Chapter 759 Energy Destroyed

"No matter what, we must give it a try!" These words, filled with determination, echoed across the empty wilderness, like a declaration of defiance against fate. Their eyes burned with a fire of determination, a final burst of courage ignited by the desperate desire to survive. Each face was tense, revealing an unwavering resolve. Xiao Yi took a deep breath and took the lead. His steps were heavy and powerful, each step hitting the solid ground and kicking up a small cloud of dust. The team members behind him followed closely, their breathing rapid yet synchronized, as if they were composing a melody of resistance against fate. The howling wind tried to hinder their advance, but they stood tall and unflinching. The sun scorched the earth mercilessly, and sweat streamed down their foreheads, soaking their clothes. No one wiped the sweat away, their eyes fixed on the unknown road ahead. The path beneath them was rugged and uneven, littered with sharp stones and hidden traps. Someone stumbled, scraping their knee and bleeding, but they gritted their teeth, quickly stood up, and continued on. Each stumble only strengthened their resolve to move forward. Their packs weighed heavy, their shoulders aching, but none complained, none gave up. They knew this was their last chance, their only hope for survival. The scenery along the way was desolate and dead, without a trace of life. But their hearts clung to a vision of a better future, a hope for the future. Even at the slightest glimmer of hope, they grasped with all their might. The group drifted further and further apart on the arduous journey, their figures seemingly so insignificant against the vast expanse of the world, yet so tenacious. With their last remaining courage, they marched forward, step by step, resolute and determined, toward the unknown. No matter what hardships and obstacles lay ahead, they could not stop their advance.

The devastation wrought by the thunderstorm was beyond imagination. The base's energy supply system was severely damaged. Across the sky, streaks of lightning slashed like raging silver snakes, followed by deafening thunder that threatened to tear the world apart. The base seemed incredibly vulnerable to this terrifying force of nature. When the storm passed, the people were horrified to discover that the energy supply system had suffered a devastating blow. Massive transformers had been struck by lightning, their casings crackling and their internal wiring charred and blackened, emitting a pungent odor. The cables connecting various areas sparked and crackled at the fractures, as if torn by a beast. The intelligent panel controlling energy distribution instantly shorted out, shattering the screen, buttons failing, and the once orderly blinking indicators now darkened. The entire control panel seemed reduced to a lifeless piece of scrap metal. The core equipment responsible for energy conversion was also damaged. The powerful current ripped through delicate components, and critical components even melted, releasing pools of liquid metal. The cooling system completely failed, and the internal temperature of the equipment soared, sending billowing clouds of smoke. The backup power system also fell into chaos. The emergency battery pack failed after being over-discharged, unable to provide even the most basic power support. The entire base fell into darkness. The once bright lights went out one by one, leaving only the faint indicator light in the emergency corridor, flickering lonely in the darkness. The collapse of the energy supply system plunged various facilities in the base into a dead silence. The ventilation equipment stopped working, and the air became turbid and stuffy; the water supply system lost power, and no water flowed from the faucet; the communication equipment was disconnected, and contact with the outside world was completely severed. The base, once full of vitality and order, now seemed to have become an isolated island forgotten by the world, sinking into darkness and despair.

The function that once stabilized the temperature was lost, and everyone was instantly plunged into a state of thermal chaos. The once comfortable and pleasant environment suddenly became extremely harsh. Cold and scorching heat alternated with each other, assaulting everyone in a erratic cycle. Sometimes, icy air currents darted through every corner like ghosts, chilling the bones, as if penetrating the very bone. People bundled up tightly, but still couldn't block the pervasive chill. Their teeth chattered, their bodies trembled uncontrollably, their limbs grew numb, and their movements slowed. Then, the scorching heat surged in like a ferocious beast, the air ignited, burning their airways. Sweat poured out, instantly soaking their clothes, but quickly evaporated in the heat, leaving only a layer of white salt stains. The stifling heat felt suffocating, as if an invisible hand were tightening around their throats, making every breath an unbearable struggle. The fluctuating temperature in the room left everyone feeling disoriented. Sleepers were jolted awake by the sudden chill or jolted from their daze by the scorching heat, their restful sleep thwarted. Children cried incessantly from discomfort, while adults paced anxiously, searching for a glimmer of relief. Workspaces were not spared either, with the high temperatures causing machinery to overheat, leading to frequent malfunctions and a sharp drop in productivity. The cold also caused the performance of precision instruments to destabilize, resulting in data distortions and chaos. The once orderly rhythm was completely disrupted, leaving people frantically and exhausted in the face of this uncontrolled temperature. Public areas were in even greater chaos, with people huddled together to escape the chill or the heat, leading to constant arguments and conflicts. The former harmony and tranquility were gone, replaced by endless complaints and panic. Pain and helplessness were written across everyone's face, uncertain when this situation would end or how much longer they could endure the uncontrolled heat.

"What can we do? Without the right temperature, survival is even harder." Everyone was filled with worry. These helpless words echoed through the crowd, like a boulder dropped into a calm lake, instantly stirring ripples of worry. Anxiety and sorrow filled everyone's faces, their eyes revealing a deep sense of helplessness. An elderly man, his brow furrowed, his wrinkled face etched with sorrow. His lips trembled as he spoke, "No matter how difficult it was before, at least there was a reassuring temperature. Now this..." He shook his head helplessly and sighed deeply. A young couple tightly hugged their young child, whose face was red from the cold. Their eyes were filled with worry. The wife's voice was filled with tears, "How can a child so young withstand such torture? What will happen in the future?" The husband gritted his teeth, clenched his fists, unsure of how to respond. The workers gathered together, talking in a flurry. "The temperature's out of control, and we can't even work properly. When will this end?" "Yeah, if this continues, how can we complete our mission and ensure everyone's well-being?" Their voices were filled with confusion and fear for the future. Some women sat together, faces filled with worry. "Without the right temperature, the food won't keep for long, and everyone's starving." "Even a good night's sleep is a luxury. We're in constant fear every day." They exchanged words, each like a knife, piercing their hearts. An air of despair permeated the crowd, each one fraught with worry, yet unable to find a solution. Those sorrowful faces and helpless eyes seemed to silently accuse fate of injustice, yet plead desperately for a chance to escape the existential crisis brought on by the out-of-control temperature. Energy constraints were a daunting reality at this base. To maintain basic operations, an extremely stringent energy supply strategy had to be implemented, reducing energy use to the most basic level. The abundant energy supply of the past has become a luxury, and every kilowatt-hour and every joule of energy must be carefully calculated. The lighting system has been dimmed to its lowest brightness, barely enough to ensure basic walking safety, no longer as bright and brilliant as it once was. The heating system can only maintain a barely sufficient level to keep people warm, barely enough to withstand the cold, but unable to provide comfortable warmth. Large-scale production equipment has been forced to shut down for long periods, and is only allowed to operate briefly during critical moments when the survival of the base is at stake. The energy required for scientific research experiments has been drastically reduced, and many projects that once held the potential for breakthroughs have been temporarily shelved. The cafeteria's cooking equipment has also been restricted, and can only produce simple meals to meet people's basic energy needs. Even the use of communication equipment is strictly controlled to conserve precious energy. This energy restriction has placed immense pressure on everyone at the base, making every bit of energy extremely precious. However, to ensure the continued operation of the base, everyone silently endures and works together to overcome this difficult situation.
