Chapter 823: Fighting Together 30

The smoke gradually dissipated, and a huge monster appeared before them. This monster had the appearance of a rat, but its body was dozens of times larger than an ordinary rat. Its eyes flashed red, its teeth were extremely sharp, its body was covered with a layer of black scales, and it exuded a disgusting odor.

"This... what is this?" Tom said in horror, his hand unconsciously touching the pistol at his waist.

"Whatever it is, we can't back down," Jack said, drawing his gun as well.

The monster roared and lunged at them. Jack and Tom fired their weapons, their bullets pinging against the monster's scales with only a thud, causing no real damage. The monster was incredibly fast, reaching them in a flash. It extended its massive claws and clawed at Jack. Jack dodged the attack, but the claws still ripped through his clothes.

"We can't go on like this. We have to find a way." Tom shouted.

Jack looked around and found a huge iron rack not far away with some heavy goods on it. He suddenly had an idea and shouted to Tom, "Tom, let's knock down that iron rack and crush it!"

Tom nodded, and the two of them began running toward the iron frame. The monster seemed to sense their intentions and pursued them relentlessly. Jack and Tom ran to the iron frame and gave it a strong push. Under their pressure, the frame gradually tilted, finally collapsing with a loud thud, landing squarely on the monster.

The monster was pinned under the iron frame, uttering a cry of pain. Jack and Tom thought the danger was over and breathed a sigh of relief, but they didn't expect the monster to suddenly struggle hard and overturn the iron frame. It had several wounds on its body, and black blood was flowing out, but this didn't seem to affect its fighting ability, but instead made it even more angry.

The monster rushed towards them again, and Jack and Tom had no time to dodge. At this critical moment, a loud shout came from another corner of the factory: "Get out of the way!"

Jack and Tom instinctively dodged to the side, and a strong beam of light shot towards the monster. After being hit by the light, the monster let out a shrill scream, and its body began to smoke, as if it had suffered great damage.

Jack and Tom looked in the direction of the light and saw a figure in a white hazmat suit standing there, holding a flashlight-like device. Jack and Tom looked closely and realized that the figure in the white hazmat suit was none other than Old Henry, the town's long-lost scientist. Old Henry, with a solemn expression, walked quickly towards them, pointing at the struggling monster and saying, "This is the product of my experiment gone awry. It's extremely aggressive and mutable. We must find a way to completely eliminate it, or the town will be in imminent danger."

In a quiet town, the night falls and the stars twinkle in the sky. Jack and Tom are good friends who grew up together. Tonight, they are exploring the woods outside the town as usual.

A thin layer of mist filled the woods, making the already gloomy environment even more mysterious. Suddenly, a low roar broke the silence of the night, and Jack and Tom were immediately terrified.

"What's that noise?" Tom asked in a trembling voice, clutching Jack's arm tightly.

Jack pretended to be calm, swallowed, and said, "I don't know, but it doesn't sound good. Let's be careful."

The two men approached the source of the sound cautiously, their heartbeats being particularly clear in the silence. When they finally saw the scene before them, fear instantly took over their hearts.

A gigantic monster writhes in the moonlight, its body twisted and deformed, covered in sharp thorns and bumps. Its blood-red eyes flash with a ferocious light. Its limbs are thick and powerful, and every movement shakes the ground slightly. Green slime oozes from the monster, emitting a pungent stench.

Jack and Tom were so frightened that they stood still, their legs seemed to be weighed down by lead blocks, unable to move at all.

At this moment, a figure walked out from the shadows behind them. Jack and Tom looked closely and found that the man in the white protective suit was actually the long-lost scientist Henry in the town.

Old Henry's face was solemn as he walked quickly towards them. His eyes were filled with anxiety and regret, and his voice trembled as he said, "This is the product of my experiment that went out of control. It's extremely aggressive and mutable. We must find a way to completely eliminate it, otherwise the town will be in danger."

Jack and Tom recovered from their shock, and Jack was the first to ask, "Old Henry, what on earth is going on? How could you make such a horrible thing?"

Old Henry took a deep breath and began to recount the whole story. He had been conducting a secret experiment in his laboratory, aiming to create a creature with immense adaptability and strength to help address the town's resource shortages. However, something went terribly wrong, causing the subject to undergo an uncontrollable mutation, transforming into the ferocious monster before him.

“I thought everything was under control, but I didn’t expect…” Old Henry’s voice was full of self-blame and helplessness.

Tom said anxiously, "What should we do now? This monster looks so terrible. How can we possibly defeat it?"

Old Henry frowned, thought for a moment, and then said, "We must first find a way to restrict its movements, and then find its weaknesses to attack. I discovered in the lab that it is sensitive to high-frequency sound waves. Perhaps we can use this to create interference."
