Chapter 757: Walking out of the lifeboat

Finally, after repeated checks and observations, confirming the thunderstorm had completely passed, Xiao Yi took a deep breath, straightened his spine, and led his team members, preparing to take this crucial step. His hand slowly reached for the lifeboat door handle, his movements gentle and slow, as if the handle were an extremely precious and fragile treasure. Every subtle movement was filled with caution, his eyes fixed on the hatch, not daring to lose focus for even a moment. When the door handle gently turned, a soft click sounded, and Xiao Yi's heartbeat involuntarily quickened. He paused, re-checking that nothing was amiss outside, before continuing to push the hatch. The hatch slowly opened, and a gust of wind mixed with the scent of earth and grass blew in. Xiao Yi didn't step out immediately, but instead leaned his head out and looked around. His eyes quickly scanned the surroundings, not missing a single corner. After confirming that it was initially safe, Xiao Yi carefully took a step forward, landing lightly on the ground, as if his feet were on thin ice, and a single mistake would send him plummeting into an endless abyss. He leaned forward slightly, ready to retreat at any moment. The team members followed closely behind him, each of them as cautious as Xiao Yi, walking slowly and breathing as softly as possible, fearing that any sound would trigger unknown dangers.

The scene before them was like a scene from apocalypse, causing them to gasp. The once orderly base was now a shattered mess, a scene of devastation. Tall buildings leaned to one side, their walls cracked, gaping like gaping wounds, stretching from rooftop to ground level. Broken glass scattered across the ground, gleaming coldly in the sunlight, as if bearing witness to the violence it had endured. Equipment and machinery lay scattered, twisted and deformed. Once neatly parked vehicles were overturned, some smashed beyond recognition, leaving only a heap of scrap metal. The roads within the base were riddled with potholes of varying sizes, as if blasted by countless artillery shells. Mud and stone mixed into a chaotic, chaotic barrier. The once lush green belts were long gone, leaving only charred branches and withered grass. The air was thick with the acrid smell of gunpowder and burning, making it difficult to breathe. The warehouse in the distance was not spared either, its doors wide open, its contents looted, leaving only empty shelves and scattered debris on the floor. The entire base seemed to have undergone an unimaginable catastrophe, making it hard to believe that this was once a place they knew and filled with hope.

"This..." Everyone's words choked in their throats as they began to speak, stunned by the devastation before them. Their mouths parted as if they were about to utter a sound, but the sheer shock of their voices seemed to have locked them shut, preventing even a single word from emanating. Their eyes widened, nearly popping out of their sockets, their gazes filled with disbelief and profound fear. Some instinctively raised their hands, trying to point at the wreckage before them, but their arms trembled in mid-air, unable to bring them down. Others' lips trembled, muffled sobs emanating from their throats, unable to form a single, coherent sentence. Their faces instantly turned pale as paper, and beads of sweat formed on their foreheads, yet they remained oblivious. Their bodies, as if frozen in place by a spell, stood frozen, their minds utterly devoid of thought or movement, their minds consumed by the boundless shock and terror.

"This won't do. We have to think of a solution," Xiao Yi said, his brow furrowed, his voice heavy and urgent. His thick black eyebrows knitted together, forming a deep "chuan" character, the ravines seeming to carry his worries and anxieties. The veins on his forehead bulged slightly, throbbing with his words, revealing his inner unease and restlessness. Xiao Yi's eyes were fixed on the chaotic scene before him, their gaze filled with determination and resoluteness. His lips pressed into a straight line, revealing his serious attitude and unquestionable resolve. "If we continue to fight endlessly like this, none of us will survive!" He raised his voice, a hint of anger and helplessness in his voice. His hands unconsciously clenched into fists, the knuckles turning white from the strain. Xiao Yi took a deep breath, trying to calm himself, his mind racing with a strategy. But the situation before him was so tricky that he felt unprecedented pressure, and his brows furrowed even tighter, as if the frown could lock his thoughts and help him find the key to solving the problem.

Faced with numerous difficulties, both internal and external, Xiao Yi and the Beidou team stood like a rock amidst the raging storm, showing no sign of retreat. Xiao Yi straightened his back, his eyes burning with a resolute fire, a ray of hope for the future that never dimmed for a moment. He clenched his teeth, his facial muscles twitching slightly, revealing his inner resolve. The members of the Beidou team gathered closely around Xiao Yi, their gazes equally resolute. Their eyes met, conveying unspoken encouragement and trust. "We will not be defeated by difficulties!" Xiao Yi shouted, his voice echoing throughout the empty base. He pumped his fist, as if to shatter the current of adversity with one blow. The team members responded with a deafening roar. They sprang into action, their work clearly divided and organized. Some soothed the quarreling crowds, using gentle yet firm words to defuse conflicts. Others began sorting through the rubble, searching for usable resources. Even a single intact plank or undamaged screw was cherished. Sweat drenched their clothes, but no one paused, no one complained. In their hearts, they held the hope of reconstruction, a bright beacon guiding them forward amidst the darkness and adversity. Every effort, every drop of sweat, embodied their vision for the future. Despite the hardships ahead, they firmly believed that with unity, no obstacle was insurmountable, no dream unattainable.
