Chapter 732 New Hope 7

Forgetting the danger, the relaxed and carefree days transported Xiao Yi back to a time before the apocalypse. Sometimes, he even forgot he was in a base adrift amidst a devastating flood. On those warm, sunny afternoons, Xiao Yi lay on the lawn, eyes half closed, feeling the gentle breeze caress his cheeks, bringing a touch of coolness. The crisp chirping of birds echoed in his ears, like a joyful song. Under the blue sky, white clouds, and lush green grass, everything was so peaceful and beautiful that his thoughts drifted back to a time without disaster or crisis. He would recall those ordinary, yet happy days before the apocalypse: walking the bustling streets, taking in the hustle and bustle of the city; chatting with friends in coffee shops, sharing joys and sorrows; and strolling in the park on weekends, admiring the beautiful scenery and savoring the sense of relaxation and freedom. Whenever he immersed himself in these beautiful memories, Xiao Yi's body and mind were so relaxed that he would temporarily ignore his surroundings. He forgot that the base under his feet was floating on a super flood, forgot the strong winds and huge waves that could hit at any time, forgot the scarcity of resources and the difficulty of survival. Sometimes, when playing games and laughing with his friends, he would be completely immersed in the joy of the moment, with a carefree smile on his face. At that moment, he was no longer the guardian who was always alert to the crisis, but just an ordinary person enjoying simple happiness. It was not until night fell, looking at the raging flood in the darkness in the distance, listening to the sound of waves hitting the edge of the base, that Xiao Yi would wake up from his dream and realize the reality he was in. But even so, those brief times of forgetting the crisis became the most precious treasure deep in his heart, giving him the strength to face the challenges of the future.

The surroundings were no longer filled with urgency and danger, but instead filled with the breath of life. Sunlight gently shone across every corner of the base, no longer as glaring and scorching as it had been in the early days of the apocalypse. A gentle breeze brought fresh air, free of the unsettling dust and odors. People on the streets were no longer hurried or fearful. Children played and laughed, clutching homemade toys, their laughter ringing and melodious, echoing throughout the base. Their faces were filled with innocent smiles, free from the fear of an unknown disaster. Between the houses, laundry hung out to dry, its colors vibrant and fluttering in the breeze. Housewives sorted groceries by the doorways, chatting about family matters, occasionally erupting in laughter over an amusing topic. In the garden, a variety of flowers clashed in vibrant colors. While not the rare varieties seen before the apocalypse, they still burst into vibrant colors. Some carefully pruned the branches, others watered and fertilized, each action filled with a love of life. The market was bustling with activity. The stalls were filled with a variety of goods: fresh vegetables, homemade handicrafts, and old finds salvaged from the ruins. The sounds of bargaining echoed endlessly, no longer a desperate scramble for the bare necessities of life, but rather a joyful exchange of ideas. In a corner, elderly people gathered together, playing chess, drinking tea, and recounting stories of the past. Their faces bore the marks of time, yet their eyes revealed a peace and contentment. The walls of the base were no longer covered in warnings and defensive slogans, but now with children's graffiti and residents' visions of a better future. The aroma of food wafted from the kitchen, no longer simply prepared fare, but filled with the flavors of home. Families gathered around the table, enjoying a warm meal, filled with laughter and joy. In this environment, every corner was filled with the details and warmth of life, no longer shrouded in urgency and danger, but filled with hope and vitality.

"It seems like everything isn't so bad anymore," he said to himself with a smile. Standing high up in the base, Xiao Yi surveyed the vibrant scene before him, a gentle breeze ruffling the hem of his clothes. A smile of relief and warmth spread across his face, a smile as bright and moving as a flower blooming in spring. He recalled the despairing scenes of the past, the endless darkness, fear, and chaos, as if they were still before his eyes. Back then, every tomorrow was filled with uncertainty and danger, and every breath was tinged with fear for survival. Yet now, watching the busy figures in the garden, listening to the bustling clamor from the market, and feeling the breath of life on the breeze, his heart was filled with emotion. He narrowed his eyes slightly, a look of determination and contentment in his gaze. "It seems like everything isn't so bad anymore," he whispered, a subtle tremor in his voice, a relief from past hardships and a cherishing of the present. He remembered the carefree laughter of children, a sound like the most beautiful melody in the world, dispelling the gloom that had once lingered in his heart. He recalled the cordial greetings and mutual assistance among neighbors. Those warm moments made him understand that in this difficult world, the friendship between people can still be so deep. He took a deep breath, and the fragrance of flowers and food in the air made him feel extremely intoxicated. "Really, everything is getting better slowly." He said to himself again, his smile became brighter, and a glimmer of hope flashed in his eyes. Xiao Yi knew that there might be challenges and difficulties in the future, but at this moment, he was willing to believe that as long as people have hope in their hearts and work hard to live, there is nothing that cannot be overcome. With this belief, he turned around and devoted himself to this beautiful life, to greet every new tomorrow.
