Chapter 30 Out of context (9)

Zeng Jianguo stepped on the escalator lightly, moving his feet slowly, not daring to look back.

“Hurry up!”

Seeing Zeng Jianguo hesitating, Xie Mian directly put the long knife to the other's neck.

The silver blade gleamed coldly on Zeng Jianguo's neck. Zeng Jianguo didn't dare to dawdle any longer and climbed from the second floor to the third, finally stopping at the fourth floor children's paradise.

"Inside...inside, my daughter is playing inside."

Zeng Jianguo pointed at the inflatable castle and said tremblingly.

Xie Mian looked into the inflatable castle and could hear children's laughter inside the castle, but this laughter was not Xiao Xing's.

He frowned slightly and was about to call Xiao Xing's name when he saw a little girl in a princess dress sliding down from the castle.

"Hehe, Daddy, this is so fun, come and play with me."

The one sliding down was the girl's sister Taotao. Taotao was wearing brand new clothes and shoes, and her face was filled with a happy smile.

"Where's Xiao Xing?"

After Taotao slid down, the other child disappeared. Xie Mian turned around and questioned Zeng Jianguo.

"Aren't you looking for my daughter? This is my daughter!" Zeng Jianguo was playing tricks.

"Oh, are you kidding me?"

With his wrist slightly lowered, the long knife pressed a bloody mark on the man's neck:

"Don't make me ask a third time, tell me, where is Xiao Xing?"

"I, I, I... Xiao Xing..." Zeng Jianguo stuttered, kneeling on the ground with cold sweat dripping from his forehead. He was about to say something when he saw the person behind Xie Mian and suddenly shouted:

"Boss Feng, save me! Boss Feng, save me!"

"Mr. Feng, it was him, this guy broke into the mall and beat us up!"

The knife under his hand did not loosen its grip as the person came. Xie Mian turned the blade slightly, slicing off one of Zeng Jianguo's ears, and then turned back to look behind him.

Three men stood behind him.

Two of them were the burly men I had just "dealt" with at the door, and one was a strange middle-aged man.

The man was slightly overweight, wearing a well-fitting black suit, his hair combed meticulously, a false smile on his face, and he glanced up and down inconspicuously.

"Hey, young man, what's going on? If you have anything to say, why don't you sit down and talk it out? I believe any problem can be solved through communication."

"It's never right to take action, don't you think?"

"Let me introduce myself. My last name is Feng. You can call me Brother Feng. You can tell me if you have anything to say."

Mr. Feng looked at the long knife in Xie Mian's hand and the cut-off ear on the ground with a gloomy look in his eyes, and his fingers gently wiped the Swiss watch on his wrist.

Xie Mian raised his eyelids and looked at Mr. Feng.

It seems that during the time I was away, this "Mr. Feng" took control of the mall.

"I'm looking for a little girl named 'Xiao Xing'. Where is she?"

"Xiao Xing? Is there anyone here with this name?" Mr. Feng asked those around him, then narrowed his eyes and looked at Zeng Jianguo.

"No... no, no one called this person."

Zeng Jianguo caught Mr. Feng's eye, covered his ears, and spoke vaguely.

"Look, we don't have this person here. Why don't you look for him somewhere else?"

Mr. Feng spread his hands and looked at Xie Mian with a smile.

The fact that these people can stand here safely means that Xiao Xing is in the mall or near it.

They are hiding something.

Xie Mian didn't want to waste time and pointed the knife at Mr. Feng:

"Where is she?"

"Oh, we really don't have this person here. I don't know what you are talking about."

While Mr. Feng was speaking, a group of people came and surrounded Xie Mian.

He had seen some of these people before, but some looked unfamiliar and must have come after he left.

There were about twenty or thirty people surrounding them, all holding sticks and with unfriendly faces.

Some of these people had rosy complexions, were neatly dressed, and looked as if they were not disturbed by the end of the world; some looked listless and had dull eyes.

"Young man, we don't have this person here. I advise you to leave."

Mr. Feng waved his hand, and the people behind him came forward holding sticks.

Xie Mian didn't want to waste any more time talking. He simply raised the long knife in his hand, and the long knife pierced through the wall of people and nailed Mr. Feng to the wall.

"Where?"

The long knife pierced Mr. Feng's stomach, and blood gushed out. Mr. Feng almost fainted from the pain:

"Come on, kill him for me. Whoever kills him will get an extra piece of bread today."

Someone in the crowd heard the word "bread" and wanted to move forward, trembling, but after seeing Xie Mian's eyes, he dared not move.

"Where is she?"

"She, she's not in the mall, she left on her own!"

Mr. Feng gasped and spoke quickly, fearing that Xie Mian would stab him again.

Xie Mian half believed and half didn't believe what Mr. Feng said.

With Zeng Jianguo here, how could Xiao Xing leave on her own? Unless these people drove Xiao Xing away and didn't let her stay here.

After confirming that Xiao Xing was not in the mall, Xie Mian didn't want to stay even a second longer and turned around to leave.

As Xie Mian left, the long knife that was stuck in Mr. Feng’s stomach also disappeared.

Xie Mian walked out of the mall, looked at the street outside the mall, and then re-entered the mall.

"Haha?" Why did you go back again?

"Looking for the speaker."

The area outside the mall isn't too big, but it's not too small either. If you're unlucky, it might take you quite a while to find it.

He wanted to use the loudspeaker so that Xiao Xing could hear his voice and contact him actively; at the same time, he also wanted to tell Xiao Xing: Brother is here, don't be afraid.

Everyone in the mall was shocked when they saw Xie Mian return, especially Mr. Feng and Zeng Jianguo.

Xie Mian led E Shifang straight down to the basement level. After seeing the scene inside the supermarket, he understood why Xiao Xing was driven away.

The shelves in the supermarket were empty and there was no food.

There was no water, drinks, snacks, bread...even flour, cooking oil, and salt.

The floor was spotless, with no leftover packaging. The food in the supermarket wasn't eaten, but rather moved elsewhere and kept under control.

I remember that on the day I left, quite a few people came to the mall. Among those who had just surrounded me, some didn't look like they were short of food, while others looked malnourished and had been hungry for a long time.

Mr. Feng, haha!

Xie Mian sneered.

Walking through rows of empty shelves, Xie Mian found a speaker in the area where small appliances were sold.

The speaker was the kind you'd find anywhere, sold at street vendors. He installed the batteries and tested it, and it worked.

The building became unusually quiet because of Xie Mian's return.

Some people who had seen Xie Mian before hid aside and secretly watched him, and then told the people around them about Xie Mian’s past “great achievements”.

Some people who didn't know Xie Mian were frightened by his ruthless actions and didn't dare to step forward.

Xie Mian stood on the street and recorded his voice into the loudspeaker.

A cold voice echoed in the deserted streets:

"Xiao Xing, I'm Xie Mian..."
