They tried to judge based on the direction of the wind or water flow, but the airflow in the forest was turbulent and the water flow was hidden under the thick vegetation, making it difficult to predict. Xiao Yi took out the simple compass he carried with him, but found that the pointer was spinning randomly in this mysterious forest and had completely lost its function. The team members began to become
Restless and anxious, they looked around, their eyes filled with confusion and panic. They kept walking, searching, but every attempt ended in failure. It was as if this forest held a mysterious power, deliberately trapping them, leaving them wandering in endless confusion. As time passed, their strength dwindled, and the fear of being lost followed them everywhere, constantly eroding their will and confidence.
To prevent getting lost, Xiao Yi and his team had meticulously marked the tree trunks they passed. Those knife-carved marks had been striking and clear when first made. But now, as they eagerly searched for these markings to guide them, they were horrified to discover they had vanished without a trace. It was as if an invisible hand had quietly erased them, leaving them no hope. Xiao Yi frantically pulled out the compass, which he had always considered a lifeline, but now it was going mad, its needle spinning wildly and erratically, completely losing its sense of direction. The once stable needle now seemed to be controlled by a mysterious force, leaping and swaying wildly. The team gathered around, staring intently at the out-of-control compass, their last shred of hope shattered. Panic spread rapidly through the crowd, despair and helplessness written across everyone's face. "What the hell is going on?" someone couldn't help but shout, their voice filled with fear and confusion. "I don't know. This forest is so strange!" another person replied in a trembling voice. They looked around at the identical trees and grass, feeling as if they were trapped in an endless maze, with no way out. The disappearing signs and the out-of-control compass, like a nightmare, tightly strangled their hope for survival.
Xiao Yi took a deep breath, trying to calm his racing heart. His brow furrowed, his gaze fixed with determination and focus. In this desperate predicament, he knew he had to remain calm, or everyone would be doomed. He closed his eyes and tried to recall his route and every decision he had made, searching the depths of his memory for a clue. However, the chaotic path and familiar images tangled in his mind, leaving him feeling dizzy. He then raised his head, gazing at the sky, dimly obscured by leaves, trying to locate the sun's position. He squinted, straining to catch the slightest ray of light through the layers of branches. However, the dense canopy fragmented the sunlight, making it impossible to determine its exact direction. He shifted constantly, moving from tree to tree, changing his angle again and again, but each attempt ended in disappointment. Sweat streamed down his forehead, blurring his vision, but he didn't bother to wipe it away, still searching stubbornly for the seemingly impossible direction. As time ticked by, Xiao Yi's heart sank. His efforts seemed to fall on deaf ears, all seemingly futile. His teammates cast anxious glances at him, but he couldn't offer a reassuring answer. A deep sense of powerlessness, like a hammer, hammered down upon his heart. Throughout the narrow, long line, panic spread like an invisible plague. Faces twisted, eyes filled with fear and anxiety. What started as a mild commotion quickly erupted into chaos. Some began to complain loudly, their voices shrill and piercing, "What the hell is going on? Why has it turned out like this?" Their words were laced with anger and helplessness. They waved their arms, as if trying to vent their frustration and fear. Others, on the other hand, sank into a deep despair. Their eyes were empty, and they stood frozen in place, as if their souls had left their bodies. Tears welled up in their eyes, but they fought to hold them back, their helpless expressions heartbreaking. The entire team seemed to have lost the beacon of hope, shrouded in the fear of darkness, and not knowing where to go.
Xiao Yi stood in the center of the crowd, his resounding voice piercing the chaos and noise. "Everyone, listen!" he shouted, the veins on his forehead bulging slightly, revealing his resolve and strength. "We can't be defeated like this, we can't give up!" His determined gaze swept across each face, filled with encouragement and hope. "We are one. As long as we remain united, there is nothing we can't overcome!" His voice, like a bell, resonated through the air. "Difficulties are only temporary. We must believe in ourselves and each other! Don't be consumed by fear and despair. We will find a way out!" Xiao Yi waved his powerful arms, as if to pass on the flame of hope to everyone. "As long as we work together, nothing can stop us!" His voice grew more passionate, full of infectious energy. Encouraged by his words, everyone gradually calmed down, and a glimmer of hope rekindled in their eyes.
In this moment of confusion, a mysterious sound suddenly echoed through the forest. It seemed to drift from afar, almost imperceptible, like a wisp of smoke lingering slowly in the air. At first, it was a faint, subtle sound, like the gentle hum of a breeze through an ancient tree hollow, or the whisper of fallen leaves on the ground. But as time passed, the sound grew clearer. It rose and fell, slow and fast, sometimes like the gentle gurgling of water over rounded pebbles, sometimes like the rumbling of thunder in the distant sky. The sound seemed to hold an indescribable magic, compelling a desire to trace its source. At times, it sounded like an ancient ballad, carrying the vicissitudes of time and untold stories; at other times, it was like the whispers of a mythical creature, conveying messages from another world. This sound echoed through the silent forest, adding to the surrounding atmosphere an eerie and mysterious presence, evoking both a chilling feeling and a sense of curiosity.
