The pain of being cold and soaked is not only physically torturous, but also mentally devastating, leaving people waiting in despair, not knowing when this nightmarish torture will end.
Every sound of raindrops hitting the roof was like a heavy hammer hitting their hearts, making their nerves tense again.
"When will the rain stop?" someone whispered.
"I don't know, it feels like I've been waiting for a long time..." another person responded.
At this time, the torrential rain outside still showed no signs of abating, as if it would continue like this forever. They endured hunger, cold and fear in this shelter, not knowing how long this would last.
But they have no choice but to continue waiting, waiting for that possible turn of events, waiting for the moment when the rain will stop and the sky will clear up.
As time went on, the harsh environment began to take its toll. Some people began to fall ill without warning, initially with a mild cough and fever, but quickly developing into serious illness.
Some people had high fevers that wouldn't go away, their bodies burning like furnaces, yet they shivered in the cold air. They lay in bed, their consciousness hazy, mumbling and babbling, their foreheads covered in sweat, their teeth chattering from the cold.
Others coughed incessantly, each cough as if they were coughing their hearts and lungs out of their throats. Their chests heaved violently, their throats ached unbearably, their voices were hoarse, and their faces were distorted with pain.
Some people suffered from diarrhea and frequently ran to the toilet, their bodies so weak that they could barely stand. Their abdomens ached, their faces were sallow, and their eyes were filled with fear and helplessness.
The children were even more pitiful, their tiny bodies bearing immense pain. They cried incessantly, their faces flushed red, their former liveliness and innocence shattered by the pain.
The elderly are even more vulnerable, their already frail bodies made even more vulnerable by the onslaught of illness. They lie in the corner, breathing weakly, as if the candle of life is about to be extinguished in the wind and rain.
Everyone was tortured by illness and the painful groans that echoed one after another in this devastated environment were heartbreaking to hear.
Their physical condition deteriorated rapidly, their faces turned pale as paper, and they were so weak that they could hardly stand. Some of them lay on the ground, groaning in pain, their lives seemingly slipping away bit by bit.
This sudden situation brought tremendous pressure to the entire team. Xiao Yi was extremely anxious. He had to take care of these sick people while also comforting others.
"What should we do? They can't go on like this!" someone said anxiously.
Xiao Yi gritted his teeth and said firmly: "We can't give up on them, we must find a way to save them."
However, in this situation of scarce supplies and harsh environment, it is not easy to save these patients. Without enough medicines and good medical conditions, they can only watch the patients' conditions get worse and worse.
The entire team was enveloped in a heavy atmosphere, and everyone felt as if a huge rock was weighing down their hearts. Everyone knew that if this problem was not solved quickly, more people would be struck down by the disease, and their hope of survival would become even slimmer.
Xiao Yi racked his brains to think of a countermeasure. He knew that they must find a way to break through the predicament, otherwise only destruction would await them.
Xiao Yi looked at the seriously ill people in the shelter and knew that he could no longer sit and wait for death. He took a deep breath and resolutely decided to take the risk and go out.
He put on a tattered raincoat and stepped into the still pouring downpour. The world outside was in chaos, the wind was howling, and the rain was lashing him like a whip.
Each step was extremely difficult as he moved forward in the mud, one foot deep and one foot shallow. The road was littered with debris and branches washed down by the rain, and if he was not careful, he might fall and get injured.
He carefully avoided those dangerous places, but danger kept coming to him. Suddenly, a torrent of water rushed over and almost washed him away. He desperately grabbed a stone nearby to stabilize his body.
Xiao Yi panted and continued to move forward with difficulty. He didn't know whether he could find medicine to cure the disease, nor did he know how many dangers he would encounter, but he had only one belief in his heart, that is, he must save those who were sick.
In this torrential rain, he was like a lone boat, struggling to sail in the turbulent sea, and could be swallowed up at any time. But he did not retreat, gritted his teeth and walked forward step by step, looking for that glimmer of hope.
When he arrived at a remote location, he suddenly discovered that something was wrong with the hovercraft's power system. Upon closer inspection, he discovered that the hovercraft had been maliciously sabotaged, with some key parts missing. It was obvious that someone had done this deliberately to prevent him from finding the medicine. Xiao Yi's heart suddenly surged with anger, but he quickly calmed down and thought about how to deal with it.
At this moment, a group of robbers appeared in his sight. They had fierce looks on their faces, holding various weapons, and slowly approached the hovercraft with bad intentions. Xiao Yi's heart tightened, but he did not panic.
He quickly observed the surrounding environment and the situation of the bandit gang, his mind working rapidly. He saw some huge rocks not far away, and an idea came to him. Xiao Yi deliberately said loudly: "Don't come over, I have contacted my companions, and they will come to support me soon!" After hearing this, the bandits hesitated for a moment, but continued to approach.
Xiao Yi took the opportunity to quickly run behind the rocks, picked up some rocks and hid them on his body. When the bandits approached the hovercraft, Xiao Yi suddenly rushed out and threw rocks at the bandits. The rocks hit the bandits, catching them off guard and causing them to lose their composure.
