# Chapter One: Dangers of Adrift Across the boundless, vast ocean, the waves roared and tumbled like ferocious beasts, relentlessly surging. Beneath the seemingly calm surface lay endless dangers. The Noah's Ark, painstakingly constructed by Xiao Yi and his companions, drifted slowly across the vast ocean like a lonely yet tenacious moving oasis. This Noah's Ark carried the great hope of rebuilding their farming community. Every inch of its planks was woven with the blood and sweat of their labor. Atop the ark, the meticulously cultivated crops radiated a vibrant green. Gently swaying in the breeze, they spoke of the unyielding spirit of the people persevering in this turbulent world. These crops were the means of survival amidst despair, and their hope for a better future. Yet, beneath the calm surface, danger, like a ghost lurking in the darkness, silently approached. A powerful mercenary group has, at some point, set their sights on the Ark, carrying this symbol of hope. In this chaotic world, these mercenaries, driven by ruthlessness and greed, plunder everywhere. They're drawn not only to the Ark's abundant food resources, enough to keep them well fed, but also to its advanced agricultural techniques—in an era of extreme food scarcity, mastering these techniques is like mastering the code to survival. Furthermore, the Ark's vast interior, after renovation, could become a fortress and mobile base, a truly tempting prospect. That day, the blazing sun poured down unreservedly on the sea, shimmering the waters. The lookout, squinting, vigilantly observing his surroundings, suddenly caught sight of several small black specks on the distant horizon. At first, he thought they were just ordinary sea foam, but as the specks drew closer, their irregular shape and speed gave him a sense of foreboding. "Not good!" The lookout's eyes widened, his telescope gripping his hand instinctively. After a closer look, his face instantly paled. "Unidentified vessels spotted ahead, rapidly approaching us!" His anxious cry, like a thunderclap, instantly shattered the quiet aboard the Ark. Xiao Yi, who was inside checking the crops, felt his heart tighten at the sound of the call. Without even wiping the sweat from his forehead, he quickly dropped his tools, stepped out of the cabin, and sprinted towards the observation deck. Each step felt like a heartbeat, for he knew that in this turbulent world, the approach of unidentified vessels always meant danger. As he ascended the observation deck and gazed in the direction the lookout pointed, he saw in the distance several dilapidated ships, armed with a variety of weapons. Their cold metallic sheen gleamed in the sunlight, as they pounced like wolves, fiercely approaching the Ark. Their bows lifted high, sending up a massive splash of water, as if announcing their ill intentions to the world. "It's a mercenary group!" Xiao Yi recognized them instantly. These mercenaries were notorious in these waters, committing murder, looting, and all manner of evil. Xiao Yi's eyes instantly grew cold and resolute, knowing full well that a fierce battle was inevitable. "Everyone, prepare for battle!" He quickly commanded, his voice firm and powerful, echoing across the Ark like a resounding bell. This sound, as if with an invisible force, instantly ignited the fighting spirit within everyone. A tense, battle-ready alarm blared across the Ark, its shrill blast piercing the air as if declaring war on the impending danger. Upon hearing the siren, everyone on the Ark sprang into action. The young and strong men drew up their weapons. Though crude, these weapons embodied their resolve to defend their homeland. Their eyes revealed a resolute, fearless determination, as if to tell the world that anyone who attempted to rob them of their hope would pay a heavy price. The women quickly organized themselves, caring for the elderly and children while also helping to carry supplies and prepare for the battle. Although the children were filled with fear, inspired by the adults, they also tried to remain calm. They clenched their fists and silently cheered on their loved ones who were about to fight. Xiao Yi stood on the observation deck, watching the mercenary ships approaching, and his mind quickly formulated a countermeasure. He knew that his own weapons and equipment were far inferior to theirs, and a head-on confrontation was unwise. So he quickly summoned several key members of the Ark to urgently discuss the battle plan. "We can't fight them head-on. Their weapons are too advanced," Xiao Yi said with a frown, his face serious. "Then what should we do? Are we just going to sit there and wait for death?" a young man asked anxiously, a hint of panic in his eyes. Xiao Yi