embarked on a journey to the base, filled with both anticipation and anxiety. They advanced along the mountain path, taking each step cautiously, fearing to alert the zombies lurking in the shadows. The path was rugged, but their steps were firm and powerful, for they knew that only by reaching the base could they find better shelter and a safer future.

They journeyed day and night, enduring countless dangers and hardships. Sometimes, they cleverly avoided zombies in dense forests; other times, they engaged in desperate battles with the zombies in narrow valleys. But no matter how great the difficulties, they never gave up, knowing that only by persevering could they reach their desired destination.

After several days of arduous journey, they finally arrived at the gate of the base. They saw a huge iron gate, tightly closed, covered in thick rust, but still incredibly sturdy. Several soldiers stood at the gate, weapons in hand, their eyes scanning the surroundings vigilantly.

Xiao Yi and other survivors stepped forward and told the soldiers their purpose. After hearing this, the soldiers showed joyful expressions on their faces. They quickly opened the iron gate and invited Xiao Yi and others into the base.

As soon as they entered the base, Xiao Yi and the others were shocked by the scene before them. They saw rows of neatly arranged houses standing before them, and the streets were bustling with people coming and going. The people here were all wearing uniform clothes, and their faces were filled with happy smiles. When they saw Xiao Yi and the others coming, they greeted them warmly and invited them to join their ranks.

Xiao Yi felt a surge of warmth and peace of mind. He knew he had finally found a group he could rely on, a home where they could jointly resist the zombie threat. Together with the other survivors, he started a new life and worked hard to rebuild his home.
