Chapter 796: Fighting Together 3

Each of these meticulously designed traps holds deadly danger and ingenious design. For example, the bottomless pits, like gaping maws of the earth, await their prey. Their edges are cleverly camouflaged, covered in dirt, weeds, and fallen leaves, mimicking the surrounding landscape, making them difficult to detect. Their depth is daunting; a fall into the pits is a descent into an endless, dark abyss. The pit floor is strewn with sharp rocks and sharpened wooden stakes; even if a victim survives the fall, they will likely be injured by these weapons as they attempt to escape. Other traps conceal razor-sharp spikes, strategically placed beneath the seemingly ordinary ground. Some spike traps are triggered by a trigger mechanism: when an enemy steps on a specific pressure plate, the hidden spikes instantly deploy, piercing their feet or legs with lightning speed. Other spike traps utilize elastic mechanisms. When an enemy passes by, the camouflaged ground suddenly collapses, revealing a dense network of sharp spikes, leaving no escape. Once an enemy falls into these traps, they instantly descend into utter panic and despair. The excruciating pain causes them to scream in agony, and any struggle to escape only worsens their injuries. Enemies in the pit gaze at the towering walls, while those trapped within the spikes gaze at their bloody wounds, their eyes filled with fear and helplessness, knowing full well that once trapped, escape from this meticulously crafted death trap is nearly impossible.

The massive iron door stood silently like an impenetrable fortress, emanating a reassuring power. Constructed from the finest, strongest metal, it was forged through countless hammerings, resulting in a dense and heavy texture. Every inch of the iron plate was of astonishing thickness, as if able to withstand any impact. To further enhance its stability, the blacksmiths devised a special design for the door's internal structure. They cleverly incorporated thick steel beams, crisscrossing to form a sturdy framework that supported the door like an iron skeleton. The surface of the door was meticulously inlaid with layer upon layer of metal plates, tightly connected by rivets, leaving no gaps. The raised heads of the rivets formed a solid line of defense, making it more difficult for an enemy to attack. To enhance the door's resistance to pressure, its edges were specially thickened and rolled, effectively distributing the force of impact and preventing it from deforming easily. On the back of the door were massive hinges and a thick bolt. The hinges are crafted from fine steel, repeatedly tempered and honed to withstand immense torque and tension. The bolt, as thick and robust as a giant python, requires the combined strength of several men to pull. Once engaged, it creates an impenetrable barrier to the iron door. Whether it's the raging wind or the fiercest enemy charge, this specially reinforced, heavy iron door stands firm as a rock, withstanding immense impact and protecting everything behind it.

Behind the imposing iron gate lay a series of meticulously constructed checkpoints and obstacles, like an impenetrable line of defense, designed to ensure the gate's tenacity in the event of an attack. The first thing that caught the eye was a row of sharpened stakes. These stakes were crafted from heavy, solid wood, their tips sharpened to an impenetrable edge, then treated with fire and oil, rendering them incredibly tough and indestructible. These stakes were closely spaced, forming an impenetrable barrier of spikes, wounding or hindering any enemy attempting to force their way through. Further in, deep trenches were lined with sharp bamboo sticks and barbs, with spikes embedded at the bottom. Any enemy who stumbled into these trenches would be trapped by these deadly traps, making escape difficult. Along the passageways, massive logs and stones were stacked on either side. These logs and stones were carefully selected and crafted, making them heavy and sturdy. If the gates were attacked, the defenders could quickly push them down, dealing a crushing blow to the enemy. Heavy iron gates were placed at strategic locations. These gates could be quickly lowered from above, cutting off the enemy's attack routes and encircling them. Furthermore, the passages were narrow and winding, with firing holes in the walls on either side, allowing the defenders to shoot arrows or throw weapons at the enemy while remaining well protected. Each checkpoint and obstacle worked together to form a complex and rigorous defense system. In the face of enemy attacks, they would work together to deliver a decisive blow, ensuring the city gates would hold firm and safeguarding the safety and peace within.

In addition to meticulously constructing external defensive facilities, Xiao Yi also devoted a great deal of effort and wisdom to the layout and planning of the interior of his home. He first made a reasonable division of the residential area. According to the different family sizes and needs, houses of appropriate sizes were allocated, and sufficient spacing was ensured between houses to ensure good ventilation and lighting. The streets were neatly laid out, spacious and straight, making it convenient for people to walk and transport goods. In the public areas, Xiao Yi planned an open square. The square is not only a place for people to communicate and carry out daily activities, but also a place where people can quickly gather in an emergency. Flower beds and seats are also set up around it, providing space for people to relax and unwind. Xiao Yi also gave careful consideration to the layout of the farmland. He divided the farmland into neat squares, crisscrossed with irrigation channels to ensure that every piece of land has sufficient water.
