Chapter 755 Lifeboat 2

"If this goes on, what if something goes wrong? The consequences will be disastrous," someone finally complained, his voice trembling with anxiety. His brow furrowed, the veins in his forehead bulging with excitement, his eyes bloodshot, filled with worry about the future. As he spoke, he waved his arms, as if trying to shake off his anxiety and fear. "Look at this terrible situation! People are so crowded, it's hard to even turn around. If there's a fire or some other emergency, how are we going to escape? How are we going to hide?" His voice rose in pitch, tinged with anger and despair. "And the air quality is unbearable. If this goes on for too long, everyone will get sick. And what can we do about it? Without enough medicine and doctors, are we just going to die?" He gasped, his chest heaving violently. "Plus, food and water are so scarce. How long can we hold out? When will this end?" His eyes revealed a deep sense of helplessness and fear of the unknown. The people around him listened to his complaints, their expressions becoming even more solemn. Some lowered their heads and sighed silently, while others bit their lips tightly, tears glistening in their eyes. But everyone knew that what he said was true, but no one dared to think too deeply about the terrible consequences that might arise.

The sheer number of people inside the massive lifeboat created a state of utter chaos. People rushed about like headless flies, jostling and shoving in the crushing crowd, leaving no room for anything. The planned passageways were completely choked, making it impossible for anyone to pass through. Children cried loudly, their voices faint and helpless amid the clamor. Fighting for the limited space, people refused to yield, and arguments and shouting erupted. Some tried to maintain order, but their voices were instantly drowned out by the clamor. Luggage and belongings were scattered across the floor, mercilessly trampled upon. Some who stumbled, unable to rise quickly, struggled desperately under the weight of the crowd, risking injury. The food and water distribution points were in even greater chaos, as people swarmed in, frantically scrambling for the meager supplies, fearing they would miss out on even the smallest sliver of survival. The strong, relying on their physical strength, pushed to the front, while the weaker were pushed aside, their eyes filled with despair and anger. The seats, which should have been arranged in an orderly manner, were disrupted, with people sitting and lying haphazardly, pressing against each other. In a corner, a few people engaged in a fistfight over a minor incident, with those around them unable to intervene. This chaotic situation escalated, like an out-of-control vortex, sucking everyone in, leaving people feeling utterly panicked and helpless.

Inside the overcrowded, large lifeboat, the children's cries were shrill and piercing, like sharp blades piercing the hearts of the people. The young children, terrified by the chaotic scene, were bewildered and wailed at the top of their lungs, their voices filled with endless fear and grievance. Some cried, "Mom, I'm scared," their voices broken by sobs; others sobbed loudly, seemingly exhausting all their strength to express their inner panic. Meanwhile, the sound of people arguing was incessant. Angry shouts and heated arguments intertwined, adding to the already noisy atmosphere. "You're stepping on me!" "Stop squeezing, please!" "This is mine, let go!" People fought desperately for space, food, and water, their voices brimming with anger and resentment. The cries ranged from high-pitched and shrill to deep and hoarse, but each one was filled with intense emotion. The children's cries and the clashing mingled to create an unbearable cacophony. Every sound hammered at the heart, straining nerves to the breaking point. Amidst this chaotic din, people grew increasingly restless. Their faces darkened, their brows furrowed, their eyes gleaming with despair and helplessness. Some covered their ears, trying to block out the devastating noise, but to no avail. The clamor felt like an invisible cage, trapping everyone, leaving them unable to escape and left to suffer in this state of anxiety and restlessness.

"Stop pushing! Calm down!" A towering man shouted, desperately trying to maintain order, his voice filled with urgency and anxiety. His face flushed, veins bulged in his neck, and he waved his hands, trying to hold back the ever-increasing crowd. His voice was hoarse yet powerful, like a beacon of light struggling to illuminate in the darkness. However, his cry was instantly drowned out by the surging noise. The shrill cries of children, the angry arguments, the clashing of objects, like waves, relentlessly drowned out his voice. He kept repeating the words, his voice growing louder and more urgent, but like a pebble thrown into the sea, it caused no ripples. The people around him seemed seized by an invisible madness, paying no attention to his cries. His eyes were filled with helplessness and despair. Looking at the chaotic scene before him, he felt the insignificance of his efforts. The voice that should have been intimidating became so small and powerless in the chaos, and was ruthlessly ignored and forgotten.

In this harsh, almost suffocating environment, the hope of survival was like a flickering candle in the wind, faint and precious. Yet, despite this, everyone clung to that glimmer of hope in their hearts, silently praying. Their gazes, sometimes confused, sometimes determined, gazed into the unknown distance, as if they could glimpse the dawn of a future through the thick walls. The children clung tightly to the arms of the adults, their tiny bodies trembling slightly, but their eyes still shone with the desire to survive. The adults, their eyes closed, lips moving silently, expressed their hopes to the gods they believed in or the power deep within their hearts. Every moment of this long wait was a tormenting experience. But they remained convinced that as long as they breathed, they could survive. They recalled the good old days—the warm smiles, the bright sunshine, the embraces of loved ones—and these memories became the strength that sustained them. They imagined life after escaping this difficult situation, feeling the gentle breeze again, breathing the fresh air, seeing the blue sky and white clouds, and enjoying a life of freedom. This vision of the future keeps them from losing their way in the darkness and allows them to feel a glimmer of warmth in the cold. Every heartbeat, every breath, is accompanied by a silent prayer. They know that this crisis is a great test of their lives, but they also believe that as long as the flame of hope in their hearts is not extinguished, they will be able to survive safely and usher in a new beginning.