patted him on the shoulder and said soothingly, "Of course not. We should take advantage of the Ark's strengths. The Ark's large size makes it less maneuverable, but its defenses are relatively strong. We can set up obstacles around it to slow their approach, and then, leveraging our familiarity with the terrain, we can engage them in guerrilla warfare." Everyone nodded in agreement. Under Xiao Yi's command, everyone sprang into action. Some gathered scrap wood and debris from the Ark, tied them together with ropes, and tossed them into the water around it, forming a series of improvised barriers. Others set traps at strategic locations, preparing to catch any enemy aboard by surprise. Still others, under Xiao Yi's leadership, rationally distributed the limited weapons, ensuring sufficient combat power at each defensive point. Meanwhile, the mercenary ships were drawing closer, their arrogant laughter and shouts audible. "Haha, look at that wrecked ship! Today is its end!" "Once we're aboard, all that food and technology will be ours!" These cacophony of voices only strengthened the Ark's resolve to defend their homeland. As the mercenary ships approached the obstacles, their speed slowed noticeably. They attempted to forcibly clear the obstacles with their weapons, but they proved to be a significant challenge. Just as they were frantic, Xiao Yi seized the opportunity and shouted, "Open fire!" A burst of gunfire and shouts erupted from the Ark, as the mercenaries unleashed a fierce barrage of fire at the mercenary ships. Unexpectedly, the mercenaries were momentarily flustered by the Ark's resistance. But they quickly recovered and, leveraging their immense firepower, launched a counterattack. Bullets rained down on the Ark, sending wood chips flying from the planks. Some Ark members were tragically wounded and fell in a pool of blood. But the others didn't retreat, gritting their teeth and continuing their fierce resistance. Xiao Yi directed his men to evade the enemy's attacks while searching for weaknesses. He discovered that, despite the mercenaries' formidable firepower, their ships lacked coordination and they had underestimated the enemy, failing to adequately prepare their defenses. "Everyone, focus your fire on the ship in the middle!" Xiao Yi shouted. The men immediately followed his instructions, concentrating their fire on the mercenary ship in the middle. For a moment, the ship was surrounded by a thick cloud of gunfire, and crew members continued to fall, shot and killed. The mercenaries, sensing the danger, began adjusting their tactics, attempting to distract the Ark's firepower. But Xiao Yi was prepared. He instructed his men to respond flexibly, constantly shifting their firing positions to confuse the enemy. The battle raged for a long time, with heavy casualties on both sides. Although the men on the Ark put up a staunch resistance, the disparity in weaponry gradually wore them down. Suddenly, dark clouds gathered, and a fierce wind blew. The previously calm sea suddenly became turbulent, with massive waves rising like mountains, crashing heavily against the ships on both sides. This sudden and severe weather forced a temporary pause in the battle. Xiao Yi saw this as a rare opportunity to catch his breath. He quickly organized everyone to treat the wounded and repair their weapons, while simultaneously pondering the next battle plan. "We don't know how long this storm will last. We must devise a better plan before it ends," Xiao Yi said, looking at his injured companions, his eyes filled with worry. "How about we take advantage of the storm and quietly leave here?" one member suggested. Xiao Yi shook his head and said, "No, our Ark is large and slow in this inclement weather, making it easy for them to overtake us. Furthermore, our crops require a stable environment, and this kind of turbulence could damage them. We can only hold our ground here and look for an opportunity to strike back." As the storm raged, the mercenary ship was violently rocked by the waves. They hid in the cabin, temporarily unable to attack the Ark. But Xiao Yi knew that the storm would eventually pass, and once the weather improved, the enemy would surely attack again. So, he used this time to further strengthen the Ark's defenses and to give everyone time to rest and recuperate. Finally, after several hours of raging, the storm gradually subsided. The sea calmed down, but the air was filled with a heightened sense of tension. The mercenary ship sailed towards the Ark again, this time with anger and murderous intent in their eyes. They seemed to have realized that the group before them was not as easy to deal with as they had imagined."Everyone, listen up! This is a life-or-death