Chapter 859: Blue Star Destruction 14

The gloom of the apocalypse, like thick, insoluble ink, weighed heavily on Xiao Yi's heart, making every breath feel like a leaden weight. Outside the window, the desolate, hopeless landscape resembled a painting smeared with malicious intent, a scene of decay and death—the unfortunate aftermath of a year of acid rain. Blue Planet, once a vibrant, radiant pearl, now lacked even a hint of green, a symbol of life, as if ruthlessly drained of its vitality by death. Xiao Yi sat alone in the driver's seat of an off-road RV, which jolted along the bumpy road like a leaf in a windswept wind. His hands gripped the steering wheel tightly, his knuckles white from the strain, his gaze fixed like a burning torch, fixed on the unknown journey ahead. Outside, the wind howled like a mad beast, stirring dust like arrows, pelting the windows with a crackling sound, as if denouncing him within. "This might be the last surviving piece of land on Blue Star..." Xiao Yi muttered to himself, his voice low and hoarse, as if worn by the winds and sands of this apocalyptic world. This piece of land, amidst the vast ocean of this apocalyptic world, was like a crumbling island, lonely and fragile. Yet, amidst this endless despair, Xiao Yi remained calm, for he possessed a secret dimension that could change his fate. That dimension, a paradise, stood in stark contrast to the devastating apocalyptic world. There, fruits and vegetables flourished, their tender leaves dripping with glistening dewdrops, reflecting a myriad of colors in the soft sunlight, emanating the vibrant energy of life. The origins of this dimension remained a mystery to Xiao Yi. It was as if, at the moment of the apocalypse, amidst the chaos and turmoil of heaven and earth, it had quietly appeared within his consciousness, like a mysterious gift bestowed upon him by fate. As acid rain began to pour down like a death knell, plunging the world into a turbulent abyss, Xiao Yi, relying on this mysterious space, displayed preternatural calmness and determination. He searched far and wide, storing a vast supply of seeds. Those tiny seeds, he saw as the sparks of hope for the future. These seeds then took root and sprouted within the space, thriving and growing, gradually forming a vibrant little world, the very foundation of his survival in this difficult apocalyptic world. The RV continued to chug along, its engine purring heavily, as if exhausted by the arduous journey. Suddenly, a horde of twisted, mutated beasts appeared on the road ahead. They resembled monsters from a nightmare, massive and grotesque, their limbs twisted at strange angles. Their gazes were fierce, like blazing flames, radiating a bloodthirsty glint. Sharp fangs bared, gleaming coldly in the sunlight, and they uttered deep, threatening roars, as if warning Xiao Yi who had trespassed into their territory. Xiao Yi's brow furrowed slightly, like the gloomy sky before a storm. His eyes instantly sharpened like an eagle's. He slowly reached out and gripped the shotgun beside him. The cold touch of the gun strengthened his resolve. "Looks like we're in for another fierce battle," he whispered. Though his voice wasn't loud, it resonated through the car like a bell. His eyes held no fear, but instead ignited a fighting spirit. Xiao Yi took a deep breath and slowly released the brakes, slowly driving the RV toward the herd of mutants. Various strategies raced through his mind, analyzing the movements of each mutant. These mutants were products of the apocalypse. They might once have been ordinary creatures, but under the influence of acid rain and radiation, they had become incredibly ferocious and unpredictable. When the RV was about twenty meters away from the herd, the largest of the mutants launched the first attack. It charged forward like an arrow, its speed astonishing. Xiao Yi didn't panic at all. He expertly steered the RV, jerking it sideways to avoid the mutant's onslaught. He quickly rolled down the window, raised his shotgun, aimed at the mutant, slightly off balance from its missed attack, and pulled the trigger. "Bang!" the shotgun blasted with a resounding roar, the powerful recoil causing Xiao Yi's shoulder to tremble slightly. The bullet, like a torrent of angry steel, pierced the mutant's side. The mutant roared in pain, blood spraying across its body, but it didn't fall. Instead, it charged toward the RV with even greater frenzy. The other mutants, spurred on by their companions, roared and surrounded them. Xiao Yi knew he couldn't sit still and wait for death; he had to take the initiative. He started the RV again and