Xiao Yi knew it was too late to escape. He took a deep breath, forced himself to calm down, and his brain raced, thinking of a response. He quickly observed the surrounding environment, looking for terrain and items that could be used.
To his left was an abandoned factory, its gate half-closed. It was dark inside, and he didn't know what dangers lay hidden. To his right was an open wasteland, devoid of any shelter. If he chose to run there, he would undoubtedly become a sitting duck for the zombies.
Xiao Yi gritted his teeth and decided to take the risk of entering the abandoned factory. He crouched down and rushed to the factory gate as fast as he could. The zombies behind him let out a low roar, and the footsteps were getting closer and closer, like the bell of death ringing in his ears.
The moment he rushed into the factory, a rotten smell hit him in the face. He didn't care about much and quickly looked for a place to hide. The factory was full of abandoned machines and debris. Xiao Yi shuttled through it, trying not to make any noise.
Just when he thought he was safe for the time being, a zombie jumped out from the shadows behind him. Xiao Yi reacted quickly, dodged sideways, and smashed the zombie's head with the wooden stick in his hand. The zombie fell to the ground, but more zombies had already poured into the factory.
Xiao Yi ran desperately, jumping over obstacles one after another. Suddenly, he found a staircase leading to the second floor. He rushed up without hesitation, hoping to find a glimmer of hope up there.
When he reached the second floor, he discovered that it was also filled with danger. The windows were shattered, and the wind howled in, raising a cloud of dust. Xiao Yi cautiously approached the window and looked out, only to see that the zombie horde had surrounded the factory.
A wave of despair surged in his heart, but it was quickly replaced by the will to survive. He began to look for something that could be used as a weapon on the second floor, and finally, he found a rusty axe.
Xiao Yi held the axe tightly and prayed silently in his heart. At this time, the zombies began to climb up the stairs. Xiao Yi stood at the stairs, ready to face a desperate fight.
The first zombie rushed forward, and Xiao Yi swung his axe, chopping at its neck. The zombie's head rolled off, blood splattering everywhere. But the zombies behind him kept coming, and Xiao Yi felt his physical strength was rapidly depleting.
Just when he was about to collapse, he suddenly discovered the zombie group's weakness. It turned out that these zombies seemed to be following the command of a leader, and that leader was not far from the factory.
A bold plan flashed through Xiao Yi's mind. He used all his strength to repel the zombies in front of him, then turned and ran to the other side of the factory. He jumped out of a broken window and rolled several times after landing to reduce the impact.
He avoided the zombies' attention and quietly went around behind the leader. The leader looked taller and stronger than the average zombie, and was wearing a tattered military uniform, and seemed to have retained some memories of his life.
Xiao Yi took advantage of the leader's unpreparedness, raised his axe, and chopped it off the leader's head. The leader sensed the danger and turned around to resist, but it was too late. The axe embedded deeply into his head, and the leader fell down.
With the death of their leader, the zombie horde fell into chaos. They lost their command and their movements became disorganized. Xiao Yi took the opportunity to launch a counterattack, and one zombie after another fell at his feet.
After a fierce battle, Xiao Yi finally eliminated all the zombies. He collapsed to the ground exhausted, gasping for breath. The sun shone on him through the clouds, as if rewarding his victory.
Xiao Yi knew that this was just a small episode in his long journey of survival. In this world full of dangers and unknowns, he still had to move forward and constantly fight against fate. But at this moment, he enjoyed this moment of tranquility and felt fortunate to be able to survive.
After resting for a while, Xiao Yi stood up, packed up his equipment, and continued on his journey to find resources. His figure gradually walked away in the afterglow of the setting sun, leaving behind a strong and unyielding back.
Xiao Yi's heartbeat suddenly accelerated, but he quickly calmed himself down. He began to observe the surrounding environment, looking for terrain advantages that could be used.
He was in a dense forest, where towering trees reached the sky, their branches intertwined to form a green dome that blocked out the sun. Underfoot lay a thick layer of fallen leaves, and each step made a slight sound, as if announcing his arrival to the unknown master of the forest.
The sun shone through the gaps between the leaves with difficulty, forming golden beams of light that shone on the moss and small bushes on the ground. Xiao Yi moved his feet carefully, holding the worn dagger tightly in his hand, and scanning the surroundings with vigilance.
Suddenly, a breeze blew, rustling the leaves, and Xiao Yi's nerves instantly tensed. He stopped, held his breath, and listened carefully for any unusual sounds coming from the wind. However, apart from the swaying of leaves, there seemed to be no other movement.
Xiao Yi continued walking, and the terrain beneath his feet began to rise gradually. He found himself walking towards a small hill. When he reached the top of the hill, the sight before him delighted him. On the other side of the hill was a winding stream. The water was so clear that you could see the bottom, and the waves sparkled in the sunlight.
Xiao Yi decided to follow the stream, as water often symbolized life and hope. He carefully walked down the steep slope until he reached the stream's edge. The water was icy cold, so he squatted down, scooped up the water with both hands, and drank a few sips. He immediately felt a coolness spread throughout his body, and his fatigue was alleviated.
After walking along the stream for a while, Xiao Yi found a narrow canyon. The cliffs on both sides of the canyon were steep and towering, almost perpendicular to the ground. He looked up and saw a line of blue sky faintly visible in the narrow gap above his head.
