Chapter 852: Blue Star Destruction 7

Blue Planet, once a dazzling celestial being, shone like a dazzling pearl, bearing the prosperity and dreams of countless lives. The vast ocean, once the cradle of life, its majestic waves tell endless stories. Dense forests, like the earth's green garment, nurtured the vitality of all things within their lush greenery. Bustling cities, ablaze with lights and bustling with traffic, teemed with people pursuing their own happiness and hopes.

However, a sudden catastrophe, like the roar of a demon, instantly shattered this beautiful scene. It was an unprecedented catastrophe, perhaps the malicious arrival of an unknown force from the depths of the universe, or perhaps the planet itself collapsed under the weight. A dark haze hung in the sky like a vast curtain, quickly obscuring the warm sunlight and plunging the earth into endless darkness and cold. Then, the earth shook, volcanoes erupted, and scorching magma, like a demon's tongue, devoured everything. A tsunami swept in with overwhelming force, instantly wiping out coastal cities. Radiation permeated the air like a ghost, withering away life in agony wherever it touched.

Under the baptism of this catastrophe, the Blue Planet was completely reduced to a dead wasteland. The once oceans dried up, leaving only the cracked seabed, like a despairing wound in the earth. The forests were burned to ashes, leaving only charred tree stumps, like tombstones, telling of the tragedy of the past. The city was reduced to ruins, the broken walls standing alone in the wind, as if weeping silently. The air was filled with the stench of decay and burning, a mixture of death and despair.

Xiao Yi was one of those young men who tenaciously grew up amidst the ruins of this wasteland. He didn't have many clear memories of the world before the disaster, and those beautiful images he could only piece together from the occasional stories told by his elders and fragmented footage. Even so, the dream of rebuilding civilization took root like a seed in his heart, growing stronger with the passing of time.

In the long years following the disaster, Xiao Yi and a group of like-minded companions wandered around like dandelions in the wind. They shuttled between abandoned cities, barren fields, and dead valleys, carefully collecting every possible resource. Old cans, rusted tools, torn books, even a small piece of usable wire, in their eyes, were all invaluable treasures.

They tried to build small strongholds in this wasteland. These strongholds were like tiny glimmers of light in the darkness of the wasteland. They built simple walls with worn steel plates and sandbags to keep out the occasional dangerous creatures; they used the solar panels and generators they picked up to try to maintain the weak power supply; on the only small piece of land, they tried to grow some hardy plants, hoping to harvest some food. Although life was extremely difficult, they never gave up, and always tried to spread the seeds of civilization in this wasteland. On this day, the sun was still shrouded in a faint haze, and Xiao Yi and his companions embarked on a journey of searching for supplies as usual. They drove a shabby off-road vehicle that had been modified countless times and could barely run, and struggled forward on the bumpy road. Along the way, abandoned car wreckage and collapsed buildings kept passing by, as if telling the story of the prosperity of the past and the desolation of today.

When they arrived at the edge of an abandoned town, they unexpectedly encountered a ragged homeless man. The homeless man had messy hair and a look of deep vigilance in his eyes, but after seeing that Xiao Yi and the others had no ill intentions, he gradually relaxed his vigilance. During a brief conversation, the homeless man accidentally mentioned the rumor of a mysterious base.

"In the vast desert, there lies a mysterious base." The wanderer's voice was hoarse and low, as if afraid of being overheard. "The base is tightly guarded by towering walls. The walls appear impenetrable, like an isolated island in this wasteland."

At first, Xiao Yi thought it was just a survivor's base similar to theirs. After all, in this wasteland, everyone was trying to find hope for survival, and establishing a base was a common thing. However, as the wanderer's story deepened, a shocking fact gradually surfaced.

"Don't go near that place," a trace of fear flashed in the wanderer's eyes. "Slavery is prevalent there. They treat the captured survivors as slaves, forcing them to work. If they don't do what they want, they will be tortured to death."

Xiao Yi's previously tranquil heart was instantly turned upside down. He had always believed that even in a wasteland, humans should abandon their barbaric and cruel practices and work together to rebuild civilization. However, the existence of this base was like a sharp blade, mercilessly piercing his beliefs.

"Are you sure these are all true?" Xiao Yi stared at the wanderer, his eyes revealing a hint of anxiety and anger.

The Ranger nodded gravely. "I saw them capture slaves with my own eyes. Those poor people were tied up like animals and dragged into the base. I ran as fast as I could and saved my life."

Xiao Yi's companions looked at each other, anger and disbelief on their faces. "We can't just sit back and watch," Xiao Yi clenched his fists, a determined glint in his eyes. "We have to go and see, and find a way to stop this atrocity."

The companions nodded in agreement. Although they knew that there might be great danger waiting for them ahead, the sense of justice in their hearts made them choose to stand with Xiao Yi without hesitation.

After some preparation, Xiao Yi and his companions set out on their journey to the mysterious desert base. Their off-road vehicle struggled through the desert, its wheels leaving deep tracks in the soft sand, which were soon buried by the ruthless wind and sand. The blazing sun hung high in the sky, releasing its heat without reservation, baking the car body and scorching the air inside, making it feel like it was on fire, making it difficult to breathe.
