Chapter 4: Escape from Life and Death
Xiao Yi rushed out of the supermarket's back door with all his might, the thugs chasing him closely, still shouting curses. He ran desperately along the street, holding the shopping cart tightly in his hands, as if it was his only hope of surviving this disaster. Sweat soaked his back like rain, and his rapid breathing made his chest feel like it was about to explode.
"Stop, don't run! If you run again, I'll shoot you!" The thug's voice was getting closer and closer behind him, full of threats.
Xiao Yi saw a narrow alley ahead and turned in without hesitation. The alley was filled with debris and emitted a foul smell. He pushed the shopping cart through the debris with difficulty, and his speed became slower and slower. Suddenly, his foot slipped and he fell heavily to the ground.
The shopping cart also overturned, and the supplies inside were scattered all over the ground. Xiao Yi ignored the pain in his body and quickly got up, trying to pick up the scattered supplies. At this moment, the thugs had already caught up.
"Hmph, let's see where you can run! Today, I'm going to take care of all these things of yours!" The thug sneered, raised the stick in his hand, and smashed it down at Xiao Yi fiercely.
