After a short rest in the CEO's office, Xiao Yi decided to continue searching for supplies. He knew that relying solely on the flames of the fireplace and the resources in the office wouldn't allow him to survive for long in this freezing cold world. He needed food, water, and more gear to keep him warm.
He cautiously descended the stairs, clutching a fire axe he'd found in his office, and surveyed his surroundings with vigilance. The interior of the building was frozen solid, and the glass windows in the corridor were covered in thick frost, refracting light through the ice, creating an eerie glow.
Suddenly, he heard a low sound of footsteps, mixed with the sound of metal colliding. Xiao Yi quickly hid behind a pillar, held his breath, and listened carefully.
"Hurry! Search every floor and don't let that guy run away!" A rough voice came, with obvious hostility in the tone.
Xiao Yi's heartbeat quickened, and he knew that he had been discovered. He quickly looked around, trying to find an escape route, but the corridor was frozen and the only exit was blocked by the group of people.
"He's nearby! Don't let him run away!" The footsteps were getting closer and closer, and Xiao Yi could feel his heartbeat echoing in his ears.
He gripped the fire axe tightly, took a deep breath, and prepared to launch a counterattack the moment the other party discovered him. However, just as he was about to rush out, he felt a faint warmth on his neck.
He looked down and saw the copper coin hanging around his neck glowing faintly. It was an ancient copper coin, a relic he had inherited from his grandfather as a child, and he had always worn it as a talisman. Now, the coin's light grew brighter and brighter, as if responding to his crisis.
"What is this..." Xiao Yi murmured in a low voice, a hint of doubt flashed in his eyes.
At this moment, the light of the copper coin suddenly burst out, and Xiao Yi felt that his body was wrapped by an invisible force, and the world in front of him became blurred in an instant. The next second, he found himself standing in an unfamiliar space.
This is a space of about ten square meters, shrouded in soft light. There are some miscellaneous items piled on the ground - a few bottles of mineral water, a few packets of compressed biscuits, and even a thick down jacket.
"Is this... space?" Xiao Yi looked around in shock, unable to believe his eyes.
He quickly picked up a bottle of water, unscrewed the cap and took a sip. The cool water flowed into his throat, making him feel comfortable. He then picked up the down jacket and quickly put it on. He immediately felt a warmth enveloping his whole body.
"This copper coin...is actually a movable space!" Xiao Yi whispered with a hint of excitement in his tone.
He quickly checked the supplies in the room and found that in addition to water and food, there was also a pistol and several boxes of bullets. He picked up the pistol, checked the magazine, and after confirming that there were enough bullets, he put it on his waist.
At this moment, he felt a noisy sound coming from outside the space. He closed his eyes, concentrated his mind, and instantly returned to the real world.
He found himself still hiding behind the pillar, and the group of people had approached to within a few meters of him. Xiao Yi gripped his pistol tightly, quickly rushed out from behind the pillar, and fired at the other party.
"Bang!" The sound of gunfire echoed in the corridor. The other party obviously didn't expect Xiao Yi to have a weapon, and immediately dodged in panic.
"He's here! Catch him!" The rough voice sounded again, but there was a hint of panic in the tone.
Xiao Yi did not linger in the fight and quickly ran to the other end of the corridor. He knew that he had to leave here as soon as possible, otherwise he would be in dire straits if surrounded by the enemy.
As he ran, he reached for the copper coin around his neck and silently said in his heart: "Enter the space."
The next second, he was back in that warm space. He quickly checked his equipment, making sure everything was ready, and then returned to the real world.
This time, he appeared at the other end of the corridor. The group had already caught up with him, but obviously did not find any trace of him. Xiao Yi quickly ran towards the stairwell, his heart filled with relief at having survived the disaster.
"This copper coin... really saved my life." He whispered with a hint of gratitude in his tone.
He quickly went downstairs, left the building, and ran towards the depths of the city. He knew that the copper coins and the device in his hands would be the key to his survival in this extremely cold world.
After Xiao Yi left the building, the cold wind cut his face like a knife. The sky was covered with thick gray clouds, as if a huge lead plate was pressing down on his head, making it difficult to breathe. The buildings on both sides of the street had long been frozen, and the glass windows were covered with thick ice crystals, like hideous ghost faces, staring coldly at this abandoned world.
The ground was covered with a thick layer of snow. Every step felt like walking on cotton, yet it was piercingly cold. Xiao Yi wrapped his down jacket tightly around him, but it still couldn't keep out the bone-deep cold. His breath condensed into white mist in the air, which was then shredded by the cold wind.
"This damn weather..." Xiao Yi cursed in a low voice, but his voice was quickly drowned out by the whistling wind.
He walked cautiously along the street, his eyes scanning his surroundings warily. The streets had long since lost their former bustle, replaced by a deathly silence. Occasionally, a few frozen bodies lay on the roadside, their faces still etched with the terror and despair of death. Their bodies, covered in ice and snow, were like silent sculptures, speaking of the relentless nature of the disaster.
Suddenly, there was a low roar in the sky, like the roar of some giant beast. Xiao Yi looked up and saw a dazzling blue light flashing in the distant clouds. Then, a huge lightning bolt split the sky and hit the ground.
"Boom!" A loud bang was heard, and the ground shook violently, causing Xiao Yi to almost fall. He steadied himself and looked in the direction of the lightning. He saw a tall building in the distance being struck by lightning and collapsing instantly. Huge blocks of ice and steel fell from the sky, hitting the ground and stirring up a cloud of snow and mist.
