Xiao Yi frowned, trying to concentrate, trying to catch the slightest bit of strangeness. For some reason, his heartbeat began to speed up, and an inexplicable tension filled his heart. He listened carefully to every subtle sound in the woods, observing every subtle movement. Suddenly, he seemed to notice something, as if there was an imperceptible breath of danger quietly surging in the air. It was a crisis hidden under the calm, although it was not clear yet, but it made Xiao Yi's nerves tense up instantly. His eyes became sharp, and his body unconsciously took a defensive posture. He knew that under this seemingly calm appearance, there might be huge dangers lurking, and he had to stay awake to deal with situations that might arise at any time.
By midnight, the woods were so quiet that only the steady breathing of the people could be heard. Moonlight filtered through the gaps in the leaves, casting patches of light and shadow on the ground.
Their relaxed sleeping positions gradually became odd, their bodies twisting unnaturally. Their eyelids fluttered slightly, their gazes becoming hollow and lost, as if they had lost focus. Some began to murmur, a low, murmurous sound that didn't seem to originate from their own throats.
It was as if their consciousness was being slowly ripped away by an invisible hand, as if they were drawn into a dark vortex, unable to escape. Some people waved their arms unconsciously, as if battling an invisible enemy; others slowly sat up from where they lay, their movements extremely stiff, like puppets being manipulated.
Their expressions gradually grew dull, losing their original liveliness and energy. The air around them seemed to grow heavy, filled with an eerie aura. The entire forest fell into an eerie silence and chaos, and everyone remained unconsciously immersed in this terrifying state of gradual loss of consciousness, as if shrouded and corroded by some evil force.
In the quiet of the night, the person with the wood-type ability, Lin Yue, was also asleep, but a subtle vibration from the plants gradually awakened her consciousness.
At first, Lin Yue simply felt something was amiss, as if the plants around her were conveying some kind of message. Her brow furrowed slightly as she struggled to shake herself from her hazy state. When she slowly opened her eyes and saw the strange expressions of the people around her, a wave of panic suddenly surged in her.
Her heartbeat began to accelerate, and beads of sweat appeared on her forehead. She realized that something was wrong and she had to wake everyone up immediately. Lin Yue first gently nudged the person closest to her and called his name softly, her voice filled with a hint of urgency and nervousness: "Wake up, wake up quickly!" But the man didn't respond, still in that strange state.
Lin Yue gritted her teeth, increased the pressure, and raised her voice. "Wake up! Something's wrong!" She cried, nervously observing the movements around her. Her eyes were filled with anxiety and worry, and she kept shaking the people around her, trying to quickly awaken them from this terrifying state. Her breathing became rapid, and sweat beaded on her forehead. In this quiet and eerie forest, she struggled to break the eerie silence, to regain consciousness and face this unknown crisis together.
The woods shrouded in darkness looked particularly eerie. At the call of Lin Yue, the wood-type ability user, those people with high-level abilities suddenly opened their eyes. There was still a trace of confusion in their eyes, but it was soon replaced by alertness.
They looked around and found that everyone else was still unconscious, as if in a deep coma. Their faces were expressionless, but their bodies began to move strangely, as if being pulled by invisible strings.
They stood up one after another mechanically and staggered in one direction. The faces of the few awake people changed drastically, as they realized that these sleepy people were heading towards the swamp not far away.
"Stop them!" someone shouted.
However, when they tried to catch those who had lost consciousness, they found that they could not pull them at all. Those people's bodies seemed to have tremendous strength, and they still moved forward towards the swamp firmly.
"Not good!" Lin Yue exclaimed.
They watched helplessly as those people stepped into the swamp step by step, first their feet, then their calves, and thighs, and the speed increased. The swamp was like a greedy monster, swallowing the bodies of these sleepers bit by bit.
Those people struggled in the swamp, but their movements were extremely stiff, completely unlike normal reactions. Their arms waved wildly, but they could not change their fate of being swallowed by the swamp.
"What should we do? What should we do?" someone shouted anxiously, but faced with this strange and terrifying scene, they were helpless for a moment. They could only watch their companions sink deeper and deeper into the swamp until they completely disappeared, leaving only a string of heart-pounding bubbles emerging from the surface of the swamp.
Xiao Yi, Lin Yue and others watched their companions jump into the swamp unconsciously, and their hearts were suddenly filled with great panic.
Xiao Yi's eyes widened, his face full of disbelief and horror. His breathing became rapid and disordered, his body trembled unconsciously, his hands clenched into fists, his nails dug deep into his palms, as if this could make him calm down a little.
Lin Yue's face was as pale as paper, and her lips were trembling slightly. Her eyes were filled with helplessness and fear, her mind was in a mess, and she had no idea what to do.
The others also had expressions of horror on their faces. Some kept muttering to themselves, while others looked around in fear, as if the source of the drowsiness would emerge from a corner at any time.