charged toward the herd, firing continuously. With each shot, a mutant was injured or felled, but the mutants were too numerous, and they pressed forward tirelessly. While Xiao Yi was focused on the road ahead, a mutant beast pounced on the RV from the side, its sharp claws carving deep marks into the car's hull. Xiao Yi felt the car's body tremble, and a terrible thought struck him. He quickly dropped his shotgun, grabbed a long knife, kicked open the car door, and lunged at the mutant. Xiao Yi grappled with the mutant, relying on his agility and tenacity to dodge its attacks while searching for opportunities to strike back. He seized the opportunity and stabbed the mutant's neck with his long knife, spraying him with scalding blood. After dispatching the mutant, Xiao Yi quickly returned to the RV. By then, many mutant corpses had fallen around the RV, but several still fought tenaciously. Xiao Yi picked up his shotgun again and continued the battle. After a fierce battle, the mutants finally dispersed, leaving behind a devastated battlefield. Xiao Yi leaned wearily against the driver's seat, his clothes drenched in sweat, and several wounds from the mutant beasts slashed across his body, blood trickling out. Yet, a triumphant glow shone in his eyes. He briefly tended to his wounds, started the RV, and resumed his journey into the unknown. In the days that followed, Xiao Yi continued his journey across this apocalyptic land. He encountered numerous dangers: sudden earthquakes that ripped the roads apart; sandstorms so intense they nearly lost him; and other humans, similarly struggling to survive in the apocalypse. Some, with good intentions, offered to exchange supplies and share their experiences; others, with ulterior motives, attempted to steal Xiao Yi's RV and everything he possessed. Once, while scavenging for supplies in an abandoned town, Xiao Yi encountered a group of survivors. They appeared ragged and gaunt, but their eyes betrayed a thirst for survival. Xiao Yi had intended to engage in friendly conversation, sharing what he had, but one of the men, seemingly the leader, took notice of Xiao Yi's RV and his relatively intact gear and turned a greedy gaze. "Friend, look at us! We haven't had a full meal in ages. Could you please..." the leader said hypocritically, his eyes fixed on Xiao Yi's backpack. Xiao Yi immediately became alert, tightening his grip on his weapon. "I can give you some food, but please don't think otherwise." Suddenly, several of the survivors lunged at Xiao Yi. Xiao Yi, prepared, quickly dodged to the side, shooting the leader. Seeing this, the others didn't retreat, but instead attacked with even greater frenzy. Xiao Yi dodged the attacks while pondering a plan to escape. During the fierce battle, Xiao Yi realized that despite the large number of survivors, most were inexperienced. He skillfully exploited the terrain and maneuvered around them. He climbed onto an abandoned car and, from a high vantage point, fired a continuous barrage of shotgun blasts. After a fierce battle, the group of survivors finally realized they could not defeat Xiao Yi and fled in disgrace. Watching them retreat, Xiao Yi couldn't help but sigh. In this apocalyptic world, both the ugliness and kindness of human nature are magnified immeasurably. He packed up his belongings and continued on his journey, his resolve ever stronger to find a truly safe place. As his journey deepened, Xiao Yi discovered that this land seemed to harbor hidden secrets. He discovered strange symbols and patterns within ancient ruins, hinting that the apocalypse's origins lay beyond acid rain alone. He began to delve into these clues, hoping to find a way to save Blue Planet. During one of his explorations, Xiao Yi came upon a mysterious underground laboratory. The lab was covered in dust and various broken instruments, but in a corner, he discovered a barely functioning computer. After much effort, he successfully unlocked it, and the information within astounded him. It turned out that the apocalypse was a man-made disaster. Some mad scientists, pursuing so-called "evolution," conducted a forbidden experiment, setting off a chain reaction that led to acid rain and the mutation of life. Deep within the laboratory, the key to reversing this disaster seemed to be hidden. Xiao Yi decided to delve deeper into the lab to find it. He carefully navigated through passages filled with traps and mutant creatures, each step fraught with danger. After a fierce battle, he finally reached the core area of the laboratory. There, he discovered a massive energy device, gleaming with a mysterious light. According