battle. We must not retreat!" Xiao Yi shouted a rallying cry, gazing at the enemy about to engage again. Everyone on the Ark gripped their weapons tightly and shouted in unison, "Defend the Ark. Never retreat!" The cry resounded through the air, as if announcing their resolve to the world. As the mercenary ships approached the Ark, they no longer underestimated the enemy as before. Instead, they cautiously probed, searching for weaknesses in the Ark's defenses. Xiao Yi led the troops in a composed response, skillfully countering every enemy attack. The two sides reached a stalemate, but Xiao Yi knew that this would be extremely disadvantageous for their side. With limited supplies on the Ark, a prolonged battle of attrition would ultimately prove victorious for the better-equipped mercenaries. Just then, Xiao Yi spotted several crew members busy adjusting their weapons at the stern of one of the mercenary ships. Their concentration on their weapons had negligibly shifted their focus from the surroundings. Xiao Yi sensed a golden opportunity. "Follow me!" he whispered to the agile members nearby. Then, they quietly lowered ropes from the side of the ark and slid down into the sea. Protected by the waves, they swam toward the ship. As they neared the vessel, Xiao Yi signaled, and everyone quickly climbed the side. Before the enemy could react, they rushed in like tigers, engaging in close combat. Xiao Yi's agility was unstoppable, his dagger gleaming coldly in the sunlight, and every swing was accompanied by screams of pain from the enemy. Not to be outdone, the other members fought desperately with the enemy. The mercenaries were caught off guard by the sudden attack, their formation thrown into disarray. "Everyone, keep going! Take this opportunity to disrupt their formation!" Xiao Yi shouted as he fought. Seeing Xiao Yi and his men succeed, the others on the ark were emboldened and intensified their attacks. Attacked from both sides, the mercenaries finally overwhelmed and began to retreat. They leaped onto their own boats, attempting to escape the battlefield. "Don't let them escape!" Xiao Yi shouted, and the others pursued them. After a fierce battle, the mercenary ships fled in panic, disappearing over the horizon. A cheer erupted from the Ark, and everyone embraced and wept. They had paid a heavy price in this battle, but ultimately they had successfully defended their home and their hope. Xiao Yi watched the retreating enemy, knowing that this was just one of the many perils they would face during their journey. The road ahead was long, and more dangers and challenges awaited them. But he firmly believed that as long as they united, no difficulty could be insurmountable. "We cannot let our guard down. Although they escaped this time, they may come again. We must repair the Ark as quickly as possible, strengthen its defenses, and continue to develop our agricultural business," Xiao Yi said to the crowd. Everyone nodded, wiped away their tears, and began to devote themselves to post-war reconstruction. On this vast ocean, Noah's Ark slowly set sail once again, carrying the hopes of the people with it, continuing its journey into the unknown. # Chapter Two: Tit-for-Tat The mercenary group's ships, like a pack of ferocious sharks with bared fangs and claws, raced through the waves and quickly surrounded Noah's Ark. Sunlight shone on their shabby yet sinister hulls, and the metal weapons reflected a dazzling light, like the claws of a demon. On one of the flagships, a man with a face full of flesh and a black eye patch stood majestically at the bow, like a ferocious pirate leader. He was a burly man with bulging muscles, with a hideous skull tattoo on his bare arm, and his single eye radiated ferocity and greed. The man held a megaphone, and his voice rang out like a broken gong: "Listen, everyone on board! You are surrounded! Hand over the Ark and all supplies, and we will spare your lives!" The voice echoed across the sea, carrying an unquestionable arrogance. Xiao Yi stood fearlessly on the deck of the Ark, his posture upright and his eyes resolute, like a lion guarding his territory. His hair flew wildly in the sea breeze, his tattered windbreaker rustling. Hearing the other side's arrogant words, Xiao Yi's lips curled into a scornful smile, and he shouted back, "This is our home. You bandits, don't even think of taking it so easily! Come on!" His voice was firm and powerful, resounding like a bell, signaling to the mercenaries their unwavering resolve. The mercenary leader, visibly enraged by Xiao Yi's assertiveness, glared out of his single eye, his face trembling with fury. With a sudden wave of his hand, as if issuing a death warrant, gunfire erupted. Countless