The woman on the right was holding two daggers, her figure as nimble as a swallow. Under Xiao Yi's cover, she quickly shuttled between the zombies, stabbing the zombies' weaknesses with her daggers accurately.
The people in the rear were responsible for defense. They lined up closely and formed a line of defense with spears to prevent the zombies from attacking from behind.
Xiao Yi's eyes were enough for everyone to understand. When he suddenly retreated, his companions immediately moved forward to fill the gap he left and continue attacking the zombies.
When someone is injured, the people nearby will lend a helping hand without hesitation and pull them back to the center of the team, while others will fight even harder to ensure that the defense line is not breached.
Their breathing was rapid, their hearts pounding, but their coordination was flawless. Every attack, every defense, was filled with trust and tacit understanding.
Xiao Yi shouted slogans loudly to cheer everyone up, and everyone responded to his shouts, their voices full of courage and determination. With their full cooperation, the zombie encirclement was gradually torn open, and the hope of victory gradually ignited in their struggle.
The zombies' originally slow movements suddenly became rapid and frantic. Their eyes were no longer blank and empty, but filled with an extreme madness. Their blood-red eyeballs seemed to be bulging from their sockets, filled with ferocity and brutality.
They opened their bloody mouths, revealing jagged fangs stained with black blood, and let out low and hoarse roars from their throats. The sound seemed to come from the depths of hell, filled with endless resentment and murderous intent.
The zombies' bodies twisted, their limbs flailing in bizarre poses, their joints crackling as if ready to break. Their fingers curved into hooks, their nails sharp as knives, scratching at the air, as if trying to grab hold of anything living and tear it apart.
Some zombies' scalps had fallen off, revealing pale skulls still clinging to wisps of flesh, which trembled as they swayed frantically. Their skin was a bluish-gray, with blood vessels and veins bulging out, as if ready to burst at any moment.
The frenzied zombies crowded and pushed each other, rushing towards their target regardless of everything. Their steps became chaotic, yet incredibly fast, like a surging tide, unstoppable.
There is no longer any trace of humanity in them, only pure madness and desire for destruction, which is chilling.
The fierce battle finally came to an end. Xiao Yi stood like a statue in the midst of the mess, his body trembling slightly. Every muscle in his body groaned in pain, as if telling of the brutality of the battle.
Sweat had already soaked his clothes, clinging to his back. The chill made him shiver. His hands drooped limply at his sides, the weapon in his hands weighing a thousand pounds, unable to hold on any longer. It dropped to the ground with a clang.
Xiao Yi gasped for breath, each breath like pulling an old bellows, a fishy-sweet taste rising in his throat. His eyes were bloodshot, revealing deep fatigue and endless vicissitudes of life.
Recalling the thrilling battle just now, countless hideous zombie faces flashed before his eyes, and the shrill roars seemed to still echo in his ears. His body was covered with scars, new wounds stacked on top of old ones, and each wound was burning with pain, as if countless ants were gnawing at his skin.
However, despite being exhausted physically and mentally, a spark of hope ignited in Xiao Yi's heart. He looked at the zombies lying at his feet. Those existences that once made him feel despair and fear have now become witnesses of their victory.
He thought of the moments when he and his companions worked closely together and supported each other in battle. The power of unity made him firmly believe that they had the ability to survive in this cruel world.
Xiao Yi raised his head, looking at the dawn light gradually emerging in the sky, and the corners of his mouth curled up slightly. Although this battle had cost him a huge price, it also gave him hope for survival. He knew that the road ahead was still full of difficulties and obstacles, but as long as they did not give up, they would be able to rebuild their homes in this ruin and embrace a new life.
Xiao Yi dragged his exhausted body and slowly walked into the shelter that had been baptized by battle and looked dilapidated. His eyes revealed firmness and determination. Although he was exhausted physically and mentally, he knew that in order to survive, he had to restore order here as soon as possible.
He started by cleaning up the piles of debris. The tables and chairs that had been overturned in the battle, as well as the broken bottles and jars, were scattered all over the floor in a disorderly manner. Xiao Yi bent down and picked up the items one by one, placing the ones that could still be used neatly aside and gathering the unusable ones to be thrown away.
Then, he began to repair the damaged wall. Finding wood boards and nails, Xiao Yi worked intently, the sound of each nail hitting echoing in the silent sanctuary. His forehead was covered with sweat again, sliding down his cheeks and dripping onto the ground, but he didn't bother to wipe it off.
Then he made the bed, carefully removing the blood-stained sheets and replacing them with clean spare sheets. He folded the quilt neatly, as if creating a warm harbor for his tired soul.
Xiao Yi carefully checked every corner of the shelter to make sure there were no missed zombies or potential dangers. He rearranged the fortifications and placed the weapons where they could be easily reached.
In the process of tidying up, Xiao Yi did not forget to clean the floor and remove the blood and dirt left by the battle. He mopped the floor over and over again until the floor was clean and tidy again.