to the computer, activating this device could potentially repair Blue Planet's ecosystem. However, activating the device required a specific password, hidden elsewhere in the laboratory. Undeterred, Xiao Yi once again embarked on a quest to find the password. After countless attempts and explorations, he finally found it. As he entered the password and activated the device, a dazzling light shot up into the sky, shaking the entire Blue Planet. In the aftermath, Xiao Yi was delighted to discover that the acid rain had gradually ceased, the barren land began to regenerate, and green plants sprouted from the soil. The mutant beasts gradually returned to their original form, and Blue Planet began to slowly recover. Standing on this land, now filled with hope, Xiao Yi felt a surge of emotion. He knew this was just a new beginning, and the road ahead was long, but he was confident that together with the reunited people of Blue Planet, they could rebuild this once beautiful home. # Breakout from the Apocalypse The apocalyptic sky seemed shrouded by a vast gray curtain, weighing heavily on the earth. The howling wind, like a demon, swept through the air, swirling dust and sand, casting an even more eerie and terrifying gloom. Xiao Yi sat alone in the driver's seat of the RV, his eyes fixed with determination and vigilance, constantly monitoring his surroundings. However, even though he had braced himself for any danger, the sudden appearance of the horde of mutant beasts still made his heart tighten. Like hungry wolves, the mutants charged towards the RV, their bodies as massive as small hills, their every step shaking the ground. But surprisingly, despite their immense size, they possessed incredible agility. Like a gust of black wind, they closed in on the RV in an instant. Xiao Yi's heart skipped a beat, and without hesitation, he activated the RV's defenses. Instantly, a shimmering, pale-blue energy shield rose around the RV, acting like a solid protective shield, isolating it from the outside world. "Buzz!" the energy shield emitted a soft humming sound, barely withstanding the initial assault from the mutants. Mutant beasts slammed into the shields, making a dull thud like a hammer striking iron. Xiao Yi watched through the car window as the beasts pounded against the shields. Their blood-red eyes blazed with bloodlust, their sharp fangs gleaming coldly in the dust. He was secretly wary, "These creatures are even more ferocious than before." He knew that while the energy shield could temporarily hold off the attackers, it wasn't a permanent solution. Taking a deep breath, Xiao Yi suppressed his nervousness, grabbed his nearby shotgun, and quickly opened the car window. The gust of wind, carrying dust and sand, lashed the car, causing him to squint. But without hesitation, he aimed at the nearest mutant and decisively pulled the trigger. "Bang!" The gunshot rang out remarkably loud in the wind, like a thunderclap. The bullet, with powerful force, struck the mutant's head with pinpoint accuracy. Black blood spurted out like a fountain, glaring against the gray dust. However, the mutant beast paused only briefly, as if this slight injury wouldn't deter it. Then, with another furious roar, it charged even more frantically at the RV. Xiao Yi realized that conventional attacks were of limited effectiveness against these mutants. Gazing at the dense swarm of mutants outside, he knew he couldn't just sit there and wait for death. He bit his lip, a flicker of determination in his eyes. He gripped the steering wheel with both hands and steered the RV, charging headlong into the herd. The RV's massive body, like a furious steel behemoth, slammed several mutants that hadn't had time to evade it. The evaded beasts arced through the air, landing heavily on the ground, howling in agony. But the mutants were simply too numerous, pouring in like a tide. Those that hadn't been hit clutched the RV tightly, scratching at the car with their sharp claws. The harsh sound of metal rubbing against metal echoed, and deep scratches began to appear on the car's body. Xiao Yi watched this scene in the rearview mirror, his heart racing with anxiety. "This isn't going to work! The RV's defenses will be breached sooner or later." He gritted his teeth, a risky thought flashing through his mind. He took a deep breath, a fierce glint in his eyes. He decided to take the plunge. Without hesitation, he activated the RV's accelerator. The needle on the dashboard jumped rapidly, and the RV hurtled forward like an arrow, hurtling towards a massive mutant beast. The beast stood two stories tall, its body