bullets erupted from the mercenary ships, raining down upon the Ark like a dense rain. Simultaneously, shells, trailing long, black plumes of smoke, whistled like meteors towards the Ark, leaving terrifying trails in the air. In an instant, the sea was thick with smoke, and the sound of explosions was deafening. Shells exploded around the Ark, sending up massive waves several feet high and pouring water like a torrential downpour. The Ark rocked violently under the impact, seemingly ready to be swallowed by the sea at any moment. Wood chips flew from the deck planks struck by the shells, and debris that hadn't had time to dodge was flung into the air by the powerful impact, only to fall heavily back. Under Xiao Yi's command, the people on the Ark quickly retreated to the pre-installed fortifications. These fortifications, painstakingly constructed with thick steel plates and sturdy wood, were designed to withstand a certain level of attack. From a high vantage point, Xiao Yi shouted his commands, his voice drowning out the roar of the gunfire: "Psychics, prepare to counterattack! Defense teams, reinforce the Ark's shields! Attack teams, seize the opportunity to strike back at the enemy ships!" For a moment, the Ark shone with psychic light. Those possessing psychic powers unleashed their abilities one after another. Some waved their hands, and massive ice walls rose around the Ark, partially blocking the whistling bullets. Others chanted incantations, summoning sharp stone spikes from the ground and piercing the mercenary ships. Still others, their eyes gleaming, radiated fiery rays, attempting to destroy the enemy's weapons. The defense team was also busily engaged. They frantically adjusted various instruments around the core of the Ark's shield. The shield, the linchpin of the Ark's defenses, was made of a special material and emitted a faint blue glow. With their combined efforts, the blue glow grew ever more intense, like a solid blue eggshell, tightly enveloping the Ark. Every time a shell struck the shield, ripples formed, absorbing the blast's impact. The attack team crouched behind firing slits in the fortifications, their gaze fixed on the mercenary ships, searching for a chance to strike back. They clutched their crude, homemade weapons, their eyes gleaming with determination. Though their weapons were inferior to the enemy's, their courage and resolve were no less advanced. Seeing that the people on the Ark not only refused to surrender but instead put up a fierce resistance, the mercenaries grew even more furious. They intensified their attacks, raining shells down on the Ark like a swarm of locusts. Aboard one of the mercenary ships, a massive cannon slowly adjusted its angle, aiming its muzzle at the Ark's shield. With a deafening roar, a massive shell whistled out, slamming into the Ark's shield with devastating force. This shell, far more powerful than the previous ones, trembled violently as it struck, its blue light flickering. The defense team's expressions paled as they increased their energy inputs. They gritted their teeth, beads of sweat streaming down their foreheads as their hands worked furiously on their instruments. Despite their combined efforts, the shield barely withstood this wave of attack, but its glow was noticeably dimmed. Xiao Yi, observing the crumbling shield, knew he could no longer passively endure this attack. His eyes swiftly scanned the battlefield, spotting a mercenary ship, having drawn too close, repositioning itself for another attack. Its firepower was relatively weak, and the crew, on the verge of success, had become somewhat complacent. Xiao Yi acted decisively, shouting, "Strike team, concentrate your fire on that approaching ship! Psychics, coordinate your attack!" The attack team immediately aimed their weapons at the ship, unleashing a barrage of bullets. Simultaneously, the psychics unleashed their powers upon the vessel. Instantly, a barrage of ice spikes, stone spikes, and flames descended upon the vessel. The mercenary crew, caught off guard by the Ark's sudden counterattack, were thrown into chaos. Some crew members, struck by incoming bullets, fell screaming; others, struck by psychic powers, were instantly frozen or set ablaze. Chaos reigned on the ship's deck, and the fire spread rapidly. The crew fled, trying to extinguish the fire and repair the damaged equipment, but it was too late. Under the fierce attack, the ship quickly burst into flames. The flames, raging wildly in the sea breeze, engulfed the entire ship in flames. With a loud bang, the ship's ammunition magazine detonated, and the massive explosion tore the ship to pieces. The debris rained down into the sea, stirring up a huge spray. The leader of the