Chapter 807: Fighting Together 14

Amidst this apocalyptic scene, the zombies underwent a startling transformation. Some clutched simple yet menacing weapons: thick branches scavenged from the ruins, transformed into sharp, wieldable weapons. The branches were sharpened at one end, seemingly capable of piercing their prey with ease. Others held sharp fragments of metal, perhaps ripped from abandoned cars or broken machinery. These shards gleamed coldly in the sunlight, their edges razor-sharp; a single strike could be disastrous. Other zombies, however, proved even more intelligent, having somehow found heavy armor and strapped it onto their bodies. Some were rusted, others bore the scars of battle. They used crude ropes or tattered strips of cloth to secure the armor to key areas of their bodies, such as their chests, heads, and arms. It was as if they had sensed the danger and understood self-preservation, no longer relying solely on instinct to charge forward. Although these armored zombies moved somewhat slowly, the armor gave them an inexplicable sense of security and intimidation. As they approached with heavy steps, the armor collided with each other, making a dull sound, like the tolling of death.

As these new zombies approached, Xiao Yi discovered a clear division of labor. At the front of the group was a group of zombies armed with thick branches. They brandished their weapons and charged forward frantically, attempting to break through the defensive line. The branches cut through the air in sharp arcs, rustling with the wind as if they were about to shatter anything in their path. Following closely behind were zombies armed with sharp metal fragments. Their movements were even more agile, weaving between the ranks, searching for gaps in the defenses. Once they found their target, they attacked with lightning speed. The metal fragments in their hands were like deadly daggers, flashing with a chilling gleam that sent shivers down their spines. On either side of the group were zombies clad in heavy iron armor. They moved slowly but steadily, like a solid fortress, guarding the group's flanks and preventing any sneak attacks. Their armor reflected a glaring light in the sunlight, creating an invisible sense of oppression. In the rear, there is a group of seemingly insignificant zombies, but they play a vital role. Some of them are observing the surrounding situation and conveying information to their companions through low roars; others are carrying some simple "supplies", as if preparing for subsequent battles. When they launch an attack, the zombies in the front row surge in like a tide, and the zombies in the back constantly push their companions in the front, giving them strength and support. The entire team works in unison, and every action seems to have been carefully planned and rehearsed. They are no longer monsters without rules, but a well-trained and targeted terrorist army. Xiao Yi's heartbeat accelerated rapidly, and cold sweat broke out on his forehead. He knew that this would be an unprecedented fierce battle.

Under this apocalyptic haze, the zombies surged toward the base like a surging tide. Some charged frantically, their eyes bloodshot and their lips emitting deep, ferocious roars. Their steps were unsteady, yet they carried a reckless determination. Their bodies were twisted and deformed, some missing limbs, but this did not slow their speed or resolve. Like hungry wolves pouncing on their prey, they charged toward the base's defenses, frantically clawing and biting at the obstacles with their razor-sharp claws and pointed teeth. Other zombies, however, remained behind to provide cover, clutching homemade incendiary bombs and rocks. These incendiary bombs were made from simple bottles filled with flammable liquid and stuffed with rags. Once ignited, they became deadly weapons. They hurled them with all their might toward the base, tracing parabolic arcs through the air, blazing like flames, and instantly igniting a sea of fire upon landing. Some zombies picked up rocks from the ground and threw them at the base with all their might. The rocks rained down like raindrops, making a crackling sound. A glint of cunning and sinister intent lingered in the eyes of these zombies. They cleverly exploited the terrain and the cover of the charging zombies, constantly adjusting the angle and force of their throws, striving to inflict maximum damage and disruption. The entire swarm's coordinated attacks created a formidable pressure, leaving the base's defenses vulnerable.

The charging zombies no longer charged blindly without strategy, but instead displayed unexpected cunning and intelligence. Their once chaotic eyes now gleamed with a shrewd glint. Before approaching the base's defenses, these zombies slowed down, swaying from side to side, carefully observing the layout. Their keen and piercing eyes missed no small flaws. Some zombies would notice a section of the defense line with fewer guards or less sophisticated fortifications and would gather in that direction. When they found a weak spot, they signaled their allies with a deep roar. Instantly, a swarm of zombies would surge towards that direction like a torrent. They no longer blindly huddled together, but instead dispersed in an orderly manner, attempting to breach the defenses from different angles. Some zombies would use their companions' bodies as cover to stealthily approach weak points, while others would deliberately create chaos to draw the guards' attention and create opportunities for the others. Their movements became more agile, sometimes sprinting rapidly, sometimes pausing suddenly to evade the guards' attacks. As they sought weak spots, the zombies coordinated with one another. One zombie would draw the guards' fire, while another took advantage of the opportunity to swerve from the side. As if they had an invisible tacit understanding, each movement imbued with strategy and calculation, posing an unprecedented challenge to the base's defenses.

In this brutal battle, the zombies' coordination was terrifying. Some of the more agile zombies were the first to charge towards the base's defenses. Their claws bared, their mouths emitting deafening roars, frantically drawing the guards' fire. These zombies faced the hail of bullets fearlessly, their bodies repeatedly struck, yet they bravely pressed forward, withstanding wave after wave of attack with their bodies. Meanwhile, another group of stronger zombies, taking advantage of the guards' distraction, quietly approached from the flank. They hunched their bodies, their steps light and swift, making minimal noise, like hunters lurking in the darkness. As they approached the defenses, these powerful zombies suddenly unleashed a tremendous burst of strength. They used their massive arms to forcibly push aside obstacles, or used their immense momentum to break through the defenses. Some even grasped the edge of the defenses and climbed up, desperately trying to break through. During the breakthrough, the zombies that attracted the fire never retreated.