covered in black scales that shimmered eerily in the sunlight. It was clearly the leader of the pack. Just before impact, Xiao Yi swung open the car door, leveraging the RV's powerful impact and leaping towards the massive beast like a bolt of black lightning. The wind whistled past his ears, and he could clearly feel his heartbeat accelerating, but his eyes were filled with determination. He landed precisely on the beast's back, his hands clinging to its scales to prevent himself from being thrown off. Before the mutant could react, Xiao Yi quickly placed his shotgun against its neck and pulled the trigger repeatedly. "Bang, bang, bang!" A series of gunshots rang out, bullets raining down on the mutant's neck like raindrops. The mutant roared in pain, the sound shaking the surrounding air. It writhed wildly on the ground, its massive body kicking up clouds of dust. Xiao Yi held the mutant's body tightly, refusing to let go despite its struggles. Each time the mutant tumbled, Xiao Yi felt as if he were about to be thrown out, but with his tenacious will, he persevered. Finally, after a fierce struggle, the mutant's movements slowed, and with a muffled roar, it collapsed to the ground. The ground shook violently as it fell, sending up a cloud of dust. Seeing this, the other mutants seemed to be afraid, a flicker of hesitation in their previously frantic eyes. They slowed their attacks, staring at each other, letting out low roars as if conferring something. After a while, the mutant beasts gradually retreated, disappearing into the dust. Xiao Yi, panting heavily, climbed off the mutant's back. He felt as if his body was falling apart, every joint aching. But he knew he couldn't let his guard down just yet. He dragged his exhausted body back to the RV. Looking at the battered car, its energy shield weakened, scratched and dented everywhere, he knew he had to find a place to rest quickly, or the next time he encountered danger, the RV might not be able to protect him. Xiao Yi started the RV and slowly drove forward. The wind still howled, but his eyes grew more determined. He knew that in this apocalyptic world, danger was everywhere, but he could not give up. He had to find a safe place and rebuild hope. As the RV bumped along the bumpy road, Xiao Yi kept an eye on his surroundings and pondered his next plan. He knew there was an abandoned town nearby where he might find materials to repair the RV and temporary shelter. Although the town itself might harbor dangers, he had no choice. As the RV drove forward, the abandoned town gradually came into view. The streets were littered with abandoned vehicles and debris. Most of the buildings had collapsed, leaving only a few broken walls teetering precariously in the strong wind. Xiao Yi carefully steered the RV into the town. He remained vigilant, scanning every corner, his shotgun tightly gripped, ready to respond to any danger. As the RV reached the town's central square, Xiao Yi suddenly heard a faint sound. He immediately stopped the RV, held his breath, and listened carefully. The sound seemed to come from an abandoned building next to the square, like someone crying softly, or even the whimpering of some creature. Xiao Yi frowned, puzzled. In this apocalyptic world, any unusual sound could mean danger, but he couldn't just ignore it. After some thought, Xiao Yi decided to get out of the car to investigate. He gently opened the car door, slowly stepped out, and holding the shotgun to his chest, he walked step by step toward the source of the sound. With each step, he was careful, trying not to make any noise. As he approached the building, the sound became clearer. He peered through the broken window and saw a figure huddled in a dim corner. Xiao Yi took a deep breath and shouted, "Who's there? Come out!" However, the figure didn't respond, only continuing to sob faintly. Xiao Yi hesitated for a moment, but finally decided to enter the building. The building was filled with a foul smell, and the walls were covered with moss and water stains, making it look particularly eerie. Xiao Yi climbed the stairs carefully, keeping his eyes fixed on the figure in the corner. As he got closer, he saw that it was a little girl. The girl looked only seven or eight years old, wearing tattered clothes, her hair tangled and draped over her shoulders, her face covered in dust and tears. Her body was shaking constantly, and her eyes were filled with fear and helplessness. Xiao Yi's heart softened, he put down the shotgun in his hand, and asked softly: "Little friend, why are you here? Where are your family?"The little girl looked up at Xiao Yi with