mercenary group was furious when he saw one of his ships destroyed. He roared madly and kept commanding other ships to increase the intensity of the attack. For a while, the sound of gunfire became more intense, and the sea around the Ark was turbulent due to the bombardment of shells. The Ark's shield was finally overwhelmed by the fierce attack of the enemy, and with a "pop", it shattered like glass. Without the protection of the shield, the Ark was directly exposed to the enemy's attack. Shells fell on the Ark like raindrops, some fortifications were directly blown up, and many people were knocked to the ground by the blast. Xiao Yi looked at his injured companions, his heart filled with anger. He knew that this was a critical moment of life and death. If decisive measures were not taken, the Ark and everyone on board would face a catastrophe. Xiao Yi looked around and found that the enemy's attack was mainly concentrated on the front of the Ark. He quickly made a decision: "Everyone, follow me! Break out from the side of the Ark! The defense team, stay behind to hold back and block the enemy's attacks as much as possible! The psychics and the attack team, follow me and surprise the enemy!" Upon hearing the order, everyone sprang into action. The defense team resolutely stood at the front of the Ark, using their bodies and crude defenses to withstand the overwhelming enemy attacks. They knew it was a near-death battle, but no one flinched. Bullets pelted their bodies, blood staining the decks red, but they stubbornly held their ground, buying time for the others to break out. Xiao Yi led the psychics and the attack team, quietly descending from the side of the Ark into the sea. They slithered through the waters, approaching a mercenary ship. Once near the ship, Xiao Yi gestured, and everyone quickly climbed the side. Before the enemy could react, they charged like ghosts into their midst, engaging in close combat. Xiao Yi bore the brunt of the attack, his movements swift and agile, the dagger in his hand gleaming coldly in the sunlight. Every swing was met with screams of agony. Like a god of war, he darted through the enemy horde with ease, crushing them wherever he went. Not to be outdone, the other psychics and members of the attack team unleashed their own abilities. Their psychic radiances flickered through the crowd, and shouts of killing and screams mingled. The mercenaries were caught off guard by the sudden attack. They had assumed the Ark's inhabitants were trapped and defenseless, but they hadn't expected the enemy to dare to attack. For a moment, the mercenaries on board were thrown into disarray, fleeing in all directions. Xiao Yi, seizing the opportunity, shouted, "Everyone, take advantage of the chaos to seize control of this ship and use its weapons to strike back!" Immediately, everyone rushed to the control room and weapons handling area. After a fierce battle, they finally succeeded in taking control of the ship. Xiao Yi quickly reached the weapons control panel and deftly maneuvered his weapons, aiming them at the other mercenary ships. As Xiao Yi pressed the fire button, shells roared out of the ship, accurately striking the other mercenary ships. Suddenly, a series of explosions echoed across the sea, and the mercenary ships, struck, burst into flames. Seeing Xiao Yi and his men's success, the other Ark members were emboldened and rushed out of the Ark to launch a counterattack against the mercenaries. Attacked from both sides, the mercenaries finally overwhelmed and began to retreat. They leaped onto their own ships, attempting to flee the battlefield. But Xiao Yi and his men would not let them off so easily, continuing their pursuit with fire. In the chaos, the mercenary ships fled in panic, disappearing over the horizon. Cheers erupted on the Ark, and everyone embraced and wept. This fierce naval battle had cost them dearly, but they ultimately succeeded in repelling the mercenaries and defending their homeland. Xiao Yi looked at the enemies going away, knowing that this was just the beginning and that there would be more challenges waiting for them in the future. But he firmly believed that as long as everyone was united, there would be no difficulties that could not be overcome. "We can't let our guard down. Although we repelled them this time, they will definitely come again. We must repair the Ark as soon as possible, strengthen our defenses, and improve our strength." Xiao Yi said to everyone. Everyone nodded, wiped away their tears, and began to devote themselves to post-war reconstruction. On this vast ocean, Noah's Ark, although scarred, still floated firmly, carrying the hopes of everyone and continuing to embark on an unknown journey.
