Chapter 626: Survival

Their pores also seemed to grow larger and more pronounced, straining to open to release excess body heat. Sweat oozed continuously from these open pores, but as soon as it appeared, it evaporated quickly, leaving only white salt marks on the skin.

Internal changes were also taking place. The heart beat faster and stronger, accelerating blood circulation to help dissipate heat. The blood became thicker, as if concentrated by the heat. Their respiratory systems also constantly adjusted, their breaths becoming rapid and shallow, struggling to absorb the last bit of cool oxygen from the scorching air. Their muscles tightened, as if strengthening themselves under the stimulation of the heat to cope with the physical strain it brought.

People's eyes, exposed to the intense heat for so long, became bloodshot, a hazy film forming on the surface of their eyeballs, the result of damage from the heat and dryness. Hair became dry and brittle, easily breaking and losing its original luster. Everyone's body, under the test of these extreme temperatures, underwent visible changes, striving to adapt to this extremely harsh environment and tenaciously resisting the heat.

Xiao Yi learned to judge time and direction based on the position of the sun, and he could keenly perceive even the slightest changes in climate.

They learned how to find water, which plants' roots contained water, and how to collect the morning dew. During the hot days, they would seek out cool places to rest and conserve their energy.

To cope with food shortages, they learned to catch small animals and identify which fruits were edible. They also made simple tools out of stones and branches, making survival a little easier.

At night, when the temperature dropped slightly, they would sit together, share their experiences and stories, and encourage and support each other. Xiao Yi looked at his companions around him, and a warm feeling welled up in his heart. They were no longer the group of people who were at a loss at the beginning.

However, although they have learned how to survive better, the road ahead is still full of challenges and unknowns. But Xiao Yi firmly believes that as long as they unite and rely on the survival skills they have mastered now, they will be able to continue to move forward and find a safe place that truly belongs to them.

They continue to move forward on this hot land, facing every new challenge and opportunity with hope and courage.

Xiao Yi led the survivors forward slowly. Suddenly, he noticed something strange in the fog ahead.

As they approached, they discovered that this was a mysterious place they had never seen before. A strange light filled the air, and ancient buildings loomed, as if telling stories from long ago.

Xiao Yi's heartbeat could not help but speed up, he knew that this might be the turning point of their fate. They stepped into this place carefully, every step was full of caution.

Here, they found some strange symbols and patterns carved on the walls and stone pillars, as if they were some kind of mysterious code. Xiao Yi tried to decipher the meaning of these symbols, but he had no clue.

They continued to go deeper and found a huge cave with a faint light inside. As they got closer, they found that the walls of the cave were inlaid with some strange crystals, emitting mysterious energy.

When people fleeing the apocalypse arrived at this strange and mysterious place, panic spread quickly like a tide.

Some people opened their eyes wide in fear, their bodies trembling uncontrollably, and kept muttering, "Where is this? Where is this?" They looked around in panic and walked back and forth quickly, as if this could help them find some sense of security.

Some people began to shout their companions' names loudly, their voices filled with anxiety and helplessness, "Where are you? Come out quickly!" They ignored their tired bodies and ran frantically around the area looking for them.

An argument erupted. "It's all your fault for leading us the wrong way, leading us to this hellish place!" one person angrily accused the other. "How could I have known this would happen? Don't talk nonsense!" the person being accused fought back, unwilling to be outdone. Their voices grew louder and their emotions intensified, as they shifted the blame between the two.

Some people began to scramble for the few resources they had, "This is mine, don't take it!" "Why should it be yours? Everyone has a share!" Pushing and pulling continued in the crowd, and the already fragile order collapsed in an instant.

Some people sat on the ground, weeping in despair, unsure of what to do next and filled with uncertainty about the future. Others, in their panic, accidentally bumped into others, sparking new arguments and conflicts. The entire scene was a chaotic mess, with people's actions and arguments intertwined, and an atmosphere of despair and chaos permeated this strange and mysterious place.

Xiao Yi felt a powerful force pulling him in, and countless thoughts flashed through his mind. What did these discoveries mean? Was it an opportunity or a danger?

Just as they were puzzled, a low roar suddenly came from the depths of the cave, as if some huge being was awakening. Xiao Yi and the survivors looked at each other nervously. They didn't know what would happen next, but they knew that their fate might be changed by these new discoveries. In this mysterious place, they must be cautious and explore the unknown secrets, looking for hope for survival and direction for the future.

Xiao Yi and the survivors gradually deepened their exploration of the mysterious place. When they opened an ancient and heavy stone door, they were stunned by the scene before them.

Boxes of gold, silver and jewelry shone brightly. It was a huge treasure they had never seen before.