terrified eyes and whispered, "I... I'm separated from my parents. They... they were captured by the mutant beasts." She couldn't help crying again. Xiao Yi felt a pang of sadness. In this apocalyptic world, tragedies like this happened every day. He gently knelt down and comforted her, "Don't be afraid, little girl. Uncle will protect you. What's your name?" The little girl sobbed and replied, "My... my name is Yueyue." Xiao Yi touched Yueyue's head and said, "Yueyue, come with uncle. Uncle will take you to a safe place." Yueyue hesitated for a moment, but finally nodded, reaching out her hand to hold Xiao Yi. Xiao Yi took Yueyue back to the RV and placed her in the passenger seat. Looking at Yueyue's thin body and fear-filled eyes, Xiao Yi vowed to protect this poor child. Next, Xiao Yi began searching the town for materials to repair the RV. He found some parts and tools in abandoned auto repair shops and some shops, but it wasn't enough. Just as he was feeling a bit worried, Yueyue suddenly said, "Uncle, I know a place that might have what you need." Xiao Yi looked at Yueyue with surprise and asked, "Where is it?" Yueyue pointed to the edge of town and said, "There's a warehouse over there. My dad used to go there to get things." Xiao Yi took Yueyue to the warehouse she mentioned. The door was closed, and the surrounding area was filled with debris. Xiao Yi struggled to open the door. The warehouse was filled with an air of antiquity, and inside were a variety of items: daily necessities, weapons and ammunition, and some mechanical parts. Xiao Yi was excited and began to search the warehouse carefully for materials to repair the RV. After some effort, he finally found enough parts and tools. Returning to the RV, Xiao Yi began to work on it. Yueyue watched Xiao Yi's work with curiosity, occasionally handing him tools. With Xiao Yi's efforts, the RV gradually recovered. The energy shield reactivated, and the scratches and dents on the body were repaired. Looking at the repaired RV, Xiao Yi felt a sense of accomplishment. However, just as Xiao Yi was about to leave town with Yueyue, a herd of mutant beasts suddenly appeared at the town's entrance. As if they had sensed human presence, they rapidly advanced towards the RV. Xiao Yi's face darkened, knowing another fierce battle was imminent. He quickly carried Yueyue into the RV, activated the defenses, and then grabbed his shotgun, ready to engage. The mutants surged forward like a tide, frantically pounding the energy shield and roaring furiously. Xiao Yi peered out the window at the dense swarm of mutant beasts and groaned inwardly. These beasts were more ferocious and numerous than those he had encountered before. He knew that he and the RV's defenses alone would be unable to withstand their attacks. Just as Xiao Yi was feeling a sense of despair, he suddenly noticed a smaller mutant among the herd. It seemed to be moving more slowly and was always trailing behind the others. Xiao Yi had a sudden thought: this mutant might be the group's weak point. So, he decided to take a chance, revving the RV's accelerator once again and charging towards the smaller mutant. As he neared the beast, Xiao Yi opened the door and dove out. He somersaulted mid-air, landing securely on its back. Before the creature could react, Xiao Yi pressed his shotgun against its head and fired repeatedly. The mutant screamed and fell to the ground. The other mutants seemed panicked by this, their attacks slowing. Xiao Yi seized the opportunity to return to the RV, stepped on the gas, and charged in the opposite direction of the town. The mutants pursued closely, but the RV's speed grew, gradually leaving them behind. Finally, Xiao Yi and Yueyue escaped the mutants' pursuit. Watching the town and the herd of mutants recede behind him, Xiao Yi breathed a sigh of relief. He knew this was just a minor incident in the apocalypse, and that more dangers and challenges lay ahead. But at that moment, looking at Yueyue sitting beside him, his heart filled with warmth and a sense of responsibility. He decided that no matter how many difficulties and obstacles lay ahead, he would protect Yueyue and take her with him to find hope and rebuild a beautiful home. The RV continued to move forward across the barren land, the afterglow of the setting sun shining on the car body, casting a long shadow. Xiao Yi and Yueyue's figures seemed so small in this apocalyptic afterglow, yet so determined. They didn't know what the future would bring, but they believed that as long as they had hope in their hearts, they would be able to find their own light in this dark apocalypse.
