Chapter 767: A Hundred-foot Pole

"I must make it through!" he prayed repeatedly in his heart. Xiao Yi's eyes were closed, his brow furrowed, his lips trembling slightly as he silently repeated this prayer. Beautiful images kept flowing through his mind: the smiling faces of his family, a warm home, a peaceful life. He knew that all of this depended on surviving the disaster before him. Every heartbeat, every crash of the waves, made his prayers more urgent. "I must make it through!" He seemed to be expressing his deepest desires to a spirit somewhere beyond the heavens, his voice filled with endless hope and unwavering faith. His hands were clenched into fists, his nails digging deep into his palms, yet he felt no pain. Sweat streamed from his forehead, ran down his cheeks, and dripped onto the floor of the survival chamber, but he was oblivious. In this cramped space, Xiao Yi's soul seemed to break free from the constraints of his body, crying out into the unknown void. His heart was filled with fear and anxiety, but this prayer was like a ray of light in the darkness, giving him the strength to persevere. "I must hold on!" He repeated it over and over again, the voice growing stronger and stronger in his heart, as if it had turned into an indestructible barrier, resisting the fear and despair of the outside world.

The force of the tsunami caused the survival capsule to shake violently like a leaf in a gust of wind. The capsule first tilted violently to the left, sending Xiao Yi's body careening uncontrollably into the sidewall. A wave of excruciating pain shot through his body. Before he could recover, the capsule lurched rightward again, slamming his head hard against the solid metal. Stars shot through his vision. The entire capsule felt as if tossed about by an invisible giant, sometimes tossed high, sometimes plummeting. Each jolt carried a tremendous momentum, causing his internal organs to shift. Objects within the capsule flew everywhere, with water cups, canned food, and other items thrashing around in the cramped space. Xiao Yi struggled to steady himself, but to no avail. As the shaking intensified, the capsule emitted a heart-wrenching creaking sound, as if it would fall apart at any moment. Xiao Yi's heart leaped into his throat, unsure how much longer the fragile capsule could withstand such torture. Every shake was like a life-or-death test. Xiao Yi felt as if he were in a crazy amusement park ride, but this time there was no joy, only endless fear and uncertainty. His face was as pale as paper, his eyes filled with despair and helplessness, but his instinct for survival made him curl up tightly in the corner, praying that this nightmarish shaking would stop as soon as possible.

Xiao Yi clutched the handle tightly, his body swaying against the bulkhead. His knuckles turned white from the exertion, and he gripped the handle tightly, clinging to it like it was his last straw. Veins bulged in his arms, his muscles tensed to the bone. With each lurch, his body, like a puppet out of control, was mercilessly flung against the bulkhead. At the moment of impact, he could feel the sharp pain of bone colliding with solid metal, the pain radiating through his body like an electric current, but he dared not let up even a little. His shoulders slammed against the bulkhead again and again, his clothes tattered from the friction, his skin red and bruised. However, Xiao Yi seemed to have lost his sense of pain, with only one thought in his mind: I must not let go! His legs kicked erratically, trying to find a foothold, but it was all in vain. His entire body, driven by inertia, swayed side to side and up and down without any rhythm. Xiao Yi's face was filled with pain and determination, and a mixture of sweat and tears blurred his vision. He was gasping for breath, and kept muttering, "Hold on, hold on..." Every collision made him feel that he was one step closer to death, but the desire to survive made him grit his teeth. Even though his body was covered in wounds, he still held on to the life-saving handle tightly, struggling to hold on in the violent shaking.

"This is a nightmare!" Pain and terror mingled, but he knew he couldn't give up now. Xiao Yi's voice, trembling with despair, squeaked through his parched lips. Each word seemed to exhaust all his strength, his hoarse voice sounding especially miserable in the cramped, swaying survival chamber. The pain surged through his body like a tide, each impact burning like a raging fire, like countless steel needles piercing deep. He felt as if his bones were crumbling, his muscles were ripping apart, and the pain, piercing deep into his bones, nearly brought him to a state of unconsciousness. Fear, like a giant, dark hand, gripped his heart, making it nearly impossible to breathe. The potential tragic outcomes flashed before his eyes: drowning, the survival chamber rupturing, his life extinguished... These horrific images lingered in his mind, pushing him to the brink of collapse. Yet, amidst this excruciating pain and terror, a flicker of reason flickered within him. He knew that giving up would mean certain death; only perseverance offered a glimmer of hope. This belief was like a beacon in the darkness. Although weak, it gave him the courage to continue fighting. He clenched his teeth, his gums bleeding, and the sweet and fishy taste filled his mouth. His eyes revealed determination. Even though his body was riddled with wounds and his heart was tortured, he would do his best to grasp this last hope. "I can't give up, I absolutely can't!" Xiao Yi shouted in his heart over and over again, using this belief to support himself and struggle in this nightmare-like predicament.

With his life uncertain and the world outside in chaos, Xiao Yi wondered if he could survive this catastrophe. He peered through the narrow window of the survival chamber, only to see endless darkness and surging waves. The water roared like a ferocious beast, pounding against the chamber, each impact making his heart tremble. Xiao Yi's thoughts were in turmoil, flooding back with beautiful memories of the past. The warm smiles of his family, the laughter of his friends, those once ordinary yet precious daily moments now seemed so far away. He wondered if his loved ones were safe, or if the world could ever return to its former tranquility. Perhaps, when this was over, everything he knew would be gone. Every time the survival chamber was tossed high by the waves and then plummeted back down, he felt a step closer to death. Helplessness and despair followed him everywhere, as if an invisible hand were tightening around his throat. He tried to calm himself, considering possible ways to survive, but all his thoughts seemed futile in the face of the unbridled forces of nature. Xiao Yi didn't know what was waiting for him in the next moment, the dawn of hope or complete darkness. He could only pray silently in this small space, praying that fate would give him a chance to